Hey Ladies

I have not posted in ages as I have been holidaying in sunny North Queensland....actually it rained a lot but was still nice.

Jo, sorry about the scan, it is so annoying when things like that happen...grrr....I hope they can book you in sooner than 4 weeks. I hope you are feeling ok otherwise. Thanks for the tip about the mobile. I have been playing the music to baby a few times a day and it makes him go nuts! He starts kicking the daylights out of me...I hope they are kicks of sheer joy and not annoyance! I know what you mean about the joy of kicking...although I have felt kicks since 15 weeks, DH was finally able to feel them while we were away, it was incredibly moving and continues to make us both smile!

Kareen, you poor thing....I feel like crap with one baby, I cannot imagine how it must feel to carry two. I hope the back pain doesn't get too bad...or the bottom pain for that matter! While I was away I picked up a pair of funky red crocs as I am suffering from incredible heel pain....I ain't never taking them off! I am trying to figure out how I could get away with wearing them to work but I work in a very conservative environment and would probably send the place into total chaos!

Vita, congrats on the scan. I hope that your appointment with the doctor cleared everything up for you. I am sure baby c is fine, these things often depend on the baby's position, the u/s technician, etc. As long as the baby continues to thrive everything is good. I am not surprised that you have not felt movement until now, it must be awfully hard for them all to move around in there!! Does any one baby move more than the others? Just curious to know whether their personalities are starting to show through yet and how it all works!

Tammy, I hope you are feeling better and you have found some strategies to cope with your warm classrooms. With regard to the swelling, I drink a sports drink a day (ie gatorade, staminade) and this has really helped to minimise swelling and cramping. It rehydrates quicker than water and just makes me feel better!

Justine, happy birthday to Sophie! I hope you all have a great weekend in Paris (sounds fabulous) and that Sophie has a ball at Euro Disney. Don't let MIL get you down, have fun and enjoy this special milestone.

Zoe, happy belated 7th wedding anniversary. 18 years together, wow, what an achievement. Enjoy the rest of your break and I hope work isn't too awful on Monday!

Hi to all those I have missed - I hope everyone is happy and healthy!

Nothing much to report here. DH and I did a baby shop tour of North Queensland while we were away! I live in a rural area and we have only one baby shop here (besides department type stores like K-mart, Target, etc) so we decided to visit every baby shop on our trip. We managed to pick up all of our nursery furniture, picked a theme for the nursery and bought tonnes of ridiculously expensive tiny clothes from cute boutiques. We had to freight a lot home as the car was bursting. Now all we have to do is put it all together and see what's missing....it is hard to keep track when you are in the midst of a shopping frenzy! We didn't pick up a pram or car seat but did decide on the models that we want and will order these on line or pick them up when we go to Brisbane (our nearest capital city) next month for a show.

We also attended our first ante natal class the other night. We had to sit on hard chairs for 3 hours while various Drs and nurses talked at us. DH and I had shopped for about 4 hours that morning then driven 3.5 hours home (the last leg of our trip), unpacked and did grocery shopping and played with the dogs, etc so I really didn't take much in towards the end and was more focussed on getting my sore bottom and weary body home to a comfy chair and some dinner! We didn't realise the class would go for so long or we might have at least taken some water! I am hoping that the next 4 weeks are a bit more interesting and I will certainly eat before I go and take water with me. We also did a tour of the delivery rooms and the hospital rooms....it didn't freak me out so that can only be a good thing! While we were there a friend of ours was in the next room having a c-section!! She delivered a healthy baby boy which is wonderful.

Anyway, I think I have written a bit of a novel....sorry for rambling! I promise to post shorter and more frequently from here on in!

Hope you are all having a great weekend...or.....avagoodweekend as we say down under.

Cheers
Heather

Hello Ladies:

I had an OB appt. this past Thursday. It went well, but I have gained 7 lbs. I believe that is 1/2 a stone. So far I have gained 1 stone and 4 lbs! I'm only at the 1/2 way point, so I hope that my weight gain does not double! Do any of you experts out there know how much weight that the average mother gains in the 2nd half of the pregnancy? My younger sister keeps telling me to be careful to not gain too much weight, as it is more difficult to get back into shape. I find myself eating our Halloween candy!! I shouldn't have bought it this early.

