Hi ladies

I find out in about three weeks. My first beta was 570 so I guess I will find out soon enough. I have spoke to other ladies with high betas and still have just one, so who knows. Anyway thanks for your comments!! Good luck with your pregnancies or little ones already here!!!

Hi! I hope you don't mind that I've crashed your thread, but I have a question for you twin mommies!

I'm currently 8 weeks and 4 days with twins, but at every u/s one twin measures much smaller than the other (also has a lower HR).

For instance, I had an u/s at 7 weeks and 3 days and one twin measured 3 days behind the other (twin A measured: 7 weeks and 2 days with a HR of 151; twin B measured: 6 weeks and 6 days with a HR of 123). Yesterday, I had an u/s at 8 weeks and 3 days and the twins still had about the same discrepancy (twin A measured 8 weeks and 2 days with a HR of 171; twin B measured 7 weeks and 5 days with a HR of 151).

I'm concerned about this and was wondering if any of you had a twin size discrepancy as "large" as mine? How large is too large for a size discrepancy--3 days, 4 days, 1 week?!?

The most annoying part is that my next u/s won't be until my first trimester screening test which isn't for another 3.5 weeks. AHHHHHH. I would have thought they would have watched me a little more closely considering all of this.

Anyway, sorry to go on and on about me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Congrats to you ladies!! I hope your cuties aren't giving you too much trouble and that you're able to get some sleep (wishful thinking, huh?!?)

rlk1~ Congratulations! Twins are ao great and Im sure you and dh are thrilled! Good reason to be! Don not worry at all about the difference. Mine had about the same gap for a long time and are both happy and healthy. My guess is you have a b/g set of twinners!

STay with us here and soooo many of these awesome twin mommies will help answer all your up and coming questions. Plus, we LOVE to live our baby days thru you!!!!

Again, congrats and the gap is VERY normal!

rik--I think discrepancies are pretty normal. I don't remember mine having any major discrepancies, but that early in my pregnancy, I was getting U/S at my RE's office, and they were VERY reassuring....so maybe I did have a big difference and knew it wasn't a big deal? I honestly can't remember. Congrats and enjoy your pregnancy! I wish you the best...

Kery--did you have another beta after your first? I just remember my 2nd beta went through the roof! Good luck and keep us posted! Either way (one or two bambinos), I'm so happy for you!

Kimberly--Thanks about the invite! I can't take credit...a friend did them for me! I also "borrowed" the idea about the # of diapers, etc. I can't wait to see the printed cards! I'm getting excited/sad at the same time about the upcoming b-day. I just can't believe they're going to be one. YET, I am so psyched we survived the first year!

I have to check out your blog...I need to bookmark it on my computer, so I can check in on you! Good for you about the sign language--I have books, and I was doing it for a while, but I"ve been slacking. I've got to do better.

Hi guys,

Sorry for MIA. We had some visitors and of course, my Mom left! All is good though. However, stupid me remembered the appt time wrong and missed the 2-mos well check appt. It is rescheduled to next week. They will be exactly 3 mos-old next Monday.

I cannot belive they are 3 mos old. They are getting so big already. I think Aly is at least 12lbs and Noah probably more than 13 lbs. We'll see next week.

How is everybody? I missed reading so many posts but sounds like all is well.

rlk1, my daughter was also smaller than my son from the start, but she is all well. I think it is very common and it shows that no babies are alike (unless identical!) from the start.

Anyway, I have to try to get some sleep. My DH is taking care of Noah overnight and me Alyson. They wake up once so it's getting better. They chug pretty quickly but burping is another story. Any good tricks? My DH is taking the parental leave the entire May and we are having lots of fun!

Have any of the twin mommies on this board had to deal with having a cerlcage?
There is a chance that I have an incompetent cervix and I might have to have this procedure.
I am wondering if you have had one, when did you deliver and did you have any complications because of it?
Also, were you on bedrest?

tolbee--glad you're hanging in there without your mom's help! Yeah! As for burping, oh, I'm glad I don't have to deal with that anymore....do you know the "hula"? If not, I can explain it to you. That one worked great for Braeden. I think Ellie is part sailor, so she could rip some good ones!

sara--before IVF, I had a DNC, and my doc said I might have the cervix issues too....luckily, though, I didn't have to have a cerclage. My body just adjusted I guess? I've known some gals who did have it done, and I think they eventually did go on some sort of restricted schedule....I'm just not sure of the details? But, I know we twin mommas will do whatever it takes to bake these babies, right? Good luck to you! When are you due?

Hi Twin Mommies and Mommies-to-be,

I haven't been on this thread in awhile but I've been keeping up with some of the action!

I am now 18 weeks along and feeling great. I don't think that the reality of having twins has sunk in yet! I am not sure it will until their arrival. I am starting to show a little which makes it seem a bit more real than the first while.

Anyway, perhaps I am naive, but I am due Oct 15th and I thought that I would work until the beginning of Sept - at which point I will be 34 weeks and may want a few weeks off before the arrival of the twins. Obviously knowing that their arrival may be at 36 weeks or 38 weeks - it is unknown! But recently I've had friends telling me that they know twin moms who stopped work after 6 months under the doctor's direction. I will ask my doctor this question the next time I see him, but I thought I'd check with everyone here to see when they stopped working. I am just trying to prepare myself. Here I was thinking that I'd be working until beginning of Sept and now I am hearing I could be off as early as mid-July - yikes!

Hope everyone is doing really well - both those with little ones at home and those who are preparing for the 'big change'!

