Hi everyone!

I was hoping I could join the group. This is my first time IVF and I start my shots on the second day after my AF, which should be sometime next week. I am very nervous and its really great to be able to talk with other first timers! :)

Happy Thoughts!

This is GREAT! I am a first timer too. Looks like there are a few of us who can support each other. I should start the injections any day now...as soon as AF gets here. This is the first time in a looooong time that I'm looking forward to AF!

Peace,

a suggestion

Post by samandaw1 »

Try to stay calm and not stress out. When I was waiting for my AF I got it two weks late which put me a month behind. I was always very regular and can only attribute it to stress.

I know easier said then done but really try to do some relaxation stuff. I am off for my Egg retrieval tomorrow. Wish me luck!!!

Good luck with your AF, may it come soon : )

Good luck Samandaw! Keep us posted!

I got my meds today. Can you say overwhelmed? I dont know which needles go with which meds. The box is huge and it is filled with stuff. I am even a bit "scared" to go through the box. Maybe doing so will help with my anxieties. I go for BW and u/s tomorrow. And away we go........

Hello!

Laura - I totally understand what you mean by looking forward to AF! I am usually hoping and praying it doesn't come.

Samantha - Thanks for the relaxation advice, I would be sooo disappointed if my AF came late and I had to wait another month. Good luck at your egg retrieval. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Wannababy - I'm so excited that you got your box, mine is supposed to come tomorrow. You can't tell how anxious I am can you. ha ha

I hope this board of first timers are all successful. :D

Happy Thoughts!

The huge box of meds is REALLY overwhelming! We spread them out on the dining room table & took a picture for the baby book!

As for me, still waiting for AF.......

Can't wait to hear updates from you all.

Laura H- I was sooo overwhelmed when I opened my box yesterday. I felt better when I went through it and tried to make some sense of it all! Lovin the baby book idea! :D

Shapooh--Let us know when you get your box! Try not to faint when you see it! :D

2006sa-I, too, am extremely excited and nervous. I should started injections around the same time :D

Injection advice

Post by samandaw1 »

I am truely the BIGGEST whimp you can find when it comes to needles but they really are not that bad.

Icing up before hand really does help. I also did short breathes the whole time the needle was in me. Kinda like a football player just blowing out huffs and pffs. I swear by this method. THe toughest shot did not hurt as I was concentrating on the blowing out air and the sound drowned out everything. I think I might market it and become a millionaire : )

Good luck

Sam

I thought the picture for the babybook was a great/funny idea. I wish I did that as it is quite comical how big the delivery really is

Wannababy - I got my box and WOW there is so much stuff I wish I would have fainted!!! I knew I was getting the meds for the shots, but what the heck is all that other stuff. I wonder if I need some type of medical degree to understand all of this. :)

Sam - I told my Dh about the baby book idea and he laughed. Thanks for the icing suggestion, I am kinda worried about the shots. Did you have the egg retrieval yet? Can't wait to hear all about it.

My Dh just came into the room and was reading my message and he asked me what does Dh stand for? He thought it was Dam Husband.

Well wish me luck I am going to sort through my box!

Wannababy - I was feeling slightly overwhelmed when I first seen the bag, but once I went through it I felt so much better. I'm hoping to start my injections this coming week! How do people figure out when their egg retrieval day is? I already had the mock transfer and the RE said my next appt with be on day 4 of the injections.

How did the BW and u/s go? Do you know when your anticipated start date is?

At ultra sounds

Post by samandaw1 »

You will go for bloodwork and ultra sounds about every other day once all th injections start (not after luprun but in my case when I was on the three a day) They want to make sure you are stimulating and not overstimulating. They will measure your folicals and at a certain number and measurement they will decide your ET day.

Mine was after 8 days of injections (again, not including Lupren). I went three days earlier than expected becasue my body reacted well. From ET day they will give you dates on EVERYTHING (at least my office did). I have a spefic schedule on everything from now until my last ultrasound which if I am pregnant, when they tell you it is more than one.

Hope this helps

Good luck ladies. I get to hear in 1/2 hour how many fertlized eggs survived the night.

Shapooh- We should probably be doing this at about the same time! AF should come later this week. I don't know when. I guess it depends on the femtrace. I was told that AF should come 7-10 days once started. My nurse told me to have the lose dose HCG shipped by Friday the 4th just in case. I asked her when she thought the retrieval and transfer would be taking place. She pretty much estimated. Someone should be able to do that for you.

Sam--what's the verdict?

Verdict of ER

Post by samandaw1 »

15 eggs
14 mature
13 fertilized
11 are dividing
7 look promising

I am just hoping for two great ones to implant and extra's to freeze. I go in on Weds for my day 5 transfer.

That's the news as of now. I also did my first progesterone shot today. Not as bad as I though but boy, is my butt sore.

Good luck to all
