Just found this thread and wanted you to know that I am 43. IVF is a rollercoaster, but it sounds like you have some great RE's. I do not know what IVIG is? Can someone explain it to me.
Baby dust,
Kim
The way I understand it, IVIG is from other people's blood and it is basically a type of antibody. For some people, antibody issues make it impossible for a normal embryo to successfully implant and/or stay implanted, so by using the additional IVIG support, these people can become pregnant. I'm not an expert.

How are you feeling, Kim? It great to see one of us "over 40s" pg!

I'm off to ER now!

Good luck with ER!!

IVIG is normally used for transplant patients so they dont reject the organ.. it is controversial in fertility but said to helo with immunological issues..

Hi NY.

I am so sorry to hear about your results. I was praying that all would workout for you this time around. Please do not give up your dream. It will happen.

HI Chenry: I am also doing PGD for genetic reasons. I am sure you know that Sher also does a test called CGH which your embies need to be frozen until test is complete but the pregnancy outcome is greater with good CGH results. As I had mentioned in an earlier thread. I have done so much research into whcih clinic would suit me best with my age and genetic factor. The successes that Sher has is nothing less then amazing. I know with my faith in God to give me a healthy child and my faith in the amazing doctors at Sher that our dreams will be realized.

I should be having my ER about the 23rd then have to wait the 5 days since we are indeed doing PGD.

I am hoping that this cramping going on is my body working overtime to produce perfect follies that will transfer into perfect embies and so on.

Please keep me posted on your continued results and know I am here for support if you need me.

Regards,
Elida

Back from ER and a long sleep - I was surprised to find out they got 10 eggs.....they didn't say what the quality was, but in all my scans leading up to ER, they only saw 3-4 good follies on each side, so I was expecting more like 6-8, so 10 was a big surprise, but as we all know, it's quality not quantity, so I'm keeping everything crossed that these are good ones.

Unfortunately, the quality of DH's sample was not too great. He had just had a test about a month before and it was fine, but the count was too low this time so they converted us immediately to ICSI just in case. So, hope that's okay too, we'll see.

Elida - when did you start stims? I see you're doing PGD - that's very exciting, hope it goes well!

isnt that long sleep after egg retrieval sooo nice!! :)

10 thats great!!! icongratulations...

posted on your other question re sperm count but did you abstain long enough? Anyway it seems to me the worst part about icsi is added cost..

I wouldnt worry they choose the best sperm for ICSI...

HI ladies:

Suzhan, congrats on those follies now lets get those perfect lil embies. Icsi is a great method, I am also having that done along with assisted hatching. My RE is not leaving any stone unturned with my protocol. I have been on Gonal for 4 days now. 750 units, I know it is allot but with the age factor it needs to be aggressive.

I swear I feel things going on inside me, almost as if I can feel them growing. One thing about me is when I was pregnant 18 yrs ago I had such a relaxing pregnancy no symptoms at all that I did not even know I was pregnant until I was almost 3 months since I never had a normal cycle. Then almost 3 weeks late. I went into the hospital, they gave me potocin I fell asleep 2 hrs later I woke up with his head crowing and I swear I think I pushed 2 times and gave natural birth to a 10lb 13 oz baby boy, {I had Gestational Diabetes whcih now I am completely insulin dependant} who is now 18yrs old, 6'4 and in college. he is my youngest.

I had my tubes tied after him because I learned I have a very rare genetic disorder, that my oldest son has and my daughter carries. This disorder causes heart attacks kidney failure and strokes and a short life.

4 yrs ago the FDA approved a synthetic form of his missing enzyme that is infused 2 times a month at the cost of 32K a month. Thank God for insurance with no cap.

I have since been remarried and we want to start a family together and without PGD this would never be happening since I could not take a chance of bringing another child into this world knowing he would have to have treatment for the rest of his life or suffer and die a young man or continue the family cycle if it was a girl carrier.

If you would like to read about Fabrys Disease please go to www.Fabrys.org it is amazing how just having a simple mutation can change the life of your baby forever.

Anyway, I will keep everyone posted and please do the same.

Elida:
I am sure you have a very long story to tell....I can't imagine how you found all of that out. I am just glad you and your children are okay. I am sure it was such a scary time for all of you. Glad that someone came up with a drug to help.
Baby dust on this cycle for you.

Suzhan: ICSI will work just fine. Sounds like you got lots of nice eggs.
When will you get your fert. report?

Hi All,
Just got news that 2 d5 embies (I presume they are blasts) passed PGD and they are going to transfer them today. I asked about the quality and he said that they are "okay".. not the best but definitely worth transferring. I'll take that! I know that 1 of my previous MC would not have been caught in the PGD screening so I am entering this with a hopeful yet realistic mindset.

Elida,
I had never heard of CGH until I saw you mention it in another post. That is really good to now and antother valuable topic well worth learning about. Good Luck with your IVF cycle. I pray for all of you. Also, I was very uncomfortable by the end of stimming... I felt like my ovaries were going to explode but I guess it's fine if they are full of eggs!

NY4thtry: Let us know how your consult at Sher works out. It sounds very hopeful for you because you produce so many good quality eggs. Wouldn't Cornell have tested for immune issues and anything else that may be stopping you from getting pregnant? Stay strong!

Wow, Elida - what a story. It's amazing they've now found a treatment for your oldest and that you can now test for it! I wish you all the best. 750 is a lot, but hopefully that will bring you plenty of eggs so you can move ahead.

Chenry - two d5 blasts that passed pgd is a fantastic result and they're coming home to you today, even better! You're now PUPO (pregnant until proven otherwise)! Do you need to do bed rest? My clinic is strict about it - - 2 full days, ugh.

As for me, I'm waiting to get my fert report sometime this morning. I hardly slept last night, had massive insomnia for some reason, plus was bloated to all get out and so uncomfortable. I actually gained 7 pounds yesterday   As of this morning, I've lost a few from peeing every hour (finally - I wasn't peeing much yesterday) so now I'm only up 4 pounds....I know I need to keep drinking more water, which is what I'm off to do now.

Take care e1....bbl with the fert report.

Got my fertilization report....of 10 eggs, 8 were mature and all were 'icsi'ed' and 5 have been confirmed fertilized. So, now we wait to decide whether to do a 3 day or 5 day transfer....we'll know more in a couple of days. If we only have 3-4 good looking embies on day 3, they said they'll do the transfer then with up to 4 embies, but if 4-5 all look good, they'll probably wait to see which are 'best' and transfer two-three blasts....

Oh, the waiting!
