katew~Thanks for the excitement! That's how we feel. I'm not sure if I already read or not but how are you doing? Where are you at in your cycle? Hopefully, things are going really well for you.

I just got back from a BBQ at a friends house and the topic turned to our IVF at the end. Both the men and women were saying how they really admire the hard work and dedication we put into our dream. It made me feel so good to hear people understand what an effort we all make. They just blew me away. Tonight really made me glad others know and trust me, there are days when I wish we were the only ones to know. They were talking about us all and the courage and determination it takes.

Thought I'd share that since we all are brave, courageous, loving, determined, and passionate women all wanting to be mommies.

Have a great night~

Same question

Post by Jane37 »

I have just spoken to a good friend about the same topic.
I, too am a very private person and don't want to broadcast the fact that we are doing IVF but at the same time I feel that I need some support amongst my immediate friends as I live in another country to my family and close friends. I guess you should just talk to people that you really trust but I'm having a hard time doing that because once I've done that I feel 'exposed'. One friend from my home country that I have talked to always wants to know the latest, she cares I know, but at the same time there are some times when you just want to talk about other things! My folks were great. I won't tell them all the details but at least they'll be there for me whatever the outcome.
I guess it's a very personal thing but at least there are a lot of people here who know what you are going through and can help support you.
Kholta - congratulations :D
Hrobinson - I can't believe your sister told everyone on her Christmas letter, so sorry.
Good luck to you all,
Jane

After mentioning my IVF I got to know about people who have had m/c several times, problems with getting pregnant, dead births, etc - all those people have several children now. It really is a supporting system, but... if the problem were in dh, I wouldn't talk about it I guess. Talking about your own disabilities is something else than talking about your partner.

katt
I too talk to everyone about it, i think it is so common now that there is no need to hide it or be embarrassed about it, i found i get some really good advise but each to there own. I have met so many people that have gone through it both positive and neg stories but i find this keeps me going.
Both our families know my DH is a very private person and doesn't want anyone to know but i found not talking about it made me depressed he now understands that i have to get things off my mind and it can not be to him all the time.
Just before i started my cycle i had a big fall out with my best friend (she really felt like a sister) and i really miss not being able to talk to her as she knew the whole story and what we had been through without having to say anything. I just hope not having her support doesn't hinder the way i go through my cycle.
Everyone is different and i suppose its what ever gets us through that is the right way.
Goodluck everyone.

I have only told one very close friend. I told her because we tend to pray together for many different types of things. She had told no one, and she is a mighty prayer warrior. She maintains a very positive attitude. We have not even told our families, b/c everyone is such a big mouth and busy body. If we get a BFP this time, we do not intend to ever tell our families how we got pregnant. For us, it is just a very personal situation, and we didn't want people asking questions about it, especially since this is our third cycle. I think it's neat though for those of you who have supportive families that lend support without being busy bodies!

hi Mama - we are on the same cycle too - I'm due for EC on the 26th with ET on the 28th.

Have you started with yr stimming drugs yet?

had my first scan today and the downregging obviously has gone well and start stimming tomorrow night.

Going back to the topic of this thread - as we move on with this cycle my DH and I have made a decision to keep progress fairly quiet - my friends are pretty good and wait for me to update rather than them asking questions. My mum is the same too but unfort MIL isn't so this time round we haven't told her, its only because she worries about us too much!

I am so excited I am finding people with the same cycle as me! I think I have started my stimming, Im taking Lupron ?? I am still unsure of all this, but I am doing Lupron shots and this Friday 3/16 I go to meet with the embryologists and have an ultrasound, my EC is for sure on the 26th they said the transfer date can change depending on lab work and ultrasounds but right now is scheduled for the 29th !! Im still not sure what down regging is but I did go on the 5th for an ultrasound which was a "trial transfer" and they said everything looked good? and thats when I started Lupron, How are you feeling ? My emotions have been a little out of whack these past couple days , but Im so excited for the end result, it finally feels so close to me, we have been waiting to do this since last October so im ready! Thanks for your help best wishes to you!

prayingforamiracle~
I understand your poing of view for sure. Although, it's not the route we ended up on I can clearly see the benefits to it. For us I think any route in the end will be fine as long as there is a healthy baby, or in our case 2, in the end. In this crazy and challenging world of IVF, at least some choices are up to only us!

I hear ya, kholtan. Now that I think about it, I probably made the choice that I did to keep it ourselves, as a way of keeping some sort of control. Does that make me a control freak? :D Good luck and congrats on your twins! Your outcome inspires me that this CAN truly work. I'll find out whether our third try worked tomorrow.