Jo: Sorry to hear about your cancelled scan. I know it is so exciting to actually be able to see your bundle of joy on a screen.

I have my chocolate lab, Max and a yellow lab, Katie. They are my babies. They are both in my office with me now. They sleep on a doggie bed beside our bed. However, sometimes they climb into our bed during the night.

Vita: I'm glad to hear that you are feeling movement. I'm not sure yet. I feel different tugging and pulling sensations, but I'm not sure if that is the little guy or not.

Kareen: I hope your back is doing better.

Heather: It was good to hear from you. I will have to try the gatorade. I did better during my last week's classes. I'm glad the weather has been nice for you. Our weather is changing here. It has been getting cooler, but with the leaves changing colors, it has been very beautiful.

Hello to Justine, Zoe and everyone else.

Take care all,
Tammy

Hello ladies,,
I haven't been on for a few days as my sister has been down and I feel I've missed so much!!!

Anyway, hope you are all well. Justine - hope all the birthday celebrations went well.

Tammy - don't woory about the weight. I laugh when you all talk about weighing yourselves - I didn't want to know beforehand and definately don't want to now!!!

Kareen - how's the back? Has the beast bone pain gone???

Jo - nightmare about the scan - hope the wait is not too long. Hope the sugars start settling soon...Great news on the kick. I had a very quiet day yesterday.... couldn't get the wee man to do anything all day and Steve was freaking. Think it was how he was lying though as he started to make up for it at night with Alien like movements!!! It didn't help that the day before, someone rushed past me very fast and bumped the bump - sp much so it pushed me back a bit and I let out a gasp.... stupid man he was. Had the midwife on Wednesday though and it took ages for the heartbeat to be found - she even had to go and get another machine :o She wasn't worried as apparently he gave her a good kick when she was prodding - not that I even felt it...

My sis left today and I'm knackered!!!! Her son is the same age as Sam and they spent EVERY waking second chasing each other and screaming - I lost count how many times the naughty seat was used. LOL. It's very quiet now..

Vita, Tammy, Heather and everyone else - hope you are all well.

Hello

How are you all?

Hi Heather, nice to have you back with us. I'm glad your trip was a success. I love shopping for baby things. I promised I would wait until after the scan before I did anymore but that now depends on how long I have to wait!

Your antenatal sounded a bit erm tiring. I hope the next session will be less draining!

Tammy don't worry about your weight gain. I think the average is 3 stone 32lb but some people don't put on hardly any whilst others put on tons. During all my pregnanices the weight gain has been between 28lb and about 77lb! I've put on about 32lb with this one already but it has stayed the same for the past month. As long as you eat healthily (as much as possible) then I really wouldn't worry. If you put on too much it just means that you have a little longer to get it off at the other end.

Don't worry about the Halloween candy. We bought some chocolates for Christmas on Friday night. The girls have already finished off a box! Will keep the rest locked in the shed until December!

Hi Zoe, glad you had a good time with your sister. I read today that for me (19 weeks) the baby now sleeps the same as if it was born, 8 hours away and 18 hours asleep. I think it's been quiet then all I have to do is sit down for a few minutes and it gives me a little nudge. I think the walking about/movement we make rocks them to sleep!

Hello Kareen, I'm pretty sure if your bra is leaving a red ridge all the way round it is definately time to get a new one! lol I hope that's not an underwire one you are (or should I say you were) wearing. I've got this picture of you walking round in a bikini top with your bump underneath. I hope you are wearing a top too! lol

Yes you've put on a lot of weight for your tiny frame but like you say there is two in there and you don't put on any less with twins just because you are small! I'm not far behind you and I have only one.

I'm feeling a bit down the past couple of days, hence the reason for not coming on. I'm so disappointed that I don't have a date for the scan. I know I will have one soon and it will be a much more detailed scan but that's not the point! With so many of us in the house I have to be organised and now I feel I can't arrange to do anything as I just don't know when I'm going to be called down there.

