All:

If Retrieval (I'm not great at abbreviations)..is Friday and transfer back in is either Mon or Wed. Can I golf on Friday? Work is having our annual golf outing....I'm thinking that if the transfer is Monday I probably could, but not Wednesday...any opinions?

When I was first PG with my 4 yr old (and had no idea) I was at a wedding at DisneyWorld drinking heavily, dancing and riding rides! Would not have been doing all of that had I had any idea my little Amanda was in there! Certainly don't want to risk anything with all of the process we're currently going through.

Also....my husband is always on his cell phone with an ear piece, he runs sales/bus dev for a consulting company in Chicago so is always on his cell...and a BIG news piece came out that cell phones hooked to mens belts (IE using an earpiece) has been linked to male factor infertility. In fact if he's driving in his car and is on the phone (which is all of the time) he puts the phone in his lap. I highly suspect that this could be part of our issue. As everything with me looks pretty good (for a 35 yr old). Has anyone else heard anything about this?

Paige,

I really doubt golfing would hurt anything but I'd probably err on the side of safety and not go if the transfer ends up being Wed. I asked my clinic about bowling two nights after my transfer (we are in a league) and they said they'd advise against it. Of course, that was a little different as it would have meant picking up something that's 12 lbs. and throwing it. Everything I've read says that after 48 hours, it's okay to go back to normal activities with the exception of high impact aerobics/running/horseback riding, etc. I think that, like you said, it'd be ok. if transfer ends up being Mon.

As far as the cell phone issue, I read an article about that as well and was a bit alarmed at first. I'm 34 and everything checks out fine with me as well. My DH also lives on the cell phone for work as he travels a lot. The article I read though said the sample used in the study was very small and that the results could have been explained by other things so there is no reason to panic yet. I have to think that there are so many men who carry cell phones all day that it would be a huge problem if it were true.

Hi JaneM. Hope your EC goes well tomorrow and you get lots of eggs ! EC's nothing to be scared of. Tomorrow night you'll be wondering why you were worrying.... but you might feel pretty uncomfortable (bloated, tender) tomorrow night. Everyone's different, but after my EC I couldn't straighten up for a good week... so don't be alarmed if this happens to you.

Paige - all the advice I've ever seen on these boards ... no strenuous exercise, no hoovering .. etc ... (anything that pulls on the stomach) would lead me to say I wouldn't chance the golf - whether ET is the Mon or the Wed. That is only my opinion though. Is it EC this Friday ?

Thanks for the advise Sandra & Staci! EC is this Friday...doing some type of HCG shot tonight to trigger ovulation. The needle looks humongous/ominous! It actually spurred me to call the Dr and ask for the Emla cream to numb my skin. Someone had mentioned it earlier and I have used it before albeit for bikini waxing :D I hope it numbs everything up good!

Good luck to everyone! I'm glad I'm out for the EC tomorrow, I really don't want to know what's going on.

paige, ah a fellow golfer......... i was reading your post about whether
to play golf, i normally play golf once a week, but after et i didnt
want to risk it so didnt play during my 2ww, i just wanted to give myself
every chance, i finally got my dream after my 4th attempt and i was
advised not to play till i got to that magical 12wks, when i started again
and was playing right up till my scare at 29wks when i went into premature
labour, which they managed to stop, so now its rest for me.
hope ec goes well for you. alisonn

Alisonn & Traci

Thanks for the advise. Hopefully I'll have a Wed (day 5) transfer and won't even have to think about whether I should go or not. I miss all of my sports/working out etc., but I absolutely do not want to jeopardize any implantation that might be trying to happen.
BTW the Emla cream was a dream.....didn't even feel the 1.5 inch needle last night, I think it will be my new best friend.
Traci: I golfed my best games when I was pg last time...my bump made me keep my arms straight throughout my swing, look out Tiger Woods ha ha. Although the size of my bbs is so frightening right now, it might have the same effect. Did anyone else's stim phase increase their size/sensitivity?

Paige - hope you get lots of eggs and aren't too sore!!
Never heard that a cell phone can effect fertilty.

Went for my progesterone check today and had to wait 50 minutes for a blood test!! But numbers were good so can't complain.

Don't think I'm going to make it to Tuesday!!

2nd Scan - low folicles

Post by tracie »

Hi everyone, just thought i would post a quick message up, i'm on my first try on ifv and have have had my 2nd scan today, only showing 1 folicle on the right approx 17mm and on the left i have 1 at 15mm and a cluster ranging from 5mm to 8mm, i have only 4 days left of stimulation and hope that they grow some more. I'm a bit worried as i was hoping for a few more.

Am i just over worrying do you think?

Tracie

Welcome - could do with another Tracy/Tracey/Traci/Tracie
Worry is all part of IVF I am afraid but you will be amazed at how quickly those cluster grow and some follicles carry more than one mature egg.

Good luck

Well, it looks like it may be over for me.
I now have no symptoms. This is so frustrating!!!

Has anyone heard of someone with lots of symptoms (prob from the HCG shot) then no symptoms turning out to be pg???

Oh Hope

Please don't give up hope. All my symptoms have gone and I am feeling less than confident but there are exceptions to all the rules and not everyone has symptoms. I put a thread on the 'other side' and some had no idea that they were PG so be strong and don't give up.
