Hiya!

Only got a few mins but re: hiccups - the midwife at hospital said best way was to feed for a few mins - seems to work with Charlie BUT I don;t like doing it if he's not due for a feed cause guzzler just thinks it's breakfast/tea/lunchtime!!!! I also have a problem burping him. We've got the Dentinox colic liquid which we give him once a day. I don't think he's got colic (if he had you can give it up to 6 times a day?!) but it really helps - he burps loudly without too much effort and seems to settle afterwards.

Talking of food - he's had hardly anything today? And yet a few days ago he couldn't get enough. I presume it was a growth spurt but I get so confused!!! Is he poorly or just not hungry? Does the worrying stop?!

Hi All

First post on this thread, how very surreal it all is!! Things are going very well for us at home, she is a clockwork angel and things really have come right since we left hospital. Sun has finally come out and took our wee cherub on first trip out in her state of the art buggy along the waterfront.

will post longer later and catch up on what you guys are upto. Hope everyones recovery is going well though.

In meantime cant for life of me remember how to set up a new ticker!! Anyone help? My current ticker would indicate that I have a rather overcooked bun in the oven and not a wee darling swinging in her little baby hammock!!

Kirsti, wow you seem incredibly sorted! Mind you its quick how you learn, only a few days ago I was in tears with pillows galore behind my back and on my lap, books under my feet and wrestling with Maia trying to get mealtimes sorted, wishing I had 3 extra hands (and that she had none so she couldn't keep wrestling!!) and this morning I realised that I was feeding her with one hand and emailing photos home to the UK with the other

Thanks Charlie and Richard for starting this thread!! I'm so glad that so many of you are posting here

I'm so jealous of all of you breastfeeding mums... it never worked out for me and Hendricks

With my tramatic labor (placenta abruption, toxemia, hellp syndrome and several days in intensive care

) my milk just never came in until 3.5 weeks after he was born. By that time, we had both just become exhausted with endless hours of breastfeeding(with him not getting enough), bottle supplementing, me pumping to stimulate more production, etc... so we had switched to formula. The docs said it was not uncommon for that to happen, especially since I was in kidney failure for over a week. Anyway, count your blessings for those of you that it is working for. But... on the bright side... at least DH can take some of those night time feedings

I'm loving being a mom!!!! It took a couple weeks to sink in... mostly because I think I was so out of it in the hospital. It is so fun to take him out and have people gush over him. I love dressing him up in all the cute clothes he has... although I must admit that I'm jealous of his closet FULL of new clothes. My favorite thing is his smile and when he giggles. He is starting to respond to me and DH and it just melts my heart when you get a true laugh as he reacts to us.

It is so wonderful to see pictures of everyone's babes! ALL are BEAUTIFUL! I'm going to put a new picture on photobucket soon. It is amazing how quickly they change.

Hi all

Charlie is asleep in my arms so forgive my bad typing!!! Just wanted to check in. I've just watched the bbc documentary I taped on ivf. This week it was PGD they covered. tomorrow its apparently frozen embryos. Charlie was in my arms as I watched it and I cried my eyes out. Made me remember (not that I had forgotten) just how lucky we are and how truly amazing this whole journey has been. I just want to hug Charli 24/7 and tell him how special he is. I hope he understands!

Sorry - Forgive me - am feeling a bit emotional now! Must be the hormones!

hiya girls
tis richard here
things here are so hectic
poor little guys got very very bad trapped wind
he cant even sleep in peace, he is always crying when he is awake and when he sleeps he is raising his legs and screaming out in pain its so upseting to know hes in that much pain
we are tryin various diffetrent medicenes to help him but nothing really making much difference

also he has got an eye infection and the health visitor said to go to doctors and get some antibiotic cream
and guess wot the doc told charlie to do PUT BREAST MILK IN HIS EYE

can you believe it????????/
anyway gotta go for now babys crying again

Hi Richard - I have heard of the breast milk in eye remedy before - even for adults it's supposed to be good for treating things like conjunctivitis and stuff. Hope the little guy picks up soon - it must be so hard to see him need you so much.

