Hi Ladies,

Alreadyblessed - I am so sorry to hear that you are still bleeding and the dr. can't give you any reason. I know it is really frustrating. It also gets frustrating at home environment. I hope it improves by the end of this trimester and you feel relieved.

Sonu911 - Thanks for the cold tip. I am doing it but get lazy sometime. I hope you can stay away from the virus.

Babyloves - Wow, it must be exciting to have twins in the family. It can surely increase your chance. Hope the pain goes away. I know we are so conscious of our body that every stretch and sprain makes us tensed. I try to explain myself that the baby is growing and try to relax myself.

Mfalda, Literatriz and Jennywit - I hope you ladies are doing fine and had a nice weekend.

As for me, my cold is still there. I have tried to avoid any kind of medicines and take lemon tea with honey, hot milk and gargle with salt water. It does relax me but it is not going away. How much time does it take? Any idea?
Annie

amazu: the common cold can last up to 1-2 wks and if you have a cough, that can last 3-4 wks. if you're feeling better, i'd just keep doing what ur doing. If you're developing fever or increased cough with thick mucous/secretions, then i'd see ur doc as u may need antibiotics (usu after 7 days)...i hope you get better really soon!

Hi Sonu,
This is what I got from internet:

To protect yourself and your family from the flu:

* Get a flu vaccine
* Wash your hands often with soap and warm water
* Use tissue when you cough, sneeze or spit and dispose of the tissue in a covered trash bin
* Keep your hands away from your face
* Clean shared space more often such as phone receivers, keyboards, steering wheels and office equipment
* Do not share personal items such as, forks, spoons, toothbrushes and towels
* Avoid crowds
* Avoid people who are sick with respiratory illnesses

tHey say it is safe to get the vaccine.Hope it helps.

amazu: this is a list of safe (category B) antibiotics: its from Dr. Spock's website who writes baby books.

Amoxicillin
Ampicillin
Augmentin (amoxicillin-clavulanate)
Dicloxicillin
Macrobid (nitrofurantoin)
Flagyl (metronidazole) (although there is some controversy about taking it by mouth in the first trimester)
Cephalosporins including: Keflex (cephalexin), Ceclor (cefaclor), Duricef (cefadroxil)
Cleocin (clindamycin)
Erythromycin (all forms)
Zithromax (azithromycin)
Famvir (famciclovir)
Zovirax (acyclovir)
Valtrex (valacyclovir)
Clotrimazole-vaginal (Mycelex, Lotrimin)

sonu: i agree with amazu - the flu vaccine is safe.

I've had a lot of loose stools (TMI) and hair thinning...i feel like getting a hair cut to make it more bouncy..i think we all go thru some crazy stuff...

Babyloves - No we haven't found out the sex as yet, in fact we cannot. It may sound strange to most of you but sex determination is a punishable crime in India. It is very embarrassing to add that wish to have a male child is so prominent in here, that it leads to female infanticide. I know this is gross!! So govt has banned the determination of sex, to prevent this fatal practice.

As far as we go, after 10 years of TTC, we will welcome boy or a girl with open arms. In fact my DH wants a baby girl, he is always so stuck with pink dresses for little girls and he has been shopping dresses for my niece since she was born. Now of course she has grown up and she wants to have her own ways...:)

Hi Ladies,
Hope everybody is doing great. My cold and cough hasn't improved much and since I have developed a headache which is not going by tylenol so I have called my dr and waiting for her return call.
Babyloves - Wow! So many antibiotics. But which one should I take for cold? Anyways since I have asked my dr, hope she will give me something.

Sonu - I have read in a book that getting hair growth around tummy and other areas is common during pg due to the hormone. I also have some but I am not sure whether it is due to pg hormone or the surgery as they had shaved the whole of my chest till my lower abdomen to operate and since it was only in march so I think now the hair is coming out.

Alreadyblessed - How are you feeling? I pray to god that you stop bleeding soon. I know how much stress it gives us to see the bleeding and thinking abt the baby.

Literatriz , Mfalda and Jennywit - Hope you ladies are doing great and busy in your life.

Since I am not feeling very well so I think I should go and get some rest.
Annie

Annie - I really pray to God that your get relief soon. I know how troublesome it can get. This is the time when you can't really gulp any medicine like before. One has to be so careful, in fact extra careful. The references of doc will certainly be beneficial.

I think I have started experiencing some fluttering, I guess these are the baby movements. I have also started showing up with tummy shaping up in nice big 'O'. :) This all is so surreal.

You guys are not far behind...just a couple of weeks for most of you when you will experience this. In fact the thinner ones would already be showing up. :)

I read this verse this morning and it brought a big smile on my face, so I am sharing it with u all -

Well I just heard the news today
It seems my life is going to change
I closed my eyes, begin to pray
Then tears of joy stream down my face
With arms wide open
Under the sunlight
Welcome to this place
I'll show you everything
- Creed, "With Arms Wide Open" (Written by Tremonti/Stapp)

Hugs to ALL...and yes, GROW BABIES GROW!!!

