Well all...just wanted to provide an update. It's been six days since Day 3 transfer. Currently in the process of 2ww.....personally, it's been tough. Just to add, my wife took an hpt this morning which I thought was too early. As she may have expected, it came out negative.......damn!

I have to be honest that at this very moment I'm feeling quite pessimistic, discouraged, sad, frustrated and very angry. First discouraging factor was when we found out only 2 out of the 9 eggs retrieved fertilized. Second discouraging factor was the fact that 1 of the 2 embies transferred remained at 2 cells on Day 3 transfer and had a slight chance of continued development. Leaving us with only one embryo (7 cells) to be the only likely candidate to progress.

I know it's still a bit early, but the current odds are now stacked up against us, I feel. Both my wife and I checked out well in preliminary test prior to IVF process. It's unfortunate.....we had high expectation sand hopes only to find out to experience the opposite taking place. Of course, many others have experienced, but emotions really run high and hit home when you're actually in the helm of it all.

Anyhow, I know it's a bit early to determine final results. May 13th is BETA test day.....We'll find out then what the result will be........

Don: I know you have heard this before, and it is hard, but you have to remain positive...as someone said on one of my previous threads "you are pregnant until proven otherwise"!!

It can be very misleading to take an HPT so early after transfer...I know it is hard, but try to wait your full 2weeks before taking another. Some pregnancies are not detected on the HPT's, but the blood work will pick it up! I took an HPT about 4 days before my 2 weeks were up and the test came back negative.....and I am pregnant with twins!! So don't give up hope!!!!!

I wouldn't let the hpt get you down. It sounds way too early for that. The little ones would barely have had time to implant and wouldn't even have had time to start churning out a detectable amount of HCG at this point.

As far as the odds being stacked against you, weren't they for all of us? Even in the cycles where we got pregnant it was probably against the odds. Even those fertile folks who don't need IVF get pregnant against the odds - I believe it's about a 25% chance per month even if you have no issues and are trying naturally.

For me, it always helped to stay one step ahead of the game, though. Even before one cycle ended I was planning my next move in case I didn't succeed. So I can understand how you feel discouraged. If this isn't the cycle for you that doesn't mean it won't happen.

Just wondering, what clinic are you using if I may ask?

Thanks for your inputs and shared perspectives. I had a bad day yesterday and really needed to vent a little.....unusual, but figured expressing my feelings in this forum would be a somewhat healthy thing to do.

Glad I did, because I actually got some unexpected feedback.

Well, the mere fact is I need to accept things are beyond my control at this point and regardless of what the results are next week, life will go on. Again, May 13 is the date and moment of truth. Certainly am hoping for the best but anticipate other wise.

Mellie_1233, you asked what clinic we're with.......We're currently with San Diego Fertility Center. Both, Dr. Kettel and Dr. Hummel were voted Americas best doctors in their specialty in 2006. Not sure where they stand now.

It's probably too early to think about, but I'll just throw this out there.

If your problem is with egg quality/quantity, then the skills of the lab where the embryos are cared for is crucial. That was my problem. That's why we switched out of state to the Colorado Center for Reproductive Medicine (CCRM) in Englewood, CO. (They're actually in Lone Tree, CO, now.) When you don't have a lot of good eggs to work with it's so important that the clinic where you go has a top-notch lab.

Forgive me if you're already aware of this, but I'll give you a link to the CDC stats for labs across the country. I see your lab in there. Take a look at CCRM in CO. They are almost double the national average:

Like I said before, for me it always gave me comfort to have the next step planned in case things didn't go well. And, just in case you don't get the results you want I thought it might be good for you to know that there are other options. If thinking about this stuff is stressful right now please just ignore my ramblings

All this said, I am hopeful for you! Please know that all of the above is "just in case". Good luck on the 13th! Try not to worry! There are still lots of options and a good chance that you will get the news you want on the 13th!

Don, like the others have said it is too early. If you are getting your results on the 13th, I would start testing on the 11th. We started testing a couple of days before the official date and got a very very faint line. The next day we tested again and it was darker and I knew it would be a positive from the doctor. We also tested the morning of the results and it was a dark line.

DO NOT TEST AGAIN UNTIL SUNDAY...Then test on Monday. If you test before then you are just killing yourself mentally and wasting those strips.

Let us know the outcome.

