Hello and how is everyone doing? Colin is still sleeping in his own bed and mom still not sleeping so well, but better. Today we went for his 4 month shots and one of the questions was "does your baby turn over"? I answered no. Well tonight he has turned over 4 times for the 1st time from back to stomach so here we go again. Just as I was getting comfortable sleeping at night it just gets worse again. I am scared he is going to roll on his stomach while sleeping as he moves so much at night. I did have him in that thing (sorry) that's not supposed to let him turn but he wiggles out of it at night so the Dr. told me to take it out of his bed. Can anyone give advice on how you keep the babies from turning over in the night. We also started spoon feeding him on rice cereal. That was just the cutest thing. Well gotta go will talk with yall soon.

Madiva - I read that once the babies start rolling it is ok when they are sleeping because if they are in danger they can roll themselves over. Isabella has been a tummy sleepier since about 5 weeks..I try to put her on her back but because her arms and legs are constantly moving she wakes herself up...I do check on her constantly..she is still sleeping next to our bed as well. But this weekend we are fitting out her room! I am so excited to actually get her room done. btw: I am an Auburn alumni!

Sue e - Sounds like Isabella and Jessica also have the same eating habits. Did the doctor mention anything about her gaining weight and how? Is she on cereal? I am always concerned Isabella is not gaining enough weight but the doctor doesn't seem to be concerned.

KristiA - How are the boys? How is cereal working out?

We are doing well. Tomorrow big shots! We have the first appointment at 8am so it means waking up very early but I wanted it over and done with and no waiting in the waiting room. Isabella is starting the process of rolling from back to front...she is throwing her head back and arching her back and kicking with her legs..she hasn't rolled from back to front but I think within a couple of weeks she will.

Tracii - The health visitor would like to see her move up the scale a bit, so wants her weighed every couple of weeks. She is also 62cm, so she is quite long, although she dosen't look skinny at all, still got a big head!!!!! I have been told not to introduce other foods until she is 6 months old, so i am going to wait, as i know if i done it ealier and things didn't go well i would be worried. Jess keeps going through funny patches were her feeds dip and then she only takes about 2 or 3 oz, so i am also hoping her feeding will be better before introducing solids. She has to have infant gaviscon in her feeds so she keeps more of it down (has reflux), so she is also being monitored at the hospital.

As long as the doctor is not concerned, isabella must be doing well, its so hard not to stress about everything though, isn't it? after all we have been through to get here, we just want everything to be right. Hope the shots go well, jess has got heres next week (had to pospone the a few times)


Hope all those babies who have progressed to rice are enjoying the new experience!!!! I am sure there are a few funny moments when doing it.

Hi everyone,

I'm glad to read everyone is doing well. Tracii - I agree with Sue...if Doc is not worried, it's best to try not to worry about her weight. Lucy slept through the night on Sunday, but we moved her into the cot on Monday, and that has been a bit of a nightmare. Lucy sleeps on her side, and she doesn't seem to stay on her side as well in the cot - she always rolls onto her back, and then becomes unwrapped, and wakes herself up.

I have also been a little bit off - I have had depression for a long time, but since Lucy has been born it has gotten much worse. My constant worry for her has just made me anxious all the time. Am now on anti depressants and starting to see a counsellor. A bit full on, but I just want to get better, if not for myself, but for Lucy. I have to say, it has been very tough. Luckily DH's work has allowed him to work from home in the afternoons for the next couple of weeks, so that is good. Am not sleeping, even when Lucy is. Lucy stayed the night at my mum's on Saturday night, but still got very little sleep. Hopefully things will start to get better soon.

It's very weird to feel this way - Lucy is a really beautiful and good baby. I guess I just have my own issues to deal with so I can start to fuly enjoy her.

Sorry to be so deep, but apart from mum & DH, I have not told anyone, so it feels good to get it out.

Hi Ladies-

Bella - Thank you so much for trusting us to share something so personal. It is great that you have recognized that you want to get better and are seeking help to do so. I hope that this goes well for you. We're here for you!

