Hi 2nd Trimester Buddies,
I'm just posting over here to ask some advice from you more experienced women...I'm at 9 weeks and I'm having such severe nausea and fatigue, I'm just wondering if any of you experienced this as well and found that going off the progesterone helped a bit with the symptoms. My doctor wants me to stay on it for 12 weeks but I'm having such a hard time with the nausea, if others found relief when going off it I might ask him to at least let me cut down the dose.
Thanks so much for your help!

Morning all you mommies!

Abbie welcome to the second trimester. How was the first for you? I hope you weren't too sick. I was really lucky, I was only sick the week before I was due to test and I think that was the pessaries!

Riley good luck with your appointment tomorrow. Is it just routine antenatal? I agree with Kareen, you will go to bed one day and wake up with a bump! (in the belly not head!) lol

Hi Vita, as Kareen says a lot of low lying placentas move upwards. By late pregnancy only 1% of pregnancies still have placenta praevia although one of the risk factors are where there is a larger than usual placenta (in multiple pregnancies). They will just keep a close eye on it and any bleeding you will have to go straight in. It will mean a section but then you would probably be having that anyway. Oh and my book says no sex!

I'm really sorry to hear about your blood test. I had read in a leaflet here that they don't test with multiples but you never know in the States. I would have thought something like that they would have known before they put you through it. I'm sure your previous 3 hour scan would have picked up anything which may have been abnormal so please try not to worry too much.

Kareen you never fail to make me smile. Don't you ever go changing! I can't believe you haven't had any bloods done since week 12. We have our preliminary bloods done at 16 weeks (this is everything, FBC, HIV, glucose etc) then our second bloods are done at 28 weeks.

How was the meal? I know what you mean about wearing everything. If I'm having a roll 9 times out of 10 I will drop half of it into my bra! We went out for a curry last night and the first bit from my fork ended up on my dress, not as if I had a black dress on or anything, oh I did! lol

Like you say, you can't be that bad or they wouldn't invite you, well we will see for next time how well you behaved this time!

I hope you didn't pull too much skin off when you removed your plaster! lol You will just have to tuck it in in future!

Hi Tammy, I'm sorry to hear you now have this worry over you. Kareen has been great yesterday with all her knowledge. I won't even pretend to know anything but from what Kareen says it does sound positive. Your first blood result came back really good.

Decorating for Halloween sounds fun. We bought the girls their costumes the other day. Emma is going to be a devil (like she needs a costume) and Jodie is a pumkin. I will make sure I take a picture. Jodie's appointment has come through from Great Ormond Street and she goes in on the 30th and home on the 31st but I'm hoping she will be ok to go trick or treating. I'm sure the thought of all those goodies isn't going to keep her back!

We actually had sunshine yesterday, it was blue skies this morning but has turned a little cloudy. Best get my butt into gear I need to go to Harlow to pick my little cherubs up from the MIL.

Have a wonderful Sunday

Jo

Mazy: I did not get nausea at during my first trimester. I was taking progesterone shots every day. However, I was very fatigued! After the 1st trimester was over, I seemed to have a lot more energy. The nausea could just be related to your pregnancy and not the progesterone. It should subside once you get to the 2nd trimester. Good luck.

Jo: It seems that this "bright spot" on the baby's heart is not so uncommon. Two of the other ladies on my "Over 40 site" also had "bright spots" on their baby's hearts. Kareen did give me a lot of encouraging info. You are right in that my 1st trimester test did come back with very good results. I also decided to have the 2nd trimester test (quad) done while I was at the specialist's office. I should get the results on Tuesday or Wednesday.

I did not get my decorating done yesterday, but I plan to do it today. I bet you have fun at halloween with your two little girls. I hope Jodie feels like going trick-or-treating. We always get so many kids coming to our neighborhood. Since Halloween is on a Tuesday night, DH will have to pass out treats without me since I don't get home from school until 9:00pm.

Hello to all others.

Take care,
Tammy

Hello lovely girlies,

Hope you are all having/have had a nice weekend.

Abbie - welcome to this thread. You'll get to know us all in no time...

Kareen - eat anything nice today...LOL   I'm not being rude you know, just envious of your appetite. Food's doing nothing for me and to think - I'd have an excuse... Mind you, I was a size 16 beforehand, so maybe it's a good thing....

Rileydee - good luck tomorrow. I'm sure all will be well. That bump will apear in no time and you'll be showing it off. Just stick your tummy out a bit when you walk in the meantime  :P

Vita - bad luck on the PP, but at least you know what the pinkish stuff is. I've also heard they can move up, so here's hoping... You take care anyway.

Tammy, congrats on the sex! A wee boy eh?! Hope you've managed to deal with the upset a bit. You know, there are no guarantees either way. Some people have been given much higher risk stats and everything's been fine, and vice versa. Just have faith and carry on as normal. We didn't have any tests done - likewise will Sam. Like you, I wouldn't have done anything, so what's the point. Does it ever really prepare you knowing anyway?

