Hi cookiegirl...

I went to IM ( institut de marques) in Barcelona Spain for 1st DE and got preggeres 1st time. Donor was 26 and proven before. Unfortunately I had a early miscarriage the docs think because i have an auto immune disease and need more progesterone and steroid support. Hence me swapping clinics to Athens for more tests and immune support.

Honestly it's a numbers game ivf and ttc( trying to conceve) and
basically the chances are the same in any stuation to get preggers 1:3
( 1 in 3) make it to a BFP! Hope that you get that BFP 1st shot babe... you've been pregnant before so your giving your body the best chance with younger eggs....good luck xxx

Hi Ladies:

I heard from our RE that our chance of getting pregnant with a donor is 60 to 70 percent. and 40 percent of those BFP's take home twins.

Just what our guy said.....

Still waiting for A F. So glad to hear about all of the good vibes going on with this thread. Go Carolyn...go!

morning eggies !!

Gigi - oh i so hope your Re is right :D - come on Af - doing a jig for you - did you try the accupuncture to help ??

Jen - test date is 24th - but won't last that long !! sounds like you had an action planned weekend - have you been away in motorhome or are going - DH and I looked into hiring one to tour north of scotland but they are so expensive to hire and then fuel on top could have 2 weeks in caribean for around the same price  - with some sunshine thrown in !!

Summer - thanks I caught the baby dust and hopefully its workign its stuff

Chris/Pooh/sabi/kelly - sending you all hugs

Nothing much to report this end - just knackered, hungry and sore boobies and occasional cramps - weighed myself this morning and although I feel I am eating more than normal I have lost 2lbs   - not sure how thats working - well my theory is that the embies are taking the extra nutrition and I can quite happy to keep that thought at the moment !! Had a good shop yesterday bought some summer sandals and a couple of new tops - both which will grow with me when needed - hope you noticed the PMA there

catch you all later xx

good morning!

carolyn -- all sound like wonderful signs leading you down the path to a BFP! Got my fingers crossed for you! Keep up the PMA! One week almost over! Already have those HPTs all lined up and ready to go? :D

cookiegirl - I am 44 and dh is 50. I am currently pregnant after our 1st try with DE after 3 failed ivf cycles. So yes, it can work! Our donor was 30 and already has 2 children.
My ivf RE said we'd have a significantly better chance if we switched to DE. The DE clinic we used, said they have a 58% success rate, which no matter how you look at things, is much higher than using your own eggs when you are over 40.
Not everyone has the same "beginner's luck" that we had, but everyone's chances are higher.
Good luck with your decision and don't hesitate to ask any questions!

jenB - your mini-holiday sounded like a great getaway for you and dh! Glad the weather was also nice! How often do you guys do that? Do you plan much in advance, or just spontaneously hit the road?

gigi - hope AF shows up soon!! Will be thinking of you!!

Wishing chriss, sabi, kelly and everyone reading a great end to your week,

xx summer

oh Jen - that just sounds like my kind of heaven .. can you just park up anywhere or do you need to stay on proper sites ?? My parents ahve a caravan and they are always away - tey like to stay on sites that are just a field with water and electric hook up and max of 5 vans - they are away now in the Lakes

Do you go out to Athens for initial meeting before cycle and how long do they say you will need to stay out there ?? - just think this time next year you will be popping the pills and slapping the patches on ... it will be here before you know it xx

Summer - thanks hon for the PMA - its still good - felt a bit nauseaus )sp??) yesterday too :? - think may POAS as tom will be 7dp 5 dt - what stage did you POAS ??

hugs to all the other egg heads - obviously working too hard

Have a great weekend and will keep you posted if POAS !!!

jenB - really sounds great, your home away from home! I had no idea you could ski in Scotland! Have a nice time visiting the parents! Wishing you lots of nice weather!

carolyn -- I have a good feeling for you! :D I also read your other post about the night sweats, which I also had this time around -- they are a result of all the hormones. They will let up after your body gets used to what is going on inside!
After about 2 weeks, I started to feel nauseaus, especially if I didn't keep eating a little something every few hours. At that point, I didn't know for sure if I was pregnant, or just had really low blood pressure!
I think it was between day 7 & 10 that I started with the HPT's. I always did them in the morning. The first one had an extemely light 2nd line, and it took the maximum amount of time, at least 10 minutes??, for it to show up. So, be patient and think positive!! After that, it took a a number of days before the 2nd line came up quickly and then get really dark. It is a great thing to see -- Wishing you lots of luck!!

