Shantala, to add to the list, copy the list and paste it to your post, then make the modifications and when you are done, select the text and change the colour and font size......
Let me know if it works, I didn't change it for you because I wasn't sure if you wanted to add the consultant visit or to replace the other appt for this.........

Hi ladies,

I'm completely new at this forum and with the whole IVF thing.... Very lost. I'd love to join this group, as AF should be here late Jan/early Feb and that's when I'll have my baseline sono and start the pill. I have no dates as of yet - might be that this post-clomid cycle is not the normal length.

My signature pretty much sums up our ttc history... Got pregnant once (halfheartedly ttc and got a happy surprise) but miscarried on week 13. After that I had to have several operations and now worry that I might have some scarring. My RE is really good though. Also, I'll never have a completely normal uterus as to its shape, but after a recent HSG was told by my RE that it shouldn't stop me from getting pregnant. We tried IUI with clomid three times, no results. DH also has some problems with SA so decided to go the IVF route and had a consultation last week.

Anyhow, now eagerly waiting for my IVF to start as I'm sure you all are. Having pre-IVF bloodtests tomorrow and taking it from there. For once I cannot wait for AF to come!

Now I just have to learn all the lingo here...

Question: What exactly does the "trial transfer" entail? During the IVF consultation there were so many things to ask and consider that I failed to ask this. It seems that these trial transfers are not performed in many countries at all. Why is it done and is it a big deal?

hey ladies

nicky - haha...finally, i know who you are!! woohoo, you wont be far behind me at all!! thats great. oh, i bet you're very excited about your app on the 16th. its so nice when you finally get a plan.

yes, i went to the open evening which was a very general meeting with the licence holder, a senior embryologist, a senior nurse and about 24 othre couples. i found out that evening that they could squeeze me in to have my trial transfer with this AF (i'm currently on day 7 and have to have this on day 11) so i'm ready to start meds with my next AF. otherwise i wouldnt have been able to start till AF in april! so thats good.

yes, i'm in caversham and the royal berks dont do ivf. its a bit of a bummer as it would have been much easier and convenient for me but having said that the royal berks has really gone down hill so maybe its for the best!!

welcome rae76!!!! it's great that you've joined this thread as i'm sure you'll find it really useful to chat with other ladies who are going through the same thing around the same time!! looks like you'va had quite a history and so sorry to hear about your m/c (miscarriage). ok, trial transfer is where the clinic pretends that they are putting embryos back in just to make sure that everything is clear ready for the real thing. from what i can gather its not a big thing at all...its just like a smear (they insert a catheter in which the embryo would be). where abouts are you?? does your clinic do the trial transfer?? the best of luck with your pre-bloods tomorrow.

hey ladies

nicky - i know its a real shame about the royal berks. but the horror stories that i've heard (and experienced!!) is just unbelievable. i keep saying to my dh that if we're lucky enough to get that BFP one day i really dont want to deliver there!

anyway,

i'm trying not to get too excited but... i asked my clinic whether it is possible that if my scan and trial transfer goes ok on tuesday (day 11 of my cycle) whether i can then start downregging with day 21 of the same cycle. originally they said no and then said i would have to check with the nurse manager...well i called them on wednesday and they said they would call me back and they didnt so i just assumed its not possible. however, they called me back today and said it might be possible. they said i could find out when i meet with the consultant (on the 30th jan). i said that i'm doubtful as i would have to start downregging 3 days later (on the 3rd feb) and i guess i wouldnt get the meds in time but she said if they can fit me in then i should be able to buy the nasal spray off them to last me until i get my meds. but it all depends on whether or not they can fit me in.

so......i'm trying not to get too excited but i'm hopeful!! i'm preparing myself for march but if its feb after all then great.

Shantala & Nicky, thanks for the warm welcome!

Shantala, thank you so much for clarifying the trial transfer for a rookie like myself  Doesn't sound too bad at all. I'm in Dallas and my clinic will be doing a trial transfer.

You are living really exciting times - might actually be starting so soon! that's great, I have my fingers crossed. And if not, we'll go at it together in March.

Nicky, know exactly what you're saying about the limbo... just want to get started. I don't know how you feel but for me the step from IUI to IVF seemed like a huuuuuge one, both emotionally and financially (our insurance should cover the meds but the rest is on us). Can't help feeling a little bit unsettled. But I'm sure this is where we can help each other.

Just off to have that bloodwork done, hope you ladies have a great day!
