jeneden wrote:I have two questions:
1. Is your period after the bcp and while on Lupron the same as a regular period- lighter? heavier? I'm waiting for mine to come anyday- hopefully today or tomorrow and wanted to know if I should expect a "regular" one.
2. How long does the stim medicine sting? Is it just while going in or longer?
Thanks!!
I agree...no one really knows what it's like to go through this. It gets really frustrating for me!

Jen, my period after the bcp started in about 3 days and started slow, like lots of brown, which I don't usually have. Now it's here in full force just like a regular period for me. The stim medicine only stung for a few seconds...not too bad all things considered!

Thanks Melanie! I'm just a needle wimp!!! I begged Dr. Hasty and Tammy, her nurse, for prog. suppositories instead of shots, but got a resounding "NO!" from both. You said you might ask your RE- let me know what he says. I would think the entire practice has the same answer, but you never know.

I'm okay with the little needles but those PIO needles scare the crap out of me!!! Tammy is my nurse too (if it's Tammy Williams) so I bet for sure they'll say no. Waaaa! I want the suppositories. Did they say why no?

Hi

Post by lynneyd7 »

Hello everyone,
I had my u/s and b/w this am, everything looks good and they are getting bigger. She thinks I will either trigger Wednesday or Thursday. I go back tomorrow for another u/s.

Lynne

Best of luck to all.

Melanie,
Tammy Wagner is my nurse- she said that a few years ago, they went to suppositories and their preg. rates went down, so they went back to the shots. She also said that the EMLA cream is not worth the trouble (you have to put it on 45 minutes before shot, it's messy, ice works just as well, etc..) but a parent of mine (I'm a teacher) just called me yesterday to share her experience and she used the EMLA cream and said it worked and she didn't feel a thing. So, I'm going to ask for a prescription and try it. Couldn't hurt- HAHA!!

How's everyone else doing? I'm still waiting on a period!! Supposed to start stims on Sat.

I went to the dr today for b/w and u/s. They said I was suppressed and ready to start stimming on Saturday, June 16. I'm also lowering my lupron from 10 to 5 units. I'm also using the Gonal (225 units twice a day). Thats a total of 3 shots a day (yeah for me). For those of you that have started stimming, was the Gonal cold or at room temp? My nurse said today that the Gonal stings less when it is at room temp.

Jeneden - My period has been a little lighter than normal and the usual color. I guess everyone will be different depending on how long they were on the Lupron. By the way, I am also a teacher.

For everyone that has been venting frustration (including me), I think it is ok to do so here. I think we all feel the same way sometimes.

Lots of baby dust to all!

Brandi

Ur follicles seem to be 14 cm big now, usually they want to see the follicle around 18-22 cm before triggering, so seems like ur follies are growing well as expected. Doesnt ur nurse tell u ur BW results ? Ask them if not.
Sat/Sun is not far away for ur trigger woohooo :)

Kerri

Y doesnt ur RE let u start stimms before Saturday?? usually they start 1-3 day after u get ur period right ??? anyway we both will be close, since I may start on Thu - i hopefully if the BW & scan go welll...praying :)

I took my last bcp on Sat and still haven't gotten a period. I'm a little worried, because I was supposed to start stims this Sat. as long as I got af.
Mybaby- did you ever get af? I'm going to email my RE nurse and see what she thinks.

Thanks Mybaby- My nurse just emailed me back and said essentially the same thing. She said spotting may be all I do and I am going in Friday am for u/s and BW, then hopefully will start stims on Sat.

My Baby

I did ask the nurse yesterday why I was waiting so long to start stims. She said at my clinic, they start everbody stimming on Saturday. She acted like she really didn't know why. Who knows? :?

My AF was light and short. Actually not as painful as usual which was refreshing.

Yesturday got my baseline BW and ultrasound. Everything looks good. I started Follistim this morning. It did sting quite a bit, but really not that bad. Hope today goes good.

They are kind of doing a ladder thing.
For 2 days 300 IU, then for 2 more days 225 IU, and then for 3 days 150 IU. Then I go for my first ultrasound.

They said I should be drinking 1/2 gallon of water everyday. Man am I going to visit the bathroom a lot.

Sounds like everyone is stimming well, for those who have started. Waiting for AF to arrive. Have an ultrasound scheduled for Friday if it arrives by then. Probably start Follistim on Saturday if all goes well. I have heavy cramps today and keep running to the bathroom to check, but still nothing. Probably if I would just relax and do something else, it will arrive.

Elvisbaby,
They are right about staying hydrated. My first IVF I ended up in the hospital a few days with dehydration. Not the usual case, but I sure do plan on stocking up on fluids.

Take care all.
