Hi girls,

Long time no speak. It's been such a strange week - gone past so quick despite being off work... I spent Monday and Tuesday feeling very down and shattered - almost like I am at the start of the summer break - think it was just a reaction of my body after the hundred miles an hour speed of the last couple of weeks... Spent most of Wednesday working - just have to finish a bit and that's it - I'll wash my hands of it all until I go back then...

Had the midwife on Wednesday. I can't believe I'm 34 weeks - Honestly, I feel like a first timer now. I had no real stretching with Sam and I'm much bigger, obviously as I'm further on... Getting quite anxious about the birth...will I cope? can I do it naturally with a 'normal' sized baby...? Will I go as quick??? OMG I'm driving myself mad...

Have had serious Braxton Hicks today as well, and my pelvis is definately playing up :( Despite my moaning (SORRRRRRYYYYYYYYYY), I actually feel great :o :D

Justine - bummer about missng the appointment - you obviously needed the sleep
 Have a nice weekend...

Tammy - not long now my friend...The time'll pass soon enough. Gald the appointment went fine and you sound like you're doing great...

Kareen - how are you my love? Hope the pain is going away a bit. The boots sound like a good idea. I love boots and have many more pairs than I need, but pulling them on in the morning - now that's a site to behold.............. Bending seems to be not an option these days... LOL

Jo - can't believe you have a chest infection now - you're not getting the breaks at the moment. You take care of yourself...hope the antibiotics have kicked in.

Vita - glad all went well - the babes sound like they're doing well. Try not to worry - you're doing a grand job and that will continue...

To everyone else - take care

Zoe x

P.S I say again - 34 weeks and I'm still here.... :D  :D LOL

Good morning ladies:

I'm so glad that the weekend is here. We are preparing for our Thanksgiving holiday next Thursday. We are off from school next Wed-Friday for the holiday and I'm looking forward to some time off. I have my family coming to our house for Thanksgiving on Thursday, so I will have some cooking and cleaning to do next week.

Zoe: Wow, 34weeks! You are in the homestretch now. I am 25 weeks today. When you say "naturally", do you mean without any drugs? I have been researching epidurals, etc. during labor. Since this is my first pregnancy, I'm trying to decide what drug would be best for me and my baby. I'm sure that I could not go the natural route entirely, since I don't deal well with pain.

Justine: You probably needed the sleep yesterday. At 32 weeks, you are in the homestretch too! I don't think that I was scheduled to receive a scan, but I asked my doctor for one. I'm so spoiled after spending 14 weeks with my RE where he scanned me every 2 weeks.

Kareen: I sure hope that you can find out the sex of your babies. Do you have any feelings about it one way or the other? I always felt that my little baby was a boy. I can't describe it, but I had strong feelings that he was a boy. I hope the arm brace helps with the carpal tunnel. How was the Chinese restaurant? I love Chinese food too. I will be going to China probably about this time next year to adopt our little girl.

Hello to everyone else. Have a wonderful weekend.

Regards,
Tammy

Hi Tammy,

LOL - By 'naturally', I really meant myself, no complications, or forceps etc. Bugger no drugs (excuse the expression!) - although saying that, Sam was so quick there was no time ans I only had gas and air, so that was ok. I'm going to try for the same this time, BUT I am definately not one of these women who feels they have to completely do it au naturel - if the pain is too much, then drugs it will be - I'm all for the least stressful time and I think if I'm less stressed then the wee man will be too...

On saying that, I'm stressing now. The nightmares are setiing in and I'm a teeth grinder anyway at night, but my mouth is aching in the morning big time  - that's how I know I'm unsettled...

Anyhoo - it's good you're off next week. Don't do too much cleaning!!!! It's the one time you've got a great excuse!! Let them all pamper you... As for pain - you know, every pregnancy is different and you might have it quick and easy. There was only one bit I remember from last time - just before it actually happens - the birth I mean - I swear I thought he was coming out the wrong bit (if you know what I mean :-o). I wasn't prepared for that. I always remember Steve saying how great I was for panting at the right time ... LOL I remember saying to him afterwards that I thought I couldn't breathe and it's the only flaming thing I could do was to pant LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The rest you really do forget.