Jo, NO, the countdown is not flaming well starting!!!  Don't even tempt fate by mentioning it.... 28 + 4 now though - every day counts (OMG, how much you'll all be laughing when I'm posting at 40 weeks, saying @when's he going to appear...' :? I've had a bit of a nightmare couple of days. The pain started on wednesday night and has stayed constant. However, it's just when I walk, sit, lie down.....LOL. It's not funny really. I'm waddling worse than a duck and feel like there's something stuck between my legs. After a while in any position I feel very stiff... Anyway, got hold of the midwife who says it sounds like symphasis pubis (spelling?) - bloody nightmare if it is as I can't do anything about it. Small steps, no lifting, keep legs together... Have to self refer to the physio and not tell them that's what she says it is - how stupid is that? have left a message, but no one's got back to me... Keeping legs together - if I wasn't concerned about labour, I am now....

Anyway, there's always something... School get me a flaming lift key now as I refuse to walk up floor floors worth of stairs...

Hope evryone is well.

Hello all,

I'm so bored. I've had a really boring day and I'm just waiting now for the chinese to open so I can order my grub!

Tammy I hope you managed to get your decorating done. What do you do for Halloween? We will put a pumpkin in the window a couple of days before but that's as far as it goes!

I'm glad you feel a little more reassured about the baby. Tuesday/Wednesday will be here soon enough for you to know.

Hey Zoe good to hear from you. Ok I wont start counting down just yet! lol I suffered from symphysis pubis dysfunction (SPD) when I was pregnant with Jodie. It's not nice and I don't envy you. I had to go for physio every week. I was lucky as the antental clinic referred me so was seen really quickly. A belt may help a little, for me it didn't go until delivery then it went as quick as it came.

Getting a key for the lift is good. I went passed one of those shop mobility scooter things the other day and boy did they look tempting, in a couple of weeks I'll be renting one of them to get round the shops - not much basket space though!

Kareen I'm so impressed you never dropped anything. You sure? I sometimes don't think I have until I'm getting undressed for bed and then have to hoover! Lots of people get grazed there so Darren wouldn't be suspicious! lol least now you know what to get him for Christmas!

I could eat constantly. I've put on just under 3 stone already which isn't good but the hospital have told me keeping my sugars low are more important than the weight (insulin makes you hungry). I can lose weight next year. We will have to have a board for us dieters, weekly weigh ins!

Leather sofa, great idea. What colour have you gone for? One of the best things I ever bought, what with projectile vomiting, weeing accidents, now crayons, chocolate buttons and strawberry milkshake it's great! The laminate has just gone down again too! We had it in our old house but have been here two years and have just done it again. I was trying to put it off but no can do!

Right two minutes until opening so am going to re-check the order. Better feed him I suppose as he's been painting the girls room all day!

Take care

Jo

Jo and Kareen - your posts made me laugh...

Kareen - HOW much food in a day............. Now I'm even more P%*@ed off - I don't even eat a third of that normally and am big (before pregnancy). It's not fair :( The weather??? As you'd expect for Scotland (that's not really fair as it has been very nice and warm this summer) - but as I say, as you'd expect today. Can't wait for snow, although I'm outside Edinburgh now and it's not like it is up North where I'm from...too near the south...  always warmer and windier here.

Jo - thanks for not counting. I did ask the midwife about one of the belts but she said not to unless advised by physio - in some cases it's not good. Will just persevere - and go private if I have to - no way I'm doing 11 weeks( of this... Yes, I did say 11 weeks  Dare I ask how your labour with Jodie was - the web says on all fours is best - unless it's quick - maybe I don't want to know....!

Take care

Hello Ladies:

Thanks so much for all of your well wishes and support regarding my little guy.

I received very good news today, regarding my 2nd trimester screening results. They came early :!: My risks of having a baby with Downs Syndrome went from 1:820 to 1:5700 !!!!!!!! I am so relieved. My genetic counselor reiterated that they do not normally worry about Intracardiac Echogenic Foci ("bright spot"), unless there are other positive markers for Downs Syndrome.

Rileydee: Your little beanie's heartbeat is strong. Congrats on your appt.

Kareen: Good for you. I wish that I would eat more veggies. I go through phases of different cravings. For lunch DH and I had Mexican food.

Anna: Welcome to the 2nd trimester site ! :D It is so good to see you here.

Justine: I'm glad to hear that your cold is gone. Mine is gone, but I still have coughing spells sometimes at night.

Jo: Yes, I finally got my decorating done. I put out some pumpkins on my front steps with some potted mums. I also have various pumpkin decorations, etc. scattered throughout the house. My stepson strung orange pumpkin lights on our bushes out front. What is a Stone? I have gained around 13 lbs thus far. I'm on the upper end of the normal range.

Take care all,
Tammy

Hello,

Tammy I'm so pleased everything came back good. A stone is 14lb so I've put on about 40lb!

Have been feeling really down yesterday and today. I think my steriods have finally kicked in because my sugar levels have gone from between 3-6 to 18+. Makes you feel so horrible. My eyes hurt as they are so tired, I'm weeing every 20 minutes, I couldn't even open a yogart pot at the moment as I have zero engery. Just waiting on the hospital to phone me back. I know it's not good for baby when sugars are so high, I keep putting my insulin up but it's not getting there quick enough!

Sorry for not doing personals. Will be back later to chat if I'm feeling better.

Take care

Jo
