Keekee - Once again welcome! I was going through Monash in Richmond. We did 6 cycles with them with no luck. We found we were getting very frustrated with the clinic and our Dr. We NEVER saw our Dr, he never did our procedures, it was whoever was on duty. Nobody knew us & we felt like a number, not a couple. A few things were missed by our Dr as well. Apparently I had a high FSH before I started my first cycle - I was never told about this, and the level was never rechecked. I was also put on a dangerously high dose of a blood thinner (we know a lady who was on the same dose as me & has just finished 6 months in rehab after having a major bleed in her brain!). We seemed to be goung around in circles, so did some research & found Sydney IVF to have the best success rates in Australia. They were fantastic. Our care was personalised & our Dr fantastic. He altered the things Monash overlooked & bam pregnant!!!
I know a lot of people has had success with Monash Richmond & I am not saying they are really bad, just our experience was not a positive one.

1st IVF 04/05 -ve
2nd IVF (FET) 06/05 -ve
FET July - cancelled as embryo did not survive
3rd IVF (stimulated cycle) - no embryos!

January 07 - went interstate to a new clinic and got BFP!!!!!!!
Thanks for that keekee
I so hope it works for me too this round. Silently at the back of my head im saying if it's meant to be it's meant to be. just to get me through those times when i think i've done something wrong to jeopardise my chance of a bfp. And yes it is a very hard road to travel down. and miss molly hope all is going we'll with your precious gift.

Wow, so many messages in so little time!!! Its good to see people are using this thread.
Jomae - How did your blood test go? Whats your next step? I have never had an FET so I'm in the dark... Yes I got my Brandy after transfer with QFG. DH just about had a fit, but now thinks it was the reason we got lucky.
Cheeky - Hang in there Hon! What day is your test date, so we can count you down. Don't worry about not feeling anything...I got pins and needles in my fingers and toes about 7 days into my 2WW but that was all. I still haven't had sore boobs (aparently that is "THE" sign of pregnancy!) and I'm 21 weeks preggers. I think what you feel is different for everyone and that unfortunately only the blood results will be able to give you a definitive answer. Doesn't stop us wondering though, does it?!?!
Keekee - Welcome! I am sorry to hear your problem and that your DH has suffered cancer. Why is it that some people have to go through so much, but 16 year old junkies can get pregnant at the drop of a hat??? We TTC for 5 years (3 failed IUI's) before getting lucky with twins on our first go at IVF....I still have to pinch myself that we had such luck! What stage are you up to? I look forward to supporting you to your BFP!
Miss Molly - How are you feeling? How many weeks are you now? Any sickness? It sounds like you had a rotten time with your old clinic. I have heard great things about Sydney IVF. QFG runs second to Sydney IVF and so we hear a lot about it!
I am better. I am still vomitting once a fortnight but I can cope with that. I can feel them squirming around inside which is a very strange feeling...I keep expecting to be hit with the runs, thats what it feels like.
This is my last week of full time work and I'm a little unsure of what I will do with myself for the next 12 weeks. You may be hearing fom me more regularly.
Lots of love,
Em

hi everyone
i seem to feel a bit better since starting to talk abt all this, i have my doc apt this friday and am starting to look forward to what he say this time instead of dreading it.
has annyone heard of Ovulex, has anyone taken it?
it is meant to be a natural product designed to re- adjust our bodies natural hormon levels, ie fsh, e2. i stumbled upon it on the net and wonder if it is just another load of c**p sold to desperate people like me..who want to try anything if it will help.
does anyone know?????

No, I haven't heard of that. To be honest I would be wary of anything that has a "natural" label stamped on it as it may interfer with what your doc has you on an dmake matters worse. Speak to your clinic nurse perhaps and see if they have heard of it.
There are a lot of people out there who will sell you unicorn wee and tell you it will solve all your problems but if it was in fact the miracle cure...wouldn't your clinic already be using it?
Ciao, Em

thanks em, you are truley blessed, as is everyone that is expecting. makes you mad abt the junkies @ 16 doesnt it, and then what do they thier precious gift?? i see ladies dragging kids around the suppermarket by the hair, and i swear i could rip their heads of, the looks they get from me i tell you!!!!
more abt me..my partner had radio therapy as a baby because he was born with one leg wraped around his head ( like to see that again, lol) which restricted blood flow for too long and caused his leg to go black and stop growing, so he now has one leg the size of his arm, awkward at times, anyhoows, because of this we have to have icsi, i have had a natural preg before, my son is 12yrs. so we didnt think it would be so hard, first time back in 05 i had 4 fat full follies all fertilized, didnt take, then we did FT, no luck, no in the further 9 cycles i cant get my follies to grow big enough, i get about 3-9 at only 3 10mm, so they cancell.
sooo frustrating, i want more answers now than , mmmm ok so try more, less, longer, shorter meds..ARGGG
wow what a waffle i am, sorry guys,
we have discussed ( between ourselves) donor sperm, on a natural monthly cycle, i wonder if that might be a better option, concidering i have had a natural b4 so i know my monthlys produce a follie of good quality, any ideas???
i mentioned to Doc if was time we thought abt other options a few months back and he sorta laughed at the idea, he said i still need a big enough follie, so does that mean each month we produce a grape sized egg, cause ive never passed one like that???
oh dear, look at me, going on and on...
yes cheeky, when do we here good news from you?