We're now panicking a bit as my mum doesn't live near and she had a hysterectomy this week so travel'll be a no go if we need her in a hurray. Dh's mum just got a date for her hysterectomy at the start of Dec (talk about coincidence) so she'll be out also if I go quickly. My sister would take at least 4 hours to get here, friends are working, so if I go into labour on a Mon, Tues or Wednedsay, there's no-one to take Sam quickly if needed..... ! Another thing to worry about... :?

Anyway, hope you're having a good weekend...

Kareen - you're very quiet today - things ok???? No snow here yet

Hello,

Just wanted to say hi to you all. I'm here in the background. I just can't sit here and post at the moment. I feel I need gas and air already for my back pain!

Still coughing loads and feel like poo. Hopefully will feel better in a few days then I can chat to you all properly but I am reading all your posts in between my deep breathing, makes it worse as it hurts middle to low down because of the pregnancy and the top hurts when I breathe because of the chest infection - oh well at least things can't get any worse!

Thinking of you all and hope you're all having a great weekend.

Hello Ladies

OMG Jo, how do you manage. It seems to be one thing after another for you, you poor thing. I hope the chest and throat get better really soon and you can have a day or two of feeling 'better'.

Zoe, bad luck about your mum and MIL...that is a spooky coincedence! Fingers crossed that one of them is ok when you do go into labour. Does the hospital have any facilities for kids? I would have thought that there would be lots of people in the same situation. Oh, congratulations on reaching 34 weeks.

Tammy, sounds like you have a busy week coming up. Try and take it easy and enjoy thanksgiving! As far as drugs go, my hospital have told us not to get used to the idea of an epidural as there is a good chance there will not be an anaesthetist available to administer and monitor one. Of course, if it is a necessity it will not be denied. All the anaesthetists in town are in private practice and are generally only available after hours. I guess if my baby chooses to come during the day, that leaves pethedine and gas as my options! The joys of living in a rural city in a country with a severe shortage of medical professionals.

Justine, sorry that you missed your appointment...woops. You must have needed the sleep! Hope you are having fun in Derbyshire and enjoying the time with Sophie. Your boss sounds like a doll! It must be such a relief to be able to work from home instead of having to do such a long trip each day. Yay you!

Kareen, sorry to hear you are feeling a bit down. The arm braces should at least take some of the pain away. I find that my wrist is fine if it is straight but when it twists or bends the pain is horrible. I can't imagine what it would be like having carpal tunnel in both arms...yukko. I hope you managed to find some shoes and enjoyed the chinese food and catching up with your workmates.

It is quite exciting...everyone is getting so close! I don't think I will move to the 3rd tri thread until everyone else does...it is a bit quiet over there. I flunked my GCT test and had to go for the longer GTT test....which I also flunked. I now have to see a dietition and start monitoring my glucose levels. Unfortunately I can't get in to the dietition until 3 December....I am pretty sure I will have it all worked out by then! I tend to eat mostly good carbs anyway so I don't think my diet will have to change dramatically and I also exercise every day...I have a collie and a boxer that won't let me sit on my butt for too long! Other than that, everything is a-ok! I am off to Brisbane on Thursday to see Cirque de Soleil and to catch up on my shopping...yay. I need to buy stuff for hospital as I would hate to have to send DH out to get things if I go in early....heaven knows what I might end up with!

Hope you all have a great week.

Cheers
Heather

Good morning ladies:

Zoe: DH and I are planning on taking a childbirth preparation class early January, as I am a first timer and have a lot to learn. I am confused on the different drug options and have been getting different advise. Some say that the epidural is risky and could cause paralysis. I just want a drug with little to no side effects that will do the trick. I DO NOT DEAL WELL WITH PAIN!

Jo: I hope that you are feeling a little better now.

Heather: Sorry to hear about your GCT test. I have mine on Dec. 14th, during my next appt. I need to do some more research on the different drug options. I am very confused. I do not want to do anything that would potentially harm my baby or myself.

