Hi to you guys!
I was away for the long weekend and am back feeling great! I guess I am not feeling really upset this round because I was pretty sure it wasn't going to work from the day of transfer. So, I have been able to bounce back quickly - but I certainly have had other rounds when I haven't been so resilient.
I went for my bloodwork this morning (part of the process) but got my AF on Thursday and it finished over the weekend. It seems a bit anti-climatic to go for bloodwork now. Anyway, it allows me to have my review appointment tomorrow (which I booked the day after transfer since I really was sure it wasn't going to work). Then we can proceed. I'll let you guys know how it goes. I think we are going to use donor sperm the next round and I hope that is going to be in October!
Keep in touch and let me know when you guys cycle again.
Stressball, 2ndtimer - do either of you have frosties remaining?
Vlada, best of luck in your pregnancy!
Kelly
HI Kelly,
I was thinking about you this morning. I am glad that you know your next step and you are positive. Is your DH okay with the donor sperm....I always wonder how DHS take this IF issue. My DH also has issues but since his sperms fertilized 8 of my eggs...I dont know if my RE will agree for further testing of the sperms.
I do not have any frosties or money left. I dont know what am I going to do now...my mom has come over to stay with us....so may be couple of months I will just not do anything....
I am doing much better after my AF.....hanging in there...lots of lov

I am glad that you are doing better. This whole process sure takes a lot out of us emotionally.
My DH is actually pretty good with the donor issue. At first I think he was wounded about his sperm not being 'good' but the donor thing doesn't seem to be a big problem. He has kids from previous marriage so I think he is relieved that it is a sperm problem and not an egg problem - that way at least I'll get to experience biological children (not that I care about that particularly). We both agree that biology or not, we will both be parenting this child from the start which is the most important factor. I think that we are both relieved to have an answer to our problems conceiving that the whole donor sperm seems like an easy solution!!
Just so you know, my DH always fertilized my eggs with a very high fertilization rate (10 out of 11, 9 out of 11, 9 out of 12, etc). Fertilization and good quality embryos was never our problem. Apparently the dna fragmentation doesn't start to impact the embryos until they start to try to implant. The dna fragmentation fo the sperm is not the same as fragmentation they sometimes see in the embryos - two different issues. The dna fragmentation is part of the chromosomal characteristics that they can't see from the typical 3 and 5 day lab observations (without PGD).
If in the future, they can't figure out why it isn't working for you and they are suggesting donor eggs (since that is usually what they diagnose) I would insist on the dna fragmentation test just to determine whether it could be the sperm instead of the eggs. Just a thought.
Kelly,
Thank you for your kind words. I am having my first US tomorrow, so we will see.....
I am glad that you are doing good and keeeping positive attitude, i really really hope that it will work for you in october!!!!!! Good luck !!!!!
Sterssball, that is nice that your mom can be with you right now, i think that it will make a difference . I hope that may be somehow you can try again, believe me i know how expensive the treatment is ( our insurance doesn't cover anything related to infertility), but i hope that you will have an opportunity to do it again. Best of luck!!!!!

hi sorry to barge in on your conversation. My wife is waiting for AF anyday know and then we are going to start the process of fet. We have two 6 day blasts frozen . If you could tell me what meds you took to prepare and what day of your cycle you strted them that would be great. Also what day of your cycle does the transfer take place. We just had a miscarriage at 8 weeks after an ivf round. I am hoping the fet works. Good luck and God bless to all
Wow that was an eye opener....I thought good fertilization does mean good sperm....Now I will def ask for that test...thanks for the info....
2nd timer...I read somewhere that you will be trying again in Jan...Good plan...I also have to start yoga and excercise... I still do not know when and what am I going to do....may be change RE...

Hi Stressball,
I hope to be starting again much before Jan. Hopefully on my next cycle. I have my MD appt this afternoon to find out the plan. I'm really hoping that it's encouraging & not "well folks, we just can't get you pregnant..." I'm not expecting to hear that bad news, but one thing I've learned through this whole process is to expect the unexpected.
Have you ever considered adoption? We thought really seriously about it after the 1st IVF & FET didn't work. Friends adopted a little girl from China & she's just great -smart & pretty. When we started looking into into it the wait time was just around 6-8 months after the paperwork was submitted. Well... my DH just couldn't really get on board with the idea of adoption. He finally agreed because he's a good man & wanted to keep me happy, but I could tell he just didn't want to do that. He was pretty freaked out. Then the wait times sky rocketed to over 2 years! So I cancelled that, we found a new clinic, & I literally fought my way into the "refund program," so at least we won't take a devastating financial hit if it doesn't work.
We'll see what's next. When you're ready to start your next step, keep an open mind about finding a new clinic. I suggest shopping around to find a shared risk refund plan. It takes alot of the stress out of it.

OK, I just got the official plan from the MD. Next cycle I'll do another fresh IVF but this time no lupron. He thinks that maybe that slowed me down too much which made them have to increase the dose of follistim too much which may be making my uterine lining irritable. So I'll be on BCP's for 2 weeks, then microdose lupron & follistim. Also they are going to let all embies go to day 5 blasts, which he said is risky because of my age but so far I've been making a lot of embies so hopefully I'll have some to transfer. Last time I had 3 very good quality embies transfered on day 3, then 3 OK blasts transfered for the FET.
I feel better with the new protocal. I understand it's more of a risk that maybe this kinder, gentler cycle I won't make as many eggs or maybe they won't go to blasts but I really like how the MD makes changes & is proactive. So much better than the 1st clinic. All they had to offer was "We don't know why it didn't work, it should have, let's just try everything the same as before."

I am in the 2ww of my second FET cycle. Have all of you done natural cycles without meds? My cycle is quite involved with lupron shots for suppression, estradiol pills to building the lining, and progesterone pills and shots once the transfer takes place. Just curious as we only have one attempt left if this doesn't work (don't think it has )

Hi brs888,
I started out with BCP's, not lupron, then had delestrogen shots 2x week for a few days, then daily 2cc of progesterone shots (ouch!), and was also taking baby aspirin & a steriod every day. So it was definitely not a natural cycle. My first FET I was at a different clinic and the protocal was very similar to yours.
Best of luck to you!! Keep positive thoughts -there's no reason not to.

Thanks 2nd timer for the info. I am not sure if a natural FET cycle would be an option for me or not. I am still waiting to hear about the results from this cycle. Then we only have one more frozen round left, then we are out of embryos (2 frozen blasties waiting) and out of money! So, I just was curious about what my options were.
Thanks!
Brandy