My sugar levels are getting me down. They are still so high despite the amount of insulin we are pumping in. I also have ++ of ketones every evening which isn't good but it goes away by morning so that is good. Sorry for going on, just feel a little down in the dumps, will snap out of it soon.

Alice is much better but Jodie has been poorly the last three days or so. It's hard to tell if she just is unwell or if it's the reflux back. She's been coughing lots, fever, deep breathing etc, all her reflux signs. She's dosed up on calpol and neurofen at the moment but she still tries so hard to be happy. The weather has changed which makes me think it could be the reflux. She goes in next Monday to have the tests repeated so we will know once and for all. If they show that she still has reflux then she has to go back on the waiting list for the op, let's just hope they don't.
Take care and I hope everyone is good.

Going to take the girls to my mum's in Hastings tomorrow. A bit of a long drive but I haven't seen her for a few months so will be nice. Will be back Tuesday evening, I can't stand being there too long! lol

Paul is due home soon so I'd best go and hoover so it look like I have done something today.

Take care and will be back on Tuesday night to see how you all are.

Hi everyone, sorry i havnt been on for a while again. glad to hear everyone is doing fine and getting bigger and bigger.im feeling really strong movements, some of them make me jump  they are that strong. they are so low down sometimes too. somtimes they are that low i feel like a foot is going to come out lol. i checked with the midwife and she said it was fine.
Is anyone thinking about the birth yet? im thinking about it all the time, some nights i lay awake just thinking about it. i must admit im petrified  :( . ive been told at my last scan it will be a c section, because of my low lying placenta. Its my biggest fear and i no im going to have to deal with it soon. i no this is far feached but im scared of dying :? or bleeding to death. i thought to myself if im that frightend maybe i will be better getting put to sleep? but then i thought what if i dont wake up and miss seeing my babies. Oh im just going to try and forgett about it for a while, i will probably have my section at 36 weeks, THATS 13 WEEKS! :?
The nusery is almost done. ive got my cots, but my mum wont let me put them up :( i think i will get dh to do it 2 weeks before. and i will set all there bedding up. There is no rush they will be in our room at first anyway. but i suppose i better put them up before or they will never be put together when the babies arrive, we will have our hands full.

im glad everyone is alright and i'll speak to you all soon.

loads of love Hayley xxx

Hello All

Glad Sophie enjoyed herself, it does sound like she had fun! When do you get the results for the GTT? Isn't it lovely that Sophie is so protective of her mummy already! I wouldn't worry about the weight, it will soon drop off especially having two little ones to run after!

Hi Hayley, nice to see you again. It's lovely to get all those kicks, mine has really started to kick me recently rather than just feeling movement. It's kicking away as I'm typing!

Please don't worry too much about the birth. At the end of the day they can't come out the way they came in, they wouldn't fit in that tube! I've had 4 births. 3 "normal" and 1 section and to be honest (turn away now if you are going to give birth naturally), the section was the best birth I ever had. I could sit down after, I recovered so quickly, even though I got an infection. The midwives on the ward said they had never seen anyone recover so quickly. I am already booked to have one this time at 39 weeks, if I make it that far, and I am not in the least a bit apprehensive or nervous.

The anaesthists are all so funny. I have been to the operating room loads of times either for myself or one of the children and they are all great. They are always joking and laughing to relax you and take your mind of everything. I had a spinal with Jodie and will do again this time.

Hi Kareen, glad the doctors appointment went well. 35cm wow, that's good, I guess that's normal for a twin pregnancy. You could moan if you wanted to, I do it often enough!

Hope you enjoy your shopping trip. I love shopping, but not for bras though. I need another one as these ones are getting a bit full. I've already sold some of my maternity tops on Ebay that I bought as I've out-grown then already!

I'm feeling a bit better after being at my mum's. It always makes me realise how much I like my house. It's like wipe your feet on the way out! lol No, it's not that bad, well it is a little bit. They are doing up this house and it's so dusty, they smoke too and think just opening a window is ok but it's not, I hate being there but I've done it now.

