Hi Bella - Isabella arrived last Friday after having to be induced (due to regular strong contractions but no cervical changes). She is a wonder and I know you will feel the same when your daughter arrives. Can't wait to hear the good news from your side!

Finally - Lucy Bella was born on Sunday morning at 8.10am!

It was a very long labour, with contractions coming regularly for around 40 hours (I didn't have to be induced in the end). Finally I went to the birth centre at midnight Saturday night and was 7cm dilated, but still had 8 hours ahead of me!!! All was natural until a little help from the gas when I started pushing.

Lucy was eventually born in the water, and apart from slight delayed breathing (to which I was unaware there were doctors with resucitation equipment storming in), she was 100% healthy.

And here is the best bit.....
She weighed 9lb 1 oz (or 4.190kg) and was 59cm long! Aparently the longest baby they have delivered in that hospital!!!

Breastfeeding has it's moments, and with many a sore (and cracked) nipple, but we are home now and I just love her so much I could eat her!

I will post some pics soon and catch up properly. Would love to know some other early difficulties you all had (with breastfeeding, constantly checking that they are breathing! etc.).

Bella.

Bella and Little Lucy Bella

So happy for you! Congratulations! Welcome to your beautiful babe and what a lovely name :)

Well you have a basket playing super model on your hands! I was wondering if all that weight on my bubba was going to be because she was so long and svelte ... but err not quite!

Cant wait to see the pics, and hope you enjoy getting settled with your lovely new little girl.

I can relate to the whole BF thing, its different for everyone, and youll find your way and whats best. A couple of suggestions are to slather Lansolin (nipple protection) cream all over yourself, well the relevant bits often after every feed especially if your sore. I had the same problems. Lots of people recommended to me to see a lactation consultant early to get the latch right, which I didnt get around to in the end. Wish you all the best anyway! The first five days were very stressful for me with no milk and bleeding chewed boobs, but it did actually get better though didnt think possible at the time. I also considered expressing milk a couple of times for the more stressful night feeds especially when I was very very sore! Wish you all the best anyway :)

And I think every snuffle, grunt, wheeze, whoop and the rest of it has kept me awake, but the midwife assures me all normal.

Cant wait to see the pics, and hear from you

congratulation hugs
Mel, Maia and Lee
