Yea well it's not like you haven't given ivf a good go. We always said that we'll give it one try and if it doesn't work we will carry on with our lives. I guess everyone says that on there first try!
I was on 100 and then they increased it to 125 and my levels hardly moved. They thought that as my fertility was fine that I wouldn't need a high dose but I guess everyone responses differently.
What is the adoption process like in oz? I know in NZ it's quite a struggle.

Kery, I'm so sorry to hear they cancelled your cycle, but they will learn from this and you will be back stronger and better than ever! My understanding is that its the EC and ET that incurs all the big bills so if you have already paid for them, you should get it all back. I'm not too sure how adoption works but have heard that it differs from state to state. In QLD the books are currently closed so there is a long waiting list. I have heard that Tasmania and NT have shorter waiting periods.
Ozstock - sorry to hear that you are in limbo at the moment. But good to read you again!
Cheeky- how are you feeling? 10 weeks already! I assembled the nursery yesterday with my mother...it looks really good. Not a lot of room left though once you put in 2 cots, change table, single bed (has to stay in there - no where else to out it!!) But we bought some drawers for inside the wardrobe and I finally went through all the bags of clothes that I have bought/been given. DH will get such a suprise when he gets home! Not to mention relif that he doesn't have to do it!
Hi Tiger - great to hear from you and congrats on getting a plan together after so much waiting. I have to say that the 28th May is my birthday, so I have good vibes that things will work out just fine for you!
Hi jomae - hope you had a good easter too.

Hello Aussies and Kiwis!
Thank you for your welcome. I am glad that I have some 'likeminded' people to bug with all my questions about IVF since this is my first round.
Just a quick update on what is going on here - OPU today (remember I am using donor eggs) and transfer on either Friday or Saturday.
DH has his little job to do today at some stage - the clinic will call me at work and let me know.
Oh, started the lovely pessaries this morning and had last injection (yeah). I feel great - no side affects from any of the medication so far.
So excited!
Anyway - baby dust to everyone here!

Wow that was quick! Well done you and your clinic for getting back on track so fast.....I had to wait a month between each of my IUI's and IVF and it was so frustrating.
Well last night had my first real contraction. And man it hurt! I woke up and went to roll over and then POW! Thank God it only lasted 30 seconds. But then neither of us could get back to sleep cos we were waiting for the next one. None came and when I went to see my Doc this morning he said I will probably get more but need to REST to try and hold onto the babies longer. He did a scan and they were both head down which is good, if a little scary as they looked like they were lining up at the door!
Watch this space!

wow! Em - haven't posted much as taking a bit of break following another BFN but just had to drop in and say hi. That is so exciting for you, (if a little scarey) . I hope you can rest up for a few more weeks. Tell those little babies not to be impatient and to stay put for a little bit longer.
Keep us posted . AX

Well, our egg collection did not go as well as expected - we only got three eggs, but yesterday they were doing well as embyo's - two were definite go aheads and one was a probably. At least we have three and I am very grateful for that.
I am waiting for the clinic to call me to let me know how they went for another night. Transfer tomorrow!!! Oh so excited.
Off line for the weekend so I will let you know how it all went on Monday or Tuesday - the dreaded two week wait. Ohhhhhh - exciting and scary!

Hey Barbs
Got my fingers crossed for your little embies to keep splitting and to keep getting better and better. I'll be watching this space for your good news. Take it easy

Hi Barbs
I've got my fingers crossed for you too! Hope the transfer all goes well and those embies keep growing!
Em - Thats's great that your babies are head down and ready to go! Will you be trying to have them naturally or having a c-section? I bet you thought that they were ready to come when you got a contraction the other night. My son was three and a half weeks overdue, by the end I thought he was never going to move!
Hope everyone is well.

Hi Em
Boy you must be getting nervous with having a contraction it all makes if feel so real to think you'll have your babes soon but don't get to inpatient you want to keep those bubs in as long as you can so feet up and get all the rest you can you will definately need it when the babies do arrive. Question do you have your drive plan in order hubby knows where to go and how long it will take . anyway take it easy.
Jomaexxx
Barbs - sorry to hear that you only got the three eggs but great to know that they are making such promising embryo's. Look forward to hearing how transfer went next week. Will you put back all 3?
No more contractions for me but lots of aches and period-pain style cramps. My groin hurts and they must keep hitting my cervix which stings. My belly has visibly dropped in the last week too. We just went and did a massive grocery shop and I bought double shampoo, etc so I can pack a labour bag. It is very scary and exciting!
Jomae - DH works at the Mater from time to time (they are one of his clients) and so knows how to get there. And my rush to hospital at 18 weeks prepared us both. We just need a plan if he is at work and I'm at home as its a 40 minute drive back out to get me. He actually asked me why I couldn't drive myself in!!!!!!??????!!!! Men.
Hope you are all enjoying a peaceful saturday.

They say that 36 weeks is about right for twins. Any longer than 38 weeks and they start to get distressed and the placenta's stop function so they dont get enough nutrients. I know of 5 ladies who have had twins and their dates were 26, 28, 30, 37 and 38 weeks. My doc keeps saying 32 weeks would be good for me to hang out to.