So... are all of you stay-at-home mommies? Am I the only one that had to go back to work? Luckily DH quit his job so that one of us could be home, but I feel like I miss out on so much. Plus, by the time I get home at night, Hendricks has turned into a growly bear. Mostly because I think he is teething right now and he gets soooooo mad when he can't shove his toys in his mouth. He literally sits and chews on my finger for a good 30 minutes straight almost every night.

Hendricks is not rolling yet, although he is close. I like to think that it is his 20 pounds that are holding him back He's doing ok with the rice cereal. He seems to like it, but now he is spitting up a lot more than he used to, so his tummy might not be quite as sure about it.

Are any of your babes ticklish? Hendricks laughs hysterically when you try to change his shirt or kiss his chin and neck. It is hilarious.

I've put a couple more pics on photobucket. There's one of him in the tub. It is probably my favorite picture of him.

Hey everyone! I finally put the boys in their own room and in separate cribs. Finally, after 5 months!! Gee, it took me long enough! I miss them in my room, but they are sleeping better and so am I. Cereal isn't going so well. It's been 2 weeks and I just keep trying everyday.

I'm still breastfeeding and have surprised myself that I made it to 5 months and still going.

Bella, sorry to hear that you are coping with some depression. I hate for you to have that during this special time. I'll keep you in my thoughts.

Julie, yeah my boys are ticklish and have started giggling. It's so cute. Makes me crack up.

No rolling or turning over for us yet either!

Bella - just wanted to pop on and say you are definately not alone with the PND, infact i feel i could of wrote your post. At the minute they are just trying to sort out my medication, prozac not helping much. Feel like there is hope today after having a good chat with a different CPN, who is going to take over my case. I can't believe how unexpected all the feelings were, i thought i would be dancing on the rooftops about having my much wanted babe, instead i was crying constantly, the hospital were great though and wouldnt release me until the support was in place, so came home with jess when she was 2 and half weeks.

Sorry waffle over, will be thinking of you and praying that we will all get to share in the joy and excitement a child brings

Julie - jess also laughs when i take off her bodysuit, so i guess she's ticklish, just need to find out where, so i can torture her when she's a little older!!! 20lbs, he is progressing well, Jess is now 12lbs 6oz

Ahhh..5 minutes of quiet time while the little one is still sleeping...

Sue and Bella - Our bodies and minds do funny things to us..especially with such strong hormonal changes in the past months. You have recognized that you are feeling depressed and this is a major milestone and both have the support around you. I didn't get depressed but there were moments when Isabella was having a screaming fit and my thoughts were how can I possibly love you when I can't help or comfort you? I don't have these thoughts anymore but it was really tough for me. We are all here so please don't hesitate to reach out.

Today we are buying the crib! Can't wait to see how it goes with room seperation. Isabella did well during the shots but in the evening got a fever...gave her paracetmol (sp?) went down but then in the morning she still had a fever....then it went down a couple of hours later. Not much new to report on the progress front....oh and doc is happy with her weight 5.56 kilos and is 62 cm! She has to wear 9 month clothes because her legs and feet are so long anything smaller her feet and legs get all smushed up inside the onesies.

Hi all!

Just a quick note to say we had a great holiday (have I already posted this?!). We tough going getting into a routine but we got there in the end. We even got a bit of a tan! (well, i did - Charlie is whiter than when he went!).
Since coming back we've moved more to bottle feeding in readiness for nursery. He bottle feeds as he breastfeeds though - little and often! About 3oz per feed about 8 times a day! All I do is steilise bottles all day! B/F is so much easier!
He has his "setlling in" session at nursery a week on Monday - as I go back to work in 2 weeks. I SO dom't want to! luckily I'm only going back 3 days but even that seems too much! Oh well - he'll probably love nursery!

Bella - hope all is well with you. Isnt it great how we can say things on here that we feel too difficult to discuss normally. Its a great suppport network.

Tracii - I hate taking Charlie for the shots. dp comes with me and holds him whilst I stand outside crying!!!!! Although Cahrlie crys though, it only lasts a few minutes and then he forgets about it. I get more hett up about it than he does!