Hello Hello
Oh Boy so many posts where do I start Welcome KEEKEE glad to have you aboard you seem to have lit the board up I haven't seen the board so busy for a long time except for cheeky and I of late so definately welcome and it's great to have you here any thing i can help you with let me know. I haven't heard of Ovulex but i think I'm with em i would be very cautious wiht natural products I would check it out with your specialist before you took it. I must say i had weird pictures in my head of your hubby trying to get his leg around his head agian HA HA HA HA HA . To be honest I would be fustrated too if I had to have as many cycles as you, So good on you guys for hanging in there.I'ts great you guys can discuss Donors we had to go down that path and i tell you best thing we did
Cheeky Cheeky Cheeky are we getting nervous yet OOOOOOOHHHHH one week to go I don't know who's more excited you or me. I tell you though headaches was one of my early symptoms to so ooooohhhhhh more excitement i hope your avoiding those HPT this is the hard part.
It' funny everytime i write to you i have the urge to call you cheeky chops so if it slips out I'm sorry HA HA HA . Hows the hubby getting nervous for you is he letting you put your feet up and fussing over you.
Miss molly great to see you posting again how are you going are you still in your first trimester. pregnant in Jan is that right sorry to keep you repeating it if you've said already I havent got much time to post and theres been so many lately to go through to find the info.
Hello Em
Thanks for asking about me Yep the nurse taking my blood was nasty ended up with an instant bruise hope I don't get her again. I'm quite early in my cycle so i don't need to go back until monday the 5th of march for more bloods with possible ET on the 7th or 9th I'm having a natural cycle so its just like the tail end of a full IVF cycle except no HCG shots Im not sure if hell give me progesterone or not yet but suspect he will anything to help i say. Glad your only sick once a fortnight or so I guess i was lucky i didn't vomit once with DS mind you i hugged the bowl quite well a couple of times. And those little squirms isn't it great it certainly makes it feel real when you start feeling them move.
Yep some of those blood tests can leave you puntured. At one stage I didn't like wearing short selve shirts as some people looked at my arms and then gave me a strange look!
I'm currently on a cross over pill to get my period coming at just the right time. Dh works in the mines so we had to plan my egg collection and his biopsy when he is home. I start nose sprays on the 22nd and being my first ivf I'm not sure what to expect (I'm prepared for the worst!)
Em - It is a great feeling when they start to move in the early days! It's just when they have there feet stuck in your rib cage towards the end that got me!
Hi kery
Your right about the arms i've had strange looks aswell and it makes you wonder if they think your a druggie or something although it's probably just me being paranoid i probably had my fly down or food on my face HAHA.
Is that the 22nd of this month your talking about how exciting and your first go hey you'll be fine some people have affects from the nose spray i was on synarel my dh will claim i was a bit moody but i don't think i felt any different. The injections are more nerve racking but once youv'e done the first couple it's like youv'e been doing it for ever and wondered what the fuss was about the injecting phase is actually the most exciting bit i think it really makes you feel like things are moveing along. Does your hubby work in the mines like under the ground or is he above working scaryjob i think if hes under.
You've mentioned the little feet under your ribs so you have kiddies already how many do you have boys or girls (Nosey me) i agree with you about the feet under the ribs though i carried ds very high and i swear he had feet legs bum and everything else under my ribs the whole time mind you he was 57.5 cm when born so he was a long bub so who could blame him . well great to hear from you again chat soon
hey Cheeky
I'm having two embies put back ones a 5 cell ones a 6 cell and both grade 2's. 3 is the best grading my last ones were 8 and 9 cells grade 2 and a half and a grade 3 so theres a bit of difference so well see how things go.
Yea I think I was just being poranoid too about my hole punched arms! Dh works above ground but off shore on a island.
I have a son who is nearly 10 yrs from a previous relationship (seems so long ago now that I was pregnant with him). Yep I start this month and am also taking synarel. This has been such a long road already sorting out dh and getting hold of those little sperm that I am just glad we are finally at the icsi stage. When are you transfering your little embies back? I really hope it all goes well. Fingers and toes crossed for you!
Hi guys,
Wow- lots going on in the down under thread!
Welcome Keekee- sorry to hear about your long and trying journey. I feel for you and understand that horrible feel of utter despair. Your day will come and it will be your turn to be blessed with a beautiful child. Hang in there!
Cheeky- very excited to hear about your 2WW- well 1WW now. Fingers crossed!
Kery- good luck on your cycle. I didn't much care for the syneral (felt like my nostrils were going red raw and had some side effects, so last time I started to use the daily injection instead, which worked well). But this varies so much from person to person, so i'm sure you'll be fine. As for taking shots, a tip i got a while back from a nurse was to take your shots in the shower under hot running water. I found it didn't hurt as much (you can also try putting ice on the skin as well). I jabbed in the stomach which i found wasn't too bad. I suppose you need to try different things and see what works best for you. Good luck!
Thanks to all those who asked after me. I've been busy with work and the usual stuff. DH and I had our first visit with Dr. Anne Clarke and she was great. She took a bunch of blood from me and DH to run a bunch of tests. They do some pretty thorough semen analysis as well (next week) and she is pioneering a new sperm test that looks at DNA fragmentation- basically there are instances where parts of the DNA break off before they get to the egg. Anyway, she's running various tests and we meet with her in couple of week's time to get her recommendations. She put DH on Vitamin E, Elevit (multi vitamins usually for pregnant women) and co-enzyme Q10 vitamins. She asked me to stop taking Chinese herbs (as they can affect hormone levels) but ok to keep doing accupuncture. She also warned against caffeine, colas and alcohol- for both partners- can interfere with fertility. Am glad that she is doing more thorough test on DH so we can rule other things out (previous clinic didn't do nearly as many tests). Anyway, will know more when we go back.