Have a nice weekend, Egg-heads!!

Hi eggies, can I join you? I need a home. I used to be on Apr/May, June/July, Oct/Nov/Sept. ivf cycle buddie threads, but now I'm here. I've had 3 unsuccessful attempts at IVF with my own eggs, and now we are preparing for donor IVF. Our hope is that my 32yr old sister will be a good candidate to donate. I'm so blessed to have her! I will start meds for my prep cycle on 4/23 and so excited to get started! We have to wait until after June 1 to start tests on my sis due to insurance purposes. After 2 miscarriages last year, I'm so ready for this to happen! I'm also turning 38 next week which stings a little because we've been trying for aprrox 6 yrs now. I'm so scared that my sis won't be considered a good candidate (in reality we are half sisters) because apparently she has been told she has small ovaries - I also have small ovaries. We will have to wait and see.

Hi JDC, Welcome! Wishing you lots of luck that all works well with you and your sis! Good luck with your upcoming testing and cycle. I hope this new direction will bring an end to unhappy times of the past and instead bring a bright and happy future with you as mom.

Sabi - good luck with your appt on Monday! I'm sure once you get started talking, then questions will come to mind. Don't be shy to ask about anything and everything! And, if you think of things later, you can always call or email your clinic. I'm sure you are excited to get going. All the best!

poohgirl - nice to hear that all is moving along for you! It does feel good to have a schedule in hand! Makes it at more real! Hooray!!!!!!

I'm excited that there will be so many of you with the chance to cycle together and mutually support each other! I think that helps alot! Wishing you all BFPs!!

chriss - yoga and art - something for the mind and body and soul. I'm sure by the time your cycle starts you'll be incredibly well-balanced and at peace and ready for those embies to snuggle in........

Carolyn, thinking of you and hope all is going well in your 2WW, which is already down to 1 week! Even if you are back to work this week, the 2nd week does just creep along and there is no getting around that! Keep up the PMA and sending you some more baby dust!!

hi to gigi and jenB!
Gigi
- any sign of AF? Just think about wearing your best undies and perhaps that will do the trick. :D

I go back this week for my scan and should be able to say goodbye to the extra meds! I hope, like always, that this little miracle growing inside is still doing well.

Take good care and have a great week, Egg-heads!

JDC: JDC: We all have very similar experiences as you so I am sure you will find support and a sense of belonging here....I had 2 mc(s) and 1 failed IVF in a year. Hang in there...with the rest of us.

Carolyn: Still praying for you daily and sending positive vibes to you. i have an ap appointment next week to help with AF.

Sabi: good advice about re-reading the first pages of this thread...did you actually read the book mentioned? I'd like to get a good reading source about all of this ed stuff.

poohgirl: can't wait to follow you from the beginning to end. good things await you. we are all pulling for you.

getting burnt out from all the healthy eating and running lately. I think i'm going to start growing lettuce leaves soon. being healthy is part of this journey. will not give up wine and cup of morning joe....

Good morning eggies!!
Welcome JDC - I too am using donor eggs. Take one day at a time & don't worry about your sister's ovaries- Think positive. My sister had a lot of health issues that I discussed w/the doc & he didn't seem to blink an eye.
For reasons to painful to discuss- she was unable to donate- but it had nothing to do w/the health issues we discussed w/the doc. I think its wonderful that your sister is willing & able to donate. What a special bond you will all have.
Sounds like this is your new home! You'll like it here, a lot! Lots of support & strength! My donor has completed her tests & dh & I go tomorrow. Maybe we'll be cycling together.

Ladies- I'll catch up later.

Smiles!
