Hello again ladies! I can't believe how AWESOME May/June has been. First all of the BFP, and now so many multiples!!! That is so exciting!

AFM, I had my first U/S on Friday at 5wk1day and they saw one sac:) The told me they weren't even sure if they would see any sacs since it was so early. The one thing that is concerning me is my progesterone level. Has anybody had a progesterone level of ~14? I've noticed some of you are on injections vs. the vaginal suppositories; do you know the reason for the difference? They have continued to increase my dose of the vaginal suppositories, but I'm wondering if the injections would be more effective? I am so worried about this level, but I feel so helpless for what I can do to increase it. Does anybody know when your body takes over making the hormones?

Talk to you all soon. I hope everybody has been enjoying your weekend!

Hey Alexis,

Very interesting about the progesterone. I have been asking my RE every time I see him about why my levels arent checked and he kept saying it doesnt matter, that one suppository should be enough. I think different clinics have completely different protocol about how they handle the progesterone issue. I frankly dont know if my level is low, high, or normal. Im just taking one suppository which he assured me is enough. I guess I would just go along with their advice. Increasing the progesterone suppositories probably wont hurt you at all. They told me to take it for 8 wks and hopefully by that time I can stop.

Good luck.

acornmom wrote:hey everyone,
I was checking out different websites today (DH is working) and thought everyone may benefit from this website
http://www.gottwinz.net/forums/showthread.php?t=12133
It is discounts and suggestions for moms of multiples.... and since God knows the May mothers are infamous for our multiples figured we need all the discounts we can get! LOL
Hey acornmom,

Thanks so much! I actually registered for their site and bookmarked that page with all the discounts. They look great (especially the circus offer.. I cant wait to go!).

Hi Ladies -
I am cautiously ready to jump onto this thread. I have been lurking on your May/June thread so I feel like I already know some of you. I was on the June/July thread but most of those ladies (except Rosario) will have March due dates.

A little about me… DH and I have a wonderful son from our first IVF. He is a twin but we lost baby A at 11.5 weeks. We had a failed FET in March this year, and now a BFP in June. My official due date is February 21. My betas: 13dp3dt = 477 and 15dp3dt – 1196. My first U/S will be on July 6th. I’ll be 7 weeks at that point and will hopefully be seeing 1 or 2 heartbeats.

Some info about progesterone for Alexis and MedStudentMom2Be: Progesterone can range from 9-47ng/ml in the first trimester, with an average of 12-20ng/ml in the first 5-6 weeks of pregnancy. The corpeus luteum (the hole left in the ovary after ovulation) takes care of progesterone production until the placenta takes over around 10 weeks. No studies have shown an advantage of suppositories over PIO or vice versa. My RE says that the suppositories have a better effect on the actual pregnancy, but does not show up as strongly in the blood work. So, if you are doing just suppositories, your level may be perfectly adequate but not look so high in the blood work which is why many REs don’t test for it. The production by the corpeus luteum should be enough, but most REs like to supplement with PIOs or suppositories “just in case.” For my FET, I am actually doing both since no ovulation / no corpeus luteum.

Wow – lots of multiples in this group. My betas are higher than twin averages, but almost exactly half of what my betas were when I was actually having twins with my first pregnancy. I guess I will find out on the 6th.

Hope you all are feeling well… and I look forward to spending the next 30some weeks with you ladies!

EYCI: Welcome! Thank you so much for the detailed information about progesterone. The more I have been asking, the better I am feeling about my numbers. It helps so much to get as much information as possible!

EYCI- welcome!!! Congrats on your BFP!!! Can I ask if they know why you lost one twin? What are your current betas? I don't put too much weight into things because I am having trips and I have seen singletons with higher numbers :).

I wanted to ask everyone are you still feeling crampy? I have had this dull ache since 3dp5dt! I'm glad it's there because it reminds me everything is okay, but didn't know if I was alone...

Also my boobs are KILLING me!!!! Luckily not sick at all.. I think my extra b6 and b12 are helping!

Good luck everyone were one week closer to the end of our first trimester!!

welcome!
Hope everyone is still doing well.
Lovebug.. Yes, still crampy but the sore tatas have subsided...Slightly!
I would love not to feel so nauseated or at least sick to my stomach from time to time. I personally think I should own stock in gingerale! maybe I will look into b6 and 12?

Hello everyone,

EYCI, welcome!! So glad you are joining us! Thanks for the info on the progesterone. I was wondering why my doc didnt check the levels but your explanations makes a lot of sense. The suppositories are not too bad right now so I can put up with them for a few more weeks. I dont know how you ladies do it with the PIO shots. Ouch!
Oh, and dont worry about the betas. As lovebug said, the numbers are truly random. I was certain I was having a singleton because of my numbers, but alas, its two for me.

LoveBug, Im not really feeling too many cramps and no spotting thank god. But like acornmom, I am really feeling the nausea. It really stinks. I feel like I have absolutely no appetite and when I do eat a little (like half an egg) I get so full so quick, feel like I want to throw up. Acornmom, does gingerale actually work? I have been drinking water but maybe I should give gingerale a try.

Good luck everyone!!

Medstudentmom;
I swear by gingerale and coke, I am NOT a big soda/pop (depending on where you live LOL) person but DH and I went out to eat last night and I was so ticked off. We went to our favorite restaurant *Italian for the cravings I am having* and ate for the first time in a while... HOWEVER, by the time we got home... I was so sick, didn't throw up but so bloated I looked like I was 9 months pregnant! I just started drinking the gingerale and belching like crazy but it worked! Now granted I was up all night peeing but hey, that's nothing abnormal. I can't believe how much I have to pee already! I keep thinking this is only 6-7 weeks...I wont be able to leave the bathroom when I am 6-7 MONTHS pregnant! My hubby thinks this is hilarious and teases me all the time.

*on a side note regarding my hubby, he has been so funny each time I have had to do the injections that he (after some convincing) has let me poke him with a needle anywhere I have had to be poked. (stomach, leg) and last night he finally let me poke him in the butt! I was so excited that he would get to see why I complain all the time. HE DIDN"T FEEL IT!!! I was so mad. LOL I told him it was probably due to the fact he is bigger than I am and needed the bigger needle let me do it again but he laughed and said "no, once was enough!" He is too funny

How cute! I have been making idol threats to poke my dh in the butt to make him feel what I go through everyday!!

Speaking of needles and dh's, mine forgot to change the needle on the PIO this morning and stuck me TWICE with the needle you draw the oil up with!! I was like what the hell!!! It didn't hurt too bad, but he felt aweful! I was laughing the whole time. I think the news of triplets has made his brain mushy-LOL.

That's hilarious!!! I have a few needles left over from the cycle, I should try it on DH. But I dont think he will be up to it. lol.

Thanks for the ginger ale suggestion. I am definitely going to pick some up. I dont even care if I have to pee at night, I just want this nausea over with. And I want my appetite back! :-( How many more weeks of this? lol.
