oh really that´s good to know. I hoped it would be general but then in zita´s book it said normally sedation. I am a complete wimp so at first I thought brilliant I won´t feel a thing. But then others were saying oh no you don´t want general bla bla bla but now I know it´s common practise that´s definitely what i shall opt for. How long do the effects last?

Everyone's different Daisy ... I take it you've never had a General before ..? I am lucky that I never have any side effects - wake up quickly, no nausea or anything. Some aren't that lucky .. but either way I'd still opt for the General ('cos, you see - I'm a wimp too !).

How long does it normally take to come round? I have been under general once but that was years and years ago so I can´t remember anything about it, apart from waking up in recovery crying my eyes out coz I saw blood on my pillow!!! That´s how much of a wimp I am. Perhaps we should start a wimp thread!!

lol ! I think they start to bring you round as soon as you come out of theatre .. I remember they've called my name a few times, and they stand with you 'til you've woken up properly, to make sure you drift back off .. before taking you back to the ward.. I wouldn't like to say really how long it all takes, 'cos it's all a bit wishy washy, but not long ..

Things have moved on since the general I had when I was a young girl - I remember in those days it took ages to recover! The first EC I had I woke up when I was back in my room, but this last time I woke up in the recovery room before they'd even wheeled me back upstairs. Felt a little woozy for a short while. My clinic brings DH and myself some sandwiches and a cup of tea and I usually feel fine after that. As soon as I'm able to go to the loo without excessive pain (there's usually a wee bit of blood but nothing excessive) we are allowed to go home.

Afternoon Ladies

Hope you all had a good weekend. Have any of you started acupuncture yet? I have been reading about it and figured I will give it a go to. Do I need to see someone who specializes in IVF or fertility or will any acupuncturist do?

Daisy, I really think you are best off seeing someone who specialises in infertility. I have just started seeing a guy in London who specialises in treating women undergoing IVF. Whilst the jury is out on whether I think it will do me any good – have to say so far I have been left under-whelmed – I take the view it cannot do any harm. He is very knowledgeable about the treatment I am undergoing and aims to complement the treatment. Some practitioners of acupuncture can be ‘anti’ IVF, claiming it is against the concept of acupuncture and those are the ones you want to avoid. There was a girl on here a few weeks ago who’d seen someone who had told her IVF was not healthy etc and I don’t think that’s what we want to hear when, for some of us, a natural conception is never going to happen.

Hi Daisy - I agree with Dancola..I too started acu after our neg IVF result. She did pinpoint some severe issues I have been suffering from which she said probably has prohibited me from carrying a baby - poor blood flow, weak stomache and bad 'liver' function. We are working on these issues ..not only for IVF but for my general health. I have suffered from being always cold and going through hell every month with cramps...and the acu treatment so far is helping. For me it is not overly comfortable - I can feel the needles going in. She also does moxabustion (sp?) around my stomache and above pubic bone...this really warms me up! I love it..although I smell like marijuana afterwards.

Hi September girls!! 8) AF has come and gone and now only 3(?) more to go before starting sniffing!

Now that I know insurance will cover all expenses until we deliver our first baby...has really taken alot of pressure/stress of the entire cycle...I was getting very nervous about the expense.

Here is really looking forward to September!!

Hi all you September girls. DH is booked for sperm aspiration Sept 16th. Not sure if this means I will be cycling with you, but if so, would like to join. It's my first ICSI attempt, so will be soaking up all your advice and PMA.
Zita's book arrived two days ago (after a 6 week wait- beware Play.com). At present I am just overwhelmed by it all, but have started a healthy eating regime and feeling very smug. 3 days and still counting, though have promised myself a glass of wine this eve, so maybe not so good.

Hi Ladies

Just wanted to pop in and say hello as we will be trying again in September. I have been told we need to wait 3 "real periods" (so for me 3 packets of HRT, the bleeding now after the D&C obviously doesn't count)) and we can start on the 3rd period. I know I sound clinical about it, but I am not, just want to keep our new try separate from the other emotions right now, and it gives us a light at the end of the tunnel to look forward to.

So hello September buddies, looking foward to cycling with yu all, Tracii well there you go we will be cycling together in Germany after all! We are thinking of changing clinics (for financial reasons) so I am keeping myself busy with research into that too, and struggling here in Germany to find someone who believes in uNKC as we want to test for that before we try again. We just keep getting the answer but you "only had one m/c" it's nothing to worry about     Still good for me to have a mission, I am good when i HAVE A MISSION

Love and PMA for all of us
