Good morning guys!
tee hee hee... look at that!

the smileys all have Xmas hats now! How cute is that!
AMD: Welcome to the group! Of course we don't mind if you join in; the more, the merrier! I agree with Shawn, you'll love it here! Congrats on your new cycle and lots of baby dust to you!
Sassynlv: strangely enough, my ears do feel better this morning, go figure! Yesterday I did not feel so good and I hoped I wouldn't have an ear infection in addition to being horribly late in my cycle. But it seems it will clear up all by itself!

Thanks for asking sweetie!
sokru8: Sorry to learn that you're bored to tears, but your energy still seems to be there and it's reassuring! Fame can represent a big change in one's life, and not everybody is able to adapt in healthy ways... keep us posted! will you go right back to work after your bed rest? You're very lucky that the holidays will start in a few days; that will give you extra rest I hope.
Today might be decisive for me. Yesterday evening during the sushi party, I had the big happy shock to find some spotting, plus pink-brownish when I wiped. I put a pad and assumed that things would just "get worse", so I assumed that my period had started. The thing is... this morning, other than light brown spotting, I found nothing else. I almost decided to call the clinic and tell them my period had started anyway, and begin taking the BCP tonight. I figure that the only reason they want me to wait for my period to start is because they want to make sure I'm not pregnant, and I know I'm not anyway.
But, after thinking about it, I decided to be 100% honest with them. I called and left a message; a nurse will call me back shortly. I'll tell her about my symptoms and let her decide whether I should start the BCP tonight or not. This is decisive because, as I explained, if I start taking it tonight, everything will happen a week earlier because of the way the clinic's protocol is scheduled. If I start it tomorrow or later, then everything will happen a week later (e.g., ER happening on Jan 20th instead of 27th).
This may sound silly to you, it's just a two weeks delay (with the 7 days of AF delay I already piled up). However, my husband and I were supposed to TTC in March 2006... since then, for many good reasons, the project has been postponed 5 times... I grieved it five times and now we're ready. Hence my being sick about getting delay after delay.
Anyway, I'll keep you posted about what the nurse says.
I'd also like to ask you guys about acupuncture. How many of you incorporated it to your IVF cycles? Have you told your doctor(s) about it? What were their comments, attitude? I started asking around and it seems like a significant addition to an IVF cycle/pregnancy. A friend gave me the phone number of an acupuncture specialist who specializes in IVF and even comes to the clinic with you on your ER and ET days to help with, respectively, the pain and increase the blood flow in your uterus. I also did a search on Medline, and I found two controlled studies specifically on IVF. The first one was on IVF-ICSI;`the sample was 225 patients (mean age = 36 years old) and they used acupuncture during the luteal phase (one group got placebo acupuncture, which increases the validity of the study). The placebo group got a 15.6% success rate, while the acupuncture group got an amazing 33.6%! In the other study, with a smaller sample (22) and simply a comparison group that did not receive acupuncture, the rates were 43% for the controls and 57% for the acupuncture group! This was IVF only and acupuncture was given all the way through the cycle.
After reading these studies, I find myself very inclined to give it a try, especially that it would be covered by our insurances. What do you guys think about acupuncture?
Have a great day!
Sophie