The hospital phoned this afternoon and my scan is on Thursday at midday so technically it is before my original one (that was at 2pm!). Hopefully by Thursday afternoon I will be logging on to tell you all how great it was, how perfect the baby is and what flavor it is!

Going to put the girls to bed now.

Vita, Tammy, Jess, Heather Riley, Anna etc hope you are all good, thinking of you all, Jess how was Florida?

Take care

Jo

Good morning ladies!

Zoe, Jo and Justine: Thanks for the reassurance regarding the weight gain. I just want to get into shape when I'm off with the baby. I will not teach face to face classes for 3.5 months after the baby is born. Hopefully, I will have lost my weight by then. My good friend lost all of her weight in 3 months and is now smaller than she was before her pregnancy. She attributes it to breast feeding. Supposedly, breast feeding burns 500 calories a day.

Zoe: Now that your sister is gone, it looks like you need some rest.

Hayley: I'm a little worried about the birth also. I do not have a high pain tolerance. I have already talked to my OB doctor about having a C section. I also have trouble breathing after a large meal. My doctor said instead of having 3 normal sized meals, have 6 smaller snack sized meals.

Jo: Wonderful news about your upcoming scan! It is reassuring to hear that your C section was your easier delivery. My friend had her baby by C section and had no problems at all. My OB doctor did say that insurnance companies do not like to pay for a C section unless it is necessary. If my baby is on the large side, I believe that will be enough to convince the doctor to deliver via C section. :) Am I nuts for wanting a C section?

Kareen: I'm so glad to hear that your check up went well. Did you have an ultrasound? I have not had an ultrasound for several weeks now and I miss seeing the little guy.

Justine: So glad to hear about your 28 week scan. Hopefully, you won't leave us to join the 3rd trimester site :(

Take care all,
Tammy

Kareen you daft mare, I hope you wake up feeling better. I can't go anywhere without eating. I usually wake up starving then it continues until I fall asleep and then I would probably dream of eating if I was asleep long enough to dream!

Tammy don't worry about the weight. You must remember that it takes 9 months to put all the weight on, you have to give yourself the same amount of time to get rid of it. If it happens sooner then that's great. And yes your friend is right, breast feeding isn't just great for the baby, it's great for us too, helps the womb to contract back to normal - like we know what normal is anymore! Emma was only 17 weeks old when I fell pregnant with Jodie and some how, I haven't a clue how (I couldn't breastfeed), I'd lost all my pregnancy weight plus another stone when I went for the weigh-in with Jodie!

Of course you're not nuts wanting a c section. Over here you can only have one if it's medically viable. If you just choose to have one then you have to go private. They've agreed to mine because I've had a previous section and a baby with shoulder dystoxia.

I wish I could take my bra off occassionally, if I did they would just bounce off my belly! I've been using cocoa butter for the stretch marks, it seems to be ok at the moment but I hate the smell. I go to bed smelling of a chocolate moose, though some people may like that!

I've had a really nice day. Went out at 9.30 and left Emma and Jodie with Hannah (half term this week). I went to my sister's and she cut my hair. I then went to my old work and went out for lunch with the girls and I've just dyed my hair. My back is killing me though bending over the bath all that time!

I'm so excited about tomorrow. I have the midwife at 9.30. Flu jab at 10.15 then off to London for my scan at 12. I hope everything is ok, I'm sure it will be, I have no doubts. I hope it opens its legs so we can see whether it's Ellie or George. If it's George we may change the name before it's born. Paul wants to call it George Carter James Baker but I've taken the Carter bit out. My husband still thinks we are in the 70's! Emma is Emma Tara which is after Emma Peel and Tara King (the Avengers a programme in the 60's). Jodie is Jodie Regan - I chose Jodie and Regan is after Jack Regan in the Sweeney (a programme in the 70's) hence the George Carter (Jack Regan's partner!). We will see and if we do find out the sex I'm not coming home until I've bought something blue or pink or it!

Right best go I'm falling asleep.

Take care and I will check in tomorrow when I'm back - that's if I can type after the flu jab!
