I just got back from my apt with the High risk OB. He was the one we used before so he remembered all my medical history. Basically, he told me I am at high risk for preterm labor and rupture. He has be checking my blood sugar 4 times a day because of my PCOS and thyriod issues. He gave me a diet he wants me to follow to make sure I am getting enough calories and added DHA, Vitamin D and Calcium besides the regular prenatal vitamins. At my 13 week scan he will decide if he wants to put in a cerclage. I feel so overwhelmed and in over my head.
IVF/ICSI 3/07 Froze All 36 eggs
FET 5/07 BFP; DD born early (26 weeks) 10/07
IVF/ICSI 8/09 Froze all 30 eggs
FET 11/09 BFP! TWINS from just 1 frostie! YIKES.

me2009- I know what you mean about being overwhelmed being a first time parent. And with twins, no less! The thing that keeps me going is that since it's my first time, I won't know any different anyway! People tell me "oh, you're going to have your hands full" and I know it's true, but I won't know any different anyway since i've never had one before. Plus, i'm at the tail end of all my friends having babies and my sisters have their kids already, so it's nice to have something different where people I know haven't experienced multiples.

Don't you all just love that question "so do twins run in your family?". No one has asked me yet "are they natural?", but they've asked my husband. I think the first question is just a polite way to ask the second question. Like i'm going to tell a complete stranger about my struggles to get pregnant! I think that if someone does ask me if they are natural, my response will be "well, they're not fake!".

JG_379 - sorry to crash your thread, but I just read your post about inappropriate questions. I know of a friend of a friend who got pregnant with twins but didn't want to tell the world about her IVF. When people asked "do twins run in the family", she would just reply "they do now!".

oh i so hear you, im so SICK of hearing, ohhh you know is such hard work, you life will be over, one baby is hard, how are you gonna handle TWO!

no shit! my hubby and i life is gonna change, but THAT'S OK.

yeah i have no problem telling people we did IVF and we only been married for like 5 mos, we had been together for like 5 years and NEVER got prego! So as soon as we got married i went in to get checked out. We had some insurance for enough for one cycle and some change...

so yeah i got alot of questions, how come you dont TRY for a few months before you jump in. well NOYB... ahhhh i just dont care anymore.. :)

Mommie: Isn't it the greatest??? I think it's finally sinking in. My heartbeats were 133 and 135, each baby 10+mm. it was CRAZY!! I know the next 2 weeks are still risky, but it's so good to hear all is well...very comforting!
Congratulations!!

Hi AFM - Hopefully there is room for another member on this board. We had our first u/s last week which showed a singleton but the second u/s today showed twins. It was a wonderful surprise for us today. The hb's were 162 and 145. I dont know whats normal but hopefully that is.

It looks like some of you are further along but others may closer to my cycle. I think my original due date is 8/27 which of course will change now.

One thing I am happy about is being able to wear skirts and dresses during pregnancy. I think they will be more comfy for work than maternity pants. I live in Texas and know that there is a long spring and summer ahead for me!

I hope that we keep this board going as I believe that twin mommies will have some unique issues!

TC4474- congrats on the twins that's awesome!!! Heartsbeats doing great too me I believe ur right on target. Oh girl I feel ya on the long spring and summer my due date if it was to be a singleton was 8/28 i don't know that it will be now, anyways my point was that I'm in California the central valley where it's hotter then heck in the summer it's about 100 to 110 all the time I'm so gonna die but it will be worth it when my two little ones join the family congrats again and welcome

Just wanted to check in with all the twin mommies and a big welcome to all the new ones!

I too get the "does it run in your family?" question all the time. Before we told anyone me and DH decided to just say yes. And technically, my Grandma's Grandma had two sets, though neither set made it to live birth, I'm still counting it. I actually had the lady at Motherhood Maternity say, "does it run in your family or is it uhhh you know" and made some weird hand motion. She's lucky she caught me on a good day, but how tactless for someone especially where she works. My current annoyance is when people, mostly mothers of singletons say "oh, wow you are going to have your hands full, I dont know how your going to do it!" Makes me feel like they are doubting my ability or something! As if no one has ever survived having multiple children?! I'm going to take a pic of me tandem nursing with a big smile on my face and send it to them! haha

Mommieof2- Where at in CA are you? I'm about 1.5 hours north of Sac and I too am dreading the hot hot summer! I figure I will have my babies right about the time it starts getting hot and then stay inside under the air conditioning until October! lol

AFM- At my last OB appt. I was hoping to find out the genders but my OB said that it was too early. Though I knew this was BS, I just decided to be agreeable and wait a month. I guess once I find out it will be more accurate...though I'm not soo secretely bummed that he wouldn't look :( My parents are coming over this weekend to paint the nursery for me and even though I dont know the genders I have had a neutral color nursery planned out in my head for the last year, so it works :D Other than that, had my h1n1 shot today and second trimester bloodwork. All these needles are much easier after being an IVF pincushion for months and months.

Hope everyone is having happy and healthy pregnancies! I look forward to sharing this journey with you alll :)