Hi Sonu,
Thanks for the concern. Though my headache is better than yesterday but I couldn't sleep properly due to coughing most of the night. My dr. doesn't want to give me antibiotics without checking my lungs so I will be going to her clinic.
The lines of the verse are so touching that it brought smile to my face too. I am excited to hear abt your flutters. You are in your 14th week so I think I have to wait for another 3 weeks to feel this experience. Abt the tummy, I have been showing for quite a while now. I don't know whether it is fat or the baby. Last time, I didn't show up even in my 4th month but this time I am showing from 2nd months. Everyday I keep checking whether it has reduced or grown. Mostly the bulge is around my belly button and when I am bloated, nobody can deny that I am 6 months or more.
Anyways I am praying for myself that this cold and cough gets over by this weekend. It is stressing out my dh too as we are worried that it shouldn't be like last time. Hope everybody is doing fine.

Good morning!
Annie: you had asked about antibiotics for a cold. You probably know this, but i thought i'd explain- a cold is usually a virus for which there are no medications, only time and your own immune system gets rid of it. Sometimes, if colds worsen over time, they can lead to a bacterial superinfection like bronchitis or pneumonia. A bad doctor may sometimes just give you antibiotics for a simple cold to drive the patient away, or sometimes patients actually nag about wanting one (i've experienced this). I think ur doc sounds good as she/he wants to check your lungs. I hope you get a good check up and feel better really soon. It seems like you may need a course of a safe antibiotic.

I'm actually also mildly sick with a sore throat and some diarrhea. I'm going to try salt water gargles. I've never liked over the counter meds anyway...

Sonu: wow..it must be so nice to experience these new changes esp since you weren't showing before. But also feeling the baby move is exciting!!
I'm showing already and when i tell people (like the dentist office staff), they said i'm showing too..i had to buy some maternity pants yesterday :D. It was really interesting about the gender determination in India...i had no idea, but it makes a lot of sense. Have you picked out names?

Well, i had my ob intake yesterday, and she was pretty nice, very casual as usual. She was only able to pick up one hb at 180...hoping that the two are snuggling in together and difficult to tell apart :o It's hard with the doppler at 10 wks she said. I'm going in 2 wks to see the high-risk doc for an NT scan and some bloodwork. I haven't seen them in 2 wks, but it seems like forever. How often are you guys having u/s?

Hi everyone and little ones,
I have been a bit busy either planning what to eat, given the food intolerance that got stronger, or going to doctor's appointments. The perinatologist and the nutricionist were very helpful and DH is pampering me...that means, us.
Alreadyblessed, hope the bleeding has stopped already or at least stopped itself at the no-worry level of spotting.
Babyloves, how are you doing? When is your next US? I do use the salt water natural remedy and it has helped me many times, right after I notice a sore throat.
Jennywit, I found your nancy-nervous comment very funny. I do have this overpreocupied, supersticious strike in me: if I have a bad dream about the babies, I need to make a great effort to convince myself that it has nothing to do with the reality of the pregnancy. Hope the growth of your baby brings you to the brighter side of hope!
Amazu, the connection between the Rubitussin and the thyreoidis is...we can't forget to remind doctors of our needs and questions. I was a bit worried about the fact that your doctor prescribed this medication. In my country, it is not prescribed to pregnant women...people take it with alcohol to get hi, too. Of course, you are not drinking :) I hope you are finaly coming out of this cold!!!
Sonu911, thanks for the reading recommendations! The hair growth is a consequence of the hormones and it goes away, as well as the darkening of our nipples and skin marks. Don't worry about it!
I was touched by your story about the Indian girls...in many countries in the world, we come as a necessary subproduct of humankind. I am very glad to know that your husband has learned to to love and nurture a baby girl. Whomever comes to your home, will grow learning to love and respect boys and girls, men and women.
Sorry if I missed someone...but I whish you all wonderful up-dates!

Hi Ladies,
How are you? Yesterday, the dr checked me and said that it is cold allergy which is causing sinus headache and congestion. She told me if symptoms doesn't improve by next week she will give me antibiotics but she thinks I will be fine. I got to hear the baby's HB which was a plus to the visit. I went for my NT scan today. Due to the confusion in the appt taken by my ob office, they did my u/s and took the blood report but I have to wait to talk to the genetic counselor who will give me the statistics abt the report. Though the tech and the dr. said the u/s looked perfectly normal and good. So we hope the blood report and other statistics will come normal too.The baby was waving his hands all the time as if he was saying "HI mommy and daddy". I am bit sleepy as got to get up early for the appt. So I will be doing personals next time. Take care.
Annie
