I was with Prof. Chapman at IVF Australia (St. George Hospital) in Sydney and decided to get a second opinion at Fertility First at Hurstville (as i heard good things about Dr. Anne Clarke and she's also known as a specialist for PCOS- even though technically, i just have polyscystic ovaries, not the full-blown syndrome).
Good luck with your appointment. Let us know how things go.
I firmly beleive that getting a second opinion after several failed attempts is such a great idea.
Keekee - I could NEVER handle a job interview after a doc appointment. That would be way too stressful. What type of drug regime are u doing with your cycles? Have they tried different approaches? See I can be nosey too! I hope your appointment goes well today - keep us updated.
I am now 9 weeks pregnant! Sounds so weird to say that! I am due around October 4th. I have been feeling pretty terrible most of the time. Morning sickness and fatigue. It is good to feel bad though!! I swore I would never complain about pregnancy symptoms, but I do it all the time to DH!!! I figure just because I conceived via IVF does not mean I am not entitled to winge like other pregnant women.
I hope everyone is well

hi girl,
ozstock, i grew up engadine sydney, sorry but i am glad i got out, i am a country chick now.
well as for my job interview, which i wasnt clear headed abt to start with, i was held up at the doc ( as we are ) and was sent up for bloods so i missed my interview, i reshedualled it for monday, thank god.
i have tried every wich way with icsi stim cycles, i asked doc abt iui with my partners sperm, and he sent me offf for all the test and dh sperm count checked again, it was low count and motilit last time, (2years ago) but he suggestes it might be woth a go, since the stimms are working for me.
i baffle him i think!!!!!
he also said try anything your healthfood shop that might help, do your research fisrt, but he said it shouldnt hurt...
my fsh levels are normal but my e2 was 100, meant to be 2000 he said, by crieky.
me; 1st cycle jan 05, 4 follies, 1 fresh transfer 1 FT
9 cycles since all with follies too small, cancelled
heartbroken
Keekee,
What a cooincidence- I live about 10 minutes from Engadine- at Grays Pt. So moved into the shire about 4 years ago although still not entirely used to the insular aspects (but also has lots of great points- close to nature but not too far from the city etc.)
It sounds like your doctor doesn't really know what to do with you- randomly referring you to the healthfood store... I was a bit confused how you said the stims were working with you but your follicles are too small and they keep having to cancel your cycles??? Have you been 9 IVF cycles with all the drugs etc. but not the EC/ET? I don't know how you do it! That's got to incredibly taxing mentally and physically!
I had the opposite problem where they had to cancel my IVF cycle as i had too many follicle and was a big OHSS risk. Second time they halved my dosage and i was still borderline OHSS but only 2 blastocysts to transfer (which didn't take). You know there are lots of things your DH can take to increase sperm count- zinc, and the other stuff my doc has asked my DH to take.
Also, seems odd to go from ICSI to IUI- ICSI is obviously used when there's sperm issues whereas IUI is usually used when there isn't a problem with fertilisation. Just my layman's understanding...
Sounds like if you can travel and afford to get a second opinion, it wouldn't hurt to see another clinic. Missmolly mentioned Sydney IVF which has an excellent reputation but is one of the most expensive IVF clinics. I suppose if they charge more and get it right the first or second time, it's still cheaper in the long run and gets you to where you want to be- pregnant!
There's another website you can check out and post questions to medical practitioners in the field- Sharedjourney (in the US). Some of the drugs are different but i found they are very knowledgeable and responsive to your questions. Mightn't hurt to post a question to them. http://sharedjourney.com/yabbse/
Hi girls how is everyone
KeeKee just reading your posts i think i agree with Missmolly and ozstock and would be getting a second opinion .by telling you to try anything you can find at your health clinic sounds like hes hoping you come across some miracle home remedy that will help him wing you a BFP mind you if that happen who would care that would be great. I think thats one of the hardest parts of the whole Ivf treatment you go to these specialist and you trust your time, money and certainly your hopes with this person who you don't know and you'd like to think that they know what they are doing and who aren't out to see how much of our money they can scam. theres nothing worse than coming out knowing less than you knew before you went in because they the meant to be specialist are not sure. have you done your whole nine cycles with the same doc . Sorry about your interview its lucky your able to reschedule. I live rural also i could never live in sydney sorry ozstock but too too busy.
Hey Missmolly
nineweeks thats great your nearly at the end of the first trimester just wait you won't know your self you'll be full of energy and not feeling so off seeing were all adding our nosey questions do you know what your having obviously it's a baby HA HA, but pink or blue?
