Kery, My husband has one of his tubes missing, doctor says it is probably a birth defect, but they were able to retrieve some of the sperm sample and freeze it thru testicular biopsy. Ask you doctor about it.

HI,

I am new to this forum as well. We have the IF problem due to Male factor. Low sperm count and ness than 1% mobility, sometimes none of them are motile. I went through Biopsy and had 10 vails frozen for IVF with ICSI. I quit smoking, alcohol and went of good diet for 3 months before our first IVF cycle. It is always preferred to ahve frsh sample for ICSI compared to Frozen ones andhence on the day of Egg Retreival, the fresh sample contained good motile sperms which were used and we had 11 fertilised embryos. However, the test was negative after the 2ww period. So, I do think that your diet does affect the sperm quality and numbers. I am currently on Zinc and Vitamin C supplements and drinking loads of water everyday. I am also looking at taking MACA (a peruvian herb, which is known to improve in the area of fertility as well).

Hoping the seconf IVF cycle will bring us good news.

Wishing everyone all the best.

Kerry, my DH is also azoospermic also at age 27, due to a missing vas deferns. We hope he is making sperm. We will do IVF/ICSI next month. I have fertility issues as well, as I do not ovulate but 2 or 3 times a year. I am only 26. Although he are young to have fertility issues as we do, they say age is on our side, as it should be on your side too. I wish you the best of luck!

Hi,

I'm new to this site too and I've got a low count on both quantity and quality. We've had two goes at ICSI (unfortunately, unsuccessful) so far and looking at the next in June next year.

It's the first time I've heard of drugs being prescribed to increase the sperm count, or have I totally misunderstood?! I'd be interested to know what there is out there as all I've been told is to stop smoking (which I've done) and take zinc (which I tried but that didn't help for the last 2 times so I've given it up!)

Any info you have would be much appreciated!

Cheers!

Crash.

Sand wrote:Hi Lynne ... I know df feels absolutely terrible about the whole situation. He doesn't talk about it, but I think this is because he's so upset and feels he's let me down ... I, however, see it as a joint issue, rather than anyone is to blame.

Sandra, I can sympathise with him - I have a son from a previous marriage which was a "fluke" conception considering the information I've found out afterwards.

My current wife and I have been trying for 5 years now and after 2 failed ICSIs, I see her in tears and frustrated at the prospect of never having children. In her words, ". . . no one will ever call me Mum . . ."

It's a tough one to deal with and I defy ANYONE to be on the receiving end of something like that and not feel guilty about it. I'd bet he definitely feels as though he's let you down. In fact, I'd bet there's much more than that too. A couple of my thoughts recently . . .

I feel guilty at not being able to do my born duty.
I feel guilty about getting married and "condemning" her to a childless life.
I worry about her leaving me so that she can have a child - I've even contemplated leaving her so that the decision is made for her!
I feel cheated at not being allowed to have a happy marriage and a family, rather than one or the other.
I feel like such a failure and I don't fail at anything . . . I've been very successful in my career and failure is something I haven't had to deal with until now.
I get angry when I see negligent parents and I feel guilty about my hate for them.
I didn't like talking about my feelings because I'm supposed to be the one who sorts problems out, not adds to them!!
I also feel guilty for feeling guilty!!!!

Tell your man that he's not the only one who feels like this, Sandra (and anyone else who's bloke is in the same boat). It's fairly easy to say that there's no-one to blame (and looking at it objectively, there isn't really) but it's SOOOOO much harder when YOU are the one who can't "perform" and "come up with the goods" - believe me!

Feel free to come back to me on this - I realise I've only given my side here and there's a whole lot more to it than that!

Best of luck,

Crash.
