I was hoping I could join you ladies...

I am just starting the adoption process. We are using an agency in IL and we live in PA. We sent our contract and money this week and will be doing our profile now. We have our first adoption class for our homestudy on May 21. Everything is moving along nicely. We are doing a newborn domestic adoption. No gender preference and asking for Caucasian or Biracial. We are super excited, but I am not a patient person so I think the waiting will be hard for me! THis is all so new to me, its hard after the IVF world, I am not used to not having control, not that I had much with IVF either, but I knew what was going on every minute, now I just have to WAIT! It sounds like adoption can be a lot different around the world. Anyway, I'm glad to join this group. Congrats Mally....I hope you get to bring home your baby girl soon!

Neffi - You should look into Yahoo groups dealing with domestic adoption. I'm sure there are several. I don't know how I would have made it through either of my adoptions without them, and have met some lifelong friends. I was part of a Russia group and Kyrgyzstan group. I still see several families every year.

babyluv-- do you remember the forum you used? I can't seem to find one that is user friendly like this one. They all seem like threads that start and finish the same day. Anyway, I hope this process goes smoothly for us. I am excited for the adoption class next friday. We are so ready for this, I just can't wait to have another baby. Jack is growing up so fast and I already miss the baby stage, even though he is so much fun right now. And I do like sleeping!

Hmmm...try this one. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Adoption_a_gift_of_love/ I haven't used it, but it looks about right. Basically go to Yahoo Groups, and then search "US domestic adoption" and see where that leads you. Some forums will be better than others. Be prepared for high emotions...one group I was in was amazing, we all kept pretty level headed. Another was full of people flaming each other. Just a warning! Just like this journey, adoption is a very emotional one, but so very, very worth it!

Sara30, It is a long journey almost like what we have had to go through with treatments. I have still not had the baby yet. The queue is very long, and I guess, social services hardly have cases of abandoned children these days in Africa. It is a good development though. I have my fingers crossed Sara.

You have to be 21 to adopt or foster, although in some children's homes you just have to be older than 18 if the oldest child in the children's home is younger than 18. Alot of homes will take on people as long as you are CRB checked and have no offences. I think if you want to adopt or foster then work with children first to see if it is for you

Hey ladies---

So we are not done our homestudy yet, but a birth mother picked our profile and I talked to her today and it went really well. She is only 6 1/2 weeks but she made up her mind to place for adoption and we really hit it off. I have a good feeling about this. The baby is due Jan.30 and she said once she has her appt with the OB at 10 weeks then she will make a "set in stone" decision on a couple. I hope this works out. It went so fast....our profile has only been available one week and I think this is the first birth mother to receive it!

Neffi that is really wonderful news!! Good luck! Adoption is so nerve wracking, but so SO incredibly worth it! I was just talking with a friend last night (she was babysitting) about how our kids were simply ordained to be brother and sister, in addition to us all being a family. It's simply amazing to see them together.

babyluv-
i do hope this works out. It almost seems too good to be true. She is so great...not what I was expecting at all. She was actually a surrogate last year for twins for a woman in France! Then opps this happens and she said she just knew that they were finished adding to their family and that this baby was meant for someone else. I am glad she has given birth and then given the babies to someone else, but I hope she knows it will be a little different than a surrogacy. She seems very level headed, but you just never know. And her due date is so far away, so it months and months of worry for me if she picks us!

PS did one of your babies not cooperate for the u/s to find out the gender?

Neffi - Yea, that will be the hard part about he baby being due in 7-8 months rather than 1-3 which is typical. I'll be praying it all works out! It's so nerve wracking either way, now you just have MORE time to fret!

That's right, baby A was NOT cooperating, so we're still up in there air. Baby B really looks like a girl, so hopefully we can confirm both genders at my high risk appt. Should be in another 2 weeks or so.

My Dear ones, this is to let you all know that we finally got a call a day after my hubby's birthday, that they found a premature baby girl. Thus our Dear Angela arrived home onthe 25th of May, two days after the call. she was weighing 1.6kg, and Thanks to God she is now weighing 2.80kg. I totally understand what Babyluv was saying that, it is so natural, that you feel you carried him/ her in your womb. I am glad I have her and will not change it for anything in this world. I wish all those still going through the adoption process best of luck, may your heart desires be granted, and may this bring more blessings and miracles to our us. :D

Well our news is not so good. The birth mother we were matched with miscarried last night. She was carrying twins! I am devastated! I am trying to look on the bright side and know that this just wasn't meant to be and we will be matched with another birth mom soon. I would really like some things to go my way please.....