Hello Ozstock
glad your new doc is looking further into you and your partners situation its so weird to hear you say dh is on elevit it's amazing what differnet things can do . sounds like she very thourough which is definately what you want . so goodluck and let us know how you get on.
hey kery
I don't think i'd like the idea of dh working under the ground his work must keep him away from home a bit and make the whole process a bit harder trying to work around when hes home so its great its working out for you. hopefully my transfer is this wed or friday coming i have another blood test this monday and will hopfully know then.
hi cheeky
sorry have to run the boys just woken will post you later today
Hi cheeky
yes i did as much as i could dh had tp spend his whole time fixing the sisters car so i was a bit board anyway we had the first bloods taken which was the reason for going down and i'm back again tommorrow for more bloods i'm thinking when i ring at lunch time for the results they are going to tell me i have already ovulated i just hope they havent got me in to late i so much like the idea of home ovulation kits like you do i'd hate to think they say sorry missed you by one day to many we'll have to wait till next month now arghh the stress. so i guess it depends on the results as to when but definaately this week tues or wed i suspect if i havent missed the timing that is.
Anyway how about you whats the vibe your getting do you think its worked for you. you must feel pretty normal seeing it was a non stimmed cycle. ooohhhh less than one week to go nervous nervous nervous. glad works keeping you busy makes the time go quicker to. I hope the head aches aren't too much they will be so worth it when you get your big fat positive
Enough from me take care all oohh is anyone else watching saving babies on thursday nights
hello, thanks for all your replies,
i think when i said to you all that doc said just try anything it came across a bit understood, he did say try whatewver you think will work, he was meaning like evening primrose, dhea, Elevit vit c and calcium, he also recommended an anti-oxident for dh. i didnt really he mean he said just try anyold thing.sorry..
however, i do think i should be looking at a second opinion, i live so far from melb and it will be really hard to see a doc from 4 hours away. how could i do this??
as far as the icsi, we were trying that yes, because of sperm issues, but they cannot retrieve my eggs, i just dont respond to the drugs, so i think his way of thinking is that if they track my natural cycle, put the week sperm as close as can be to the egg, they might be good little fellas and do thier job, they just cant make it all the way on their own, sounds like we are going backwards i know..
my very first cycle we has EC (4) and then FT (2), niether worked.
ozstock thanks for web addy, i will look it up..i still know lots of ladies arounf the sutherland shire, miranda, cronulla ect, i am now 38 its been so long since i was up there, wow,
i hear there is a mens version of elivit comeing to stores soon, sounds promising!!
Jomae, thanks for your reply, and i agree with you all, i just get so confussed, and i wish i had found this site years ago, you just accept what doc has to say, (he has a good reputation mind you) but each one has their style, and its time to try something else..
are you haveing FT this week, good luck, do you still have more frosties??
me; 1st cycle jan 05, 4 follies, 1 fresh transfer 1 FT
9 cycles since all with follies too small, cancelled
heartbroken
hey keekee
we'll I just hope whichever way you go I hope it works out for ya because that many failed cycles I take my hat off too ya and any of the other women. I'm on my third attempt and believe me I'm finding it really hard so I wish u all the best.
hey jomae
I so hope u won't miss ovulation. The nurse said i might have.
Going on my af date. but the bloods proved I hadn't missed it. Keep positive and I have my fingers and toes crossed that your transfer will go ahead yay.

Cheeky - hot spells could be the same as my "tingly" moments that I had in my 2ww. I thought it was very weird then but now I think of it as the moment that the embryos implanted. So take this as a good sign and hopefully thursday will bring you the best news ever!
Miss Molly- How are you feeling? Not long till you pass the 12 week milestone. Have you told everyone? We told everyone after I got the BFP result. Everyone thought we were crazy for telling so soon but I figured after 5 years of waiting to be able to say those words, I was entitled! And besides I don't believe in jinxes.
Jomae - I do hope you haven't ovulated! Sending all my positive vibes out west for you (are you out west? I always think of you as west of brissy for some reason!) (you can't be south or east I guess). Yes I am addicted to saving babies. Everyone is concerned that I am watching it and will get myself upset but I sort of NEED to see it as I know that my babies have a good chance of needing the intensive care ward and I have to prepare myself. Besdies the show is called "saving babies" not "saving most, but letting a few die" Those twins are so timy and I marvel at the fact that they are only 4 weeks bigger than my two.
KeeKee- I was told to take Elevit by my doc. He says its the best thing on the market for pregnant/ttc women. He said he didn't care if I kept nothing down as long as I had the Elevit tablet in me! Your doc does sound baffled by you and I too can't really offer any advise except that ICSI is the best thing for you as they need to make sure that whatever eggs you produce get fertilised.
Ozstock - when do you see your doc again?
Kery - When do you start the Synarel? Lovely stuff that.
Well its still bloody hot up here and I am actually wishing I was at work so I can get through the day and get to bed again. I know its just the hormones talking but I feel that I am just treading water at the moment, waiting for something to happen. Is this restless feeling normal so early on in the pregnancy?