Still no birth for me.....my belly is Club Med and she aint coming out. Might try accupuncture today or tomorrow. I hope I have her before December rolls around otherwise I wont even qualify for the thread!

bella im also sure that even if you have your baby in dec u will still be welcome on this thread you will always be an oct/nov girl to us
we are taking kieran out on sunday to meet his 1st little freind we met a couple on our anti natal course they had a little girl and we are meeting up sunday for lunch will be his 1st buddy gosh soon he will be leaving home

Hi guys - hows it going?

Charlie/Richard - little lun also has problems with trapped wind. We've been giving him Dentinox colic drops which hes not that keen on at the time, but boy has it worked. Within a fwe days he was a different baby. We don't give him the full 6 doses a day - usually just 2 but that seems tp be all it takes. Hope you find something that worked - hows he been??

Nothing new here. Charlies smile is getting bigger and his gurgles even louder - so cute!!!!!!!

Hi Moms! I am officially on this side! What a joy this little guys are..ok...sometimes we have our moments..but I just love Isabella to death. We have already been outside in the woods going for walks...

I am still working on getting the milk production going...it is getting better but not enough to keep Ms.Isabella happy..so we are supplementing with bottles. Off to pick up the house before feeding time.

Hope everyone is getting enough rest (ha!)!

Hey everyone! We're doing good here. Cla & Charlie & Richard, seems like my babies have trapped wind too...although they let it out constantly...but sometimes seem to stuggle. I will ask the doctor about that this afternoon and maybe get some medicine like you mentioned, Cla. They just made it through a growth spurt at 6-7 weeks when they were eating a lot. Now they are breastfeeding only, with alittle bit of supplemental formula here and there. I can't wait to find out how much they weigh today at the doctor.

Does anyone's babies have the baby acne? One of my boys does really bad. In fact, I'm wondering if it's an allergic reaction instead. Will also ask the doctor that today.

Hi all
Sorry I haven't posted for a while... Am enjoying being a Mummy tooooo much and don't seem to find time to do much else.

Charlie and Richard, sorry to hear Kieran has tummy ache.
I too am suffering, or should I say Bradley is suffering. It seems with him it is only during his feeds. He is having 5oz every 3/4 hours but every time he has drunk 2/3oz he is screaming in agony. Then he's screaming because he's hungry but can't take it. My hv said it is colic. Unfortunately burping him doesn't help as he needs to "pop off", which he isn't much (unlike his sister, who we have nicknamed "Whoopee") It's like I am feeding him acid!!! He deosn't spit up or anything after but it takes about an hour to feed him 5oz.
A couple of my friends who have young babies have advised me to go to a Cranial Osteopath which I have booked for this Thursday. Both have said it worked wonders and its a must for any baby with colic.
I shall let you know how I get on.

Kristi, I forgot to mention, Bradley has spots too. All around his mouth and chin. They are little raised red spots, simular to a pimple. I have GOOGLED this and apparently Baby Acne is very common so nothing to worry about.

Hope you are well and enjoying Mommyhood as much as me.

Hi All -

Add Hendricks to the list of babies with "trapped wind." (I like the sound of that better then saying he is gassy

) He can go from peaceful to SCREAMING in about 1 second. I feel horrible seeing him so uncomfortable. As soon as he lets a few toots go, he is right back to sleep or being calm. It has helped to burp him more often. And, we make sure he gets plenty of floor time where he can kick and wiggle and play. It helps when he is on his back and we bicycle his legs too.

And yes, he has a little acne too. We wash his face a couple times a day with a warm wet washcloth (no soap) and this has helped.

I am so impressed with you moms who make it out of the house on a frequent basis. It is too cold to walk outside for us, so trips out involve heading out to the mall. He is not a big fan of the car seat so if he is awake while in it, he cries the whole time.

We are totally looking forward to our "Baby's first Christmas"!! Can't wait to lay him under the tree and watch him gaze up at the lights.

Anyone's babes sleeping through the night? He eats at 10pm, 2am, and 6am so that's not bad at all. We are hoping that the 2am feeding goes away soon, but are not trying to force or schedule it away.

How fabulous would it be if we were all able to get together some day for one huge play date? Probably not possible, but it would sure be fun