I agree you are testing way way to early.. I tested 3 days before blood test was due, and got a light line then every day after that. But when I went for blood test they called me and told me to stop all meds that i was not pregnant. We were crushed. A few days later still no af so took 1 more test and still + so went to family doctor, well i am 34 weeks now. So wait to test cause it will drive you nuts. How are the progestrone shots coming along?

Thanks very much for your feedback and information you provided. I highly appreciate it very much.

I do have an update I'd like to share. This past Friday (5/9), my wife started spotting. It was a brownish color initially. Then later that day when she urinated, noticed a clear jelly looking substance with some blood clots floating in the toilet. We're not sure what it was, but we hope it's not worse case scenario. Wife is still spotting mostly brownish and a little reddish/pink one time yesterday. I'd like to think this is implantation bleeding. Although, concerned about what was floating in the toilet on Friday. Is this something to be concerned about? Possible miscarriage maybe or is this something else?

In addition, she did take home pregnacy test (First Response Kit) this morning. Supposedly, one line is negative...two lines is a positive result. Well, I saw 2 lines in the window in which one line was lighter than the other. After reading "First Response" doc instructions, this would indicate a positive. But we're still cautious and not getting hopes too high just yet....again, considering what took place this past Friday. I heard you can still get a positive result after a miscarraige. I hope and pray to God this isn't the case.

My wife will be heading into the office tomorrow morning for blood draw. It will be the moment of truth and I'm just hoping for the best.

Not sure what could have been in toliet but about 1 week after my et i spotted a good bit for about 3 days thought it was af. Not sure if it was implantation bleeding or as my dh said we only had 1 stick so the other one had to have gone somewhere. But anyway as posted before i am 34 weeks pregnant, so it doesn't mean bad news. Try to stay positive (I know how hard it is) Good luck tomorrow! Let us know...

Been meaning to touch base with you. In your previous post, you mentioned that you took a blood test and were told to stop all meds....Although, you were still acutally pregnant? Please clarify...if so, this begs the question: Just how reliable are these blood test? Or, could it be the clinics mis-diagnosing? Scary stuff!!

Anyhow, I'm very happy to hear that you'll be due to deliver in a few weeks...simply awesome. We're hope and pray that we'll be in the same boat moving forward. My dear wife just had her blood drawn at 8am (PST) this morning. Probably, expect to hear about results in early afternoon. I'm a nervous wreck!!!

Have been checking all morning to see if you have posted yet... Yes my fertility doctor did my blood test and called me that afternoon and told me to stop all meds, that i was not pregnant. After 3 days and still no af and 2 more +hpt's i went to my family doctor. They did hpt and said you are pregnant, and i asked for a second blood test (to be sure) the next day they called me and i was in fact pregnant. Called back to fertility doctor and told them what had happen and after speaking to several people, we went in for 6 weeks ultrasound. We asked how that happen and they said could have maybe been late implantation, but i was only the 2nd person that has happen to in 6 or 7 years. I know that mistakes happen but that is pretty scary stuff!!! Anyway, i wish you the best of luck today and in the furture. I will be checking back to see what your results are.

Results were announced to wife and I. Not so good news.....test came out positive but I think the nurse said that hcg levels were low...not sure if that's correct or not. Numbers were given: They expected 100 at this point but right now we're only at 11...again not sure what these numbers mean. Nurse ordered my wife to return to the office Thursday for another blood draw. This will be the final determinant.

Scenarios are: There's something wrong with the pregnancy or late implantation.

Very very disappointed right now......need to take a walk or something.

CONGRATS!!!!! Stay positive!!!! Not sure about all those hcg levels, but have read many many posts on here where numbers were really low and they turned out fine!! I will check back thursday...

dnapasin - sorry to crash your thread but I read it and felt like I could share my story. First, congratulations! A positive is a positive! I was in beta hell myself and just wanted you to know that even with an 11, things CAN work out. I did a 3 day transfer and here were my betas:

13 at 9dpt
23 at 11dpt
37 at 13dpt
106 at 15dpt
1182 at 19dpt

I was told after the 37 to stop meds, that it was a chemical pregnancy. I continued to take them anyway and asked for another beta. Sure enough, it finally started doubling and I am now 14 weeks pregnant with identical twins. So hang in there and PLEASE don't give up hope. I'll look forward to seeing your results on Thursday and I'll have my fingers crossed for you.