Justine: Glad to hear that you had a nice time with Sophie over the weekend.

Kareen: I hope that your cold goes away soon. DH took me out Saturday night for seafood and it was great. We have not been out for seafood for awhile.

Take care all,
Tammy

Hi Girls!

Jo - Hope you are feeling a bit better soon and the coughing has stopped a bit... and the back pain is easing up... :(

Heather - Don't know about the hospital facilities - I'm sure we'll sort something out one way or another - we'll have to!! Hope the trip is good - the thought of going out sometimes at the moment is too much for me - never mind travelling. I'm not complaining - don't get me wrong, but I never felt big with Sam, or tight, or heavy... boy i't different being that week and a half further on... Hope all goes well for you at the dietician and good luck with the shopping - you'd have thought I'd have learned my lesson last time as I had no bag at all, but still have not got one completely yet... mind you, at least I have the basics - but no baby stuff at all. LOL

Justine - Glad your weekend was good, but what a nightmare feeling so ill. Hope you're feeling better now. I think all the winter bugs are starting to do the rounds - We've all been fighting the cold for over a week now, but it's finally hit Sam and I feel grotty today - but that could just be pregnancy! I just wish sam would learn to blow his nose and not sniff all the gunk up!!! I'm with you and thinking about a water birth, partly because of the SPD, but we'll have to see what's available. I feel so big and am really worrying about the pain now!!! I don't know about you but real sleepness nights are back because of the discomfort and my back is finally giving up and starting to give me jip - was hoping to be lucky like last time...

Kareen - you and your Chinese's, you go girl.. Hope the cold is clearing and well done for getting some Christmas presents. At last it's starting to feel Christmassy - they start the Edinburgh Christmas Festival this Thursday, so it'll be lovely - if all the flaming rain and gales stop!!

Hope everyone else is fine.

Do you think we should start a 'Last few weeks thread'??? A lot of us haven't taken the last jump to 3rd trimester and there are 101 pages to this thread

Take care all

Hello ladies,

Yet again a week has passed :( I have officially been labeled as having gestational diabetes...my glucose levels were apparently really really high.
I saw a dietician yesterday and she scheduled out what i will eat from here on out :x this sucks because i didnt have much of an appetite to begin with, all the babes are pushing up on my stomach and cant get anything really down. they have me on a 3000 calorie diet...wow isnt that aloooooooooot of food?????? i should be excited but im not considering i cant eat anything without feeling so sick afterwards. Anyways its been crazy, this strict bed rest issue is so difficult and oh so boring. i cheat once a week and come here and update whats happening. my doctor thinks i will be hospitalized after next weeek. considering im already having mild contractions and have had a shot of terbutaline last week and medication to control contractions every 6 hours. he says my cervix is shortening but that i need to keep these kids in for another 6 weeks at least. its all so scary.. do you ladies know whats a good cervical length? last week i was measured at 2.5cm and was wondering how bad that is at 26 weeks. Ok i must go off to bed again i can feel the bearing down sensation again.. i miss you ladies terribly and hope and pray you all are doing really well.

xoxo,
vita

Hi girls -

Kareen - YES, MUMMY - I'll do it... don't know when, but I will. I have a couple of things so that's a start. LOL. Braxton Hicks... they're something else eh?? I'm getting them more and more these days and am getting excited (just not about labour...) Good to hear you're getting bigger...and bigger....and bigger     Maybe the baby will come out speaking Chinese    LOL. I've avoided many Chinese meals from the carry out, but boy, when you talk about it... Check list for after will be...glass of wine... dye my hair... eat chinese... eat brie... sleep on my tummy again... (can't wait for that one, although I use the word sleep loosely with a new baby...), oh, it's endless... Sorry you're not sleeping - get used to it girl

Vita - you'll probably not be on for a while again, but take it eas. I'm with Kareen - although being in hospitalis not what you probably want, at least they'll keep a close eye on you, and if you do go early, there no rush to get there - I know I felt lucky being in hospital the day Sam arrived early.
Take it easy anyway.

Jo, Justine, Tammy and everyone else - hope those bumps are doing great...

Take care all