Kelly--I'm glad you're doing well! 18 weeks--yeah! I was just thinking about this time last year....I finally had to stay home from work. I"m a first grade teacher, and I was doing great through my pregnancy. Around 32 weeks, I went part time, simply because I was exhausted, and my doc and I were being "cautious". (Since I was on my feet all day, the odds were going to catch up with me, kwim?). I continued to work until about this time last year--I was around 33 or 34 weeks. I started to dilate, so they told me to stay home. I delivered a day shy of 37 weeks, so I thought I did pretty well. I know a LOT of twin mommas who work far into their pregnancies. I guess it just depends on your body and your job. Good luck!

Hi ladies...sorry to be MIA...Buckeye, how amazing you worked so long! I admire that, I work from home (writer) and even that was difficult for me...

all is well with my beanies...my son is a HUNGRY boy, he screams for his bottle, it is Loud!
My daughter is quiet and sweet and patient (she has to be, her brother is adorable but soooo impatient!)...but I think she has reflux, she has had projectile vomiting on and off for the past 10 days. sigh...the pediatrician just said to keep an eye on it, but I need to call again tomorrow. so hard to watch her throw up...but she NEVER complains...

Tolbee, keep up the great work...you are doing so well.
Sara: I think you are lucky to know you have cervix issues...some twin mommies aren't so lucky and they find out the very hard way...good luck with the cerclage...bed rest is not so bad if you have someone loving taking care of you...
What i do know is this: Do whatever it takes to keep your babies healthy...my last 2 weeks I was on bedrest and that meant no stairs, going out, etc...my babies were born at 37 weeks and were very very healthy...my hubby took good care of me...
I had preeclampsia, and still have some issues because of it (wavy vision problems, etc)..that should go away, the neurologist said.

ok, I am droning on...sorry...congratualtions to Kelly and Sara and lots of love to all of you.

Ladies,
Thank you so much for the wonderful and informative responses.
My due date is Dec 15 (my 4 year old, Stellas, bday!). I am assuming I will not go to forty weeks though!?
I live in the mountains of Colorado so I am alittle nervous about our geographic location. We dont have a hospital with a level three nursury, and from all the books (Barbara Lukes' being the BEST so far), it seems that is what I might need. Any thoughts on this? I know it is so hard to guess what is going to happen. I think this will be a major lesson in patience!
Are there any other books you thought were great?
I did have an appt today and I think we will have to do a cerclage as a preventative measure (and err on the side of caution). Especially considering where we live. If I had pre-term labor I would have to be air lifted to Denver (that doesnt sound so fun!).
I am really taking it one week at a time still though.
I love to keep up and read how everyone else is doing.
18 weeks seems like a good time to start showing. I hope I am that lucky!

Hi everyone,
I wanted to ask some advice on breastfeeding twins. My c-section is a month away and I am planning on breastfeeding my baby girls. I was wondering if any of you can offer any advice on how to do it with twins. I do have a breastpump and some bottles so that I can get help with feedings but I also don't want to have nipple confusion.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone...I hope everyone is doing great!

We had our 30 week ultrasound yesterday and everything looks good. Our little girl is still trying to put on weight. She was at 2lbs 12oz and our little boy is 3lb 11oz. The doctor had no concern what-so-ever. He said "you gotta big one and a little one." Nothing really to report other than that...oh and my wife is at the "I am sick of being pregnant stage"

He expects she should make it to week 37-38. Then she started to cry because she cant believe she will be pregnant for another two months. I told her "would you rather have them in you or in a NICU with tubes and wires going everywhere for the next two moths. Real sopportive husband huh?

woodcliff--I hope your daughter's reflux issues get better. That sucks....and it's so hard to see them in discomfort at that age. Have you tried any of those wedges for sleeping? I never had to deal with that but my good friend did. The wedge was her saving grace, along with some meds, I think. How's the nanny situation? I hope it's gotten better!

Sara--let's hope you don't need to be airlifted---what a site that would be?

As far as the level 3 NICU...our OB said if we delivered before 30 weeks, we would have to go to the area hospital that has level 3 (which luckily, is very close). That's due to lung development issues. Otherwise, we would go to the hospital my doc usually delivers at (which had a level 2 NICU). I was very relieved to get to the point I did, so I was able to go to our local hospital. I wouldn't worry too much about it yet. But, I would definitely work out a plan with your doc, just in case!

Kimberli--Kholtan would be your best advisor on this, since she's STILL bfing! wow! I bf'ed for the first three months. I think the best thing to do is keep your options open. I totally wanted to bf, but I never expected that I'd have to supplement my babies with formula. Duh--it never even DAWNED on me that I would have that issue. So, milk supply was an issue for me at first, because my babies were getting bottles too! I was lucky because we didn't have much nipple confusion. Mine were excellent suckers--they sucked the HE!! out of my nipples! I ended up stopping because I was in pain from my daughter's baracuda sucking style, and I had to go back to work p/t. Good luck to you! Don't worry too much about it. There's not a whole lot you can do beforehand, kwim? A pump is a good idea though...it'll help you get your supply up. I had the medella, but I wish I would have rented a hospital one. But, that's just me.

vickers--be nice to your wife!!

It's very uncomfy at that stage....oh the memories! I hope she can cook a while longer....it'll be worth it!

We're good here! Ellie took her first steps on Tuesday! Yeah! But, she has been faking me out ever since. Braeden is getting a bunch of teeth, so he's starting to look like a boy and not a baby...

I'm planning their b-day party. I can't believe how fast this year has gone by.....