Well done those of you who've moved their babies into their own rooms. Isnt it weird! We moved Charlie early cause he made so much noise when he slept!!! Talking of sleep am I really the ONLY one who still has to get up several times a night? We're still on 2 feeds in the night and no matter what I do to increase daytime feeds, it's still 1am and 5am. I feel left out - you all seem to have babies that sleep through the night. My health visitor says it's to be expected - he's only little and therefore can't take huge meals but it's not fair!!!!! Not too bad - he's only up for 20 mins or so but mr inconsistant! Doesnt actually "get up" till about 8 though so at least I have a lie in!

Right - he's been asleep for 15 mins so I have 15 mins left and I'm starving!!!!

Cla4 - Glad to hear holiday went well! I am so jealous!

We did it! Isabella slept in her own room last night. She did wake up at 4:30 because she was hungry and didn't go back to sleep until 5:30am but I am still proud of both of us! She is still in her portable crib. The new crib comes in 2 weeks but I thought even if we had the new crib I would still use the portable to just get her used to the room and then a new bed. I went crazy at the store...well it is Easter time so they have all these great knick-knacks to decorate for Easter -- but I bought stuff for her room like these great wooden flowers and silk butterflies to hang on the walls...so basically the "theme" is flowers and butterflies...tan as a background color and pinks and greens as the other colors.

Off for a cup of tea in silence before 'princess petunia pants' wakes up (my nickname for her...you all know what those diapers smell like )

so we are about to start cereal in a couple of weeks and was wondering if anyone had any tips and tricks to make this big step? or what to expect from their baby? (i.e. will she cry and spit it all up?)

Hello all, I guess everyone is busy with the little ones. Or should I say big ones. How is everyone doing and what is going on with the angels? Colin is doing great. Still sleeping in his own room and sleeping the whole night. I find him every morning on his stomach which keeps me up through the night. We started cereal a week ago and he has picked it up pretty well. I think he thought we were playing with him and he would spit it out and laugh. After a few spoons of cereal he cried for his bottle. The third night he ate it all and so on. So he pretty much has the hang of it. It is so funny he attacts the spoon. Can't wait for the fruits, my doctor said to have him on it by 6 months. I think he will enjoy that.

Traci- We just played with him and did not let him see his bottle while we fed him. He probably will keep spitting it out, but the get the hang of it quick. It is alot of fun seeing the faces they make. When we started I gave him a few bites and then a little of the bottle to get it down, but as soon as he got a taste of the bottle that is is what he wanted and started crying for it. You will enjoy it, just make sure to video the first feeding. I have a video of every feeding so far. Well enjoy and let us know how it goes.

Hi Tracii-

The biggest thing on starting the cereal is the timing. You don't want to wait until she is starving or she may have a screaming fit. But, if she's not hungry at all, she may not be interested. It is hard to find a balance. When we first started, we had the cereal really runny, almost like thick formula. The look on Hendricks's face was priceless. It was like "what on God's green earth is this crap in my mouth?" The first few days, he really only swallowed it by accident rather than on purpose. He only ate a couple of spoon fulls. Finally he started to get it that this was a good thing and he'd really start to actually eat it. Now we can't shovel it in fast enough for him. It hasn't become a complete meal replacement for him though. He still takes 2-3 ounces of formula afterward. Right now we mix 2 tablespoons of cereal with 3 tablespoons of water (he won't eat it mixed with formula). He usually eats about 3/4 of that amount before he's done.

The hardest/funniest part now is that he still tries to shove his hands in his mouth while eating and so he ends up a complete mess by the time we are done. Save the bath until AFTER the cereal.

P.S. It is probably easiest to have her in some type of chair rather than trying to hold her while feeding her. Also, Hendricks tends to be more of a spitter now than he used to be. Usually 2-3 hours after the cereal is the worst. But, it doesn't seem to bother him.

I had the same experience with the cereal. They didn't eat hardly anything at first. Now after 2 weeks they are finally getting it down. I found I had to mix it thicker so they had something to swallow, instead of having it mushy like the instructions say for the first feeding. I also have them sitting up in a Bumbo chair. And Julie is right...timing is everything. At first I did it when they were hungry...bad idea because they screamed. Now I still do it in between meals when they are alittle hungry and alittle full. Also, I feed them really fast...put the next bite it right after they swallow...otherwise they start screaming and it's all over. Doc told me to do cereal once a day for 2 weeks...then twice a day for two weeks....then start adding veggies, then fruits.
