Okay, easy question for all you mommies. I am 20 weeks with my girls and feel them move sometimes...when does it get to the point where you can really feel them? Feel them seperatly? Sometimes I worry when I dont think I am feeling them enough....I know it is still early but just wanted some insight.

Hi sugabeanzs,
I think I started feeling the babies more regularly at around 24-26 wks. I'm 34 and half now and feel them alot. It was weird in the beginning b/c sometimes I'd feel one more than the other and I knew this b/c of the sonograms I'd know where and how each one is laying. And of course stress when I wouldn't feel the other one. Then I'd start feeling the other while I didnt' feel the one that was active to begin with. I guess they take turns lol. However, now and for the past month....I feel them regularly. It's a lot of fun feeling them but sometimes it's annoying especially when it's bedtime and mine seem to be so active around 11:00-midnight. I'm sure I have some nightowls lol. Don't worry about your babies I'm sure they're fine when they start getting bigger and you feel them more regularly you'll know if something isn't right.

Sugabeanzs~ 20 weeks was when my babies kicked it into full gear. Everyone is so different in this area but mine started off pretty mello and then really let it all go crazy by about 22 weeks. So many women say they can tell which one it is. . . not me. My little girl was all over the map and at every u/s she was in a different position with feet all over. The only day I knew for sure was the day of an u/s and even then I had a hard time telling. Good luck!

Well, I ran into our Dr.'s office yesterday to get some weights and although Annelise looks much bigger she is only about 8 oz. bigger still. She is 15lb. 12 oz. and he is 15lbs.4 oz. They look so much bigger and are outgrowing clothes left and right but their weights just don't change much. Annelise is just storing it in her chubby cheeks! :D

Better run since I had a wild hair to agree to a job! AGHGHH! So far, not so motivated. This attitude better change pronto!

Have a great day everyone!

Wow, lots going on and lots of new moms in a short while!
Contrats to all new Mommies and Mommies/Daddies to be!!
My twins are 14 weeks and growing very well. Unfortunately, Alyson still has some stomach problem and is not doing so well. But, she's growing and gaining weight fine. It's just that she cries a lot, almost like having colic, and I feel very sorry for the little girl.

They now sleep until about 4 to 5 AM straight from about 9 pm. Noah sometimes sleeps throught the night until about 7 or 8. I cannot wait until they do it consistently. I am getting very exhausted. Alyson only naps in the swing during the day, and I am not very thrilled about it. I just don't have the energy to bounce her to calm her down for a long time. If I try to let her cry, she will just get so worked up she makes the choking noise. I partially read the babywise and applied the milk/play/nap schedule. It works on some days but I guess I have to read the book throughly as I've just skimmed through it (no time).

I hear things will get easier and I just cannot wait!! Sleep-wise, it is better but just my energy level is not there. Could it be due to my hormones? Without the energy, I just cannot keep up with my three kids.

I have not had a chance to read all your posts, but Kim, wow! Your babies are walking! That is a great news. Congratulations. Now comes the fun time of chasing them going different directions very fast.

Agggah, I have to wash bottles before they wake up for the last feeding of the day. Well, I am so glad that everyone's doing well.
I promise I will check up again shortly!

Take care!

Hi gals!

Sugabeanz--I think I felt my kiddos move around the 20 week mark? But, honestly, it was hard to tell most times which baby was moving. I really didn't worry about it though. My doc said that twin mommies can't use the "movements per hour" guide that the What to Expect Book tells you to do. When I got towards the end of my pregnancy, I barely felt them move at alll--they didn't have room to! I do miss those little kicks though....ah.....that makes me want to be pregnant again!

Kholtan--I'm a bit surprised on your babies' weights too! Annelise looks so much bigger than Bodie (at least in pics--maybe it is those adorable cheeks!). I thought she'd weigh significantly more than him. You do have lightweight babies (no overweight worries, yeah!)--at 9 months, Ellie was 20 pounds and Braeden was 18.....I can't even imagine how much Ellie will weigh at our year appt. My poor arms! Good luck with your job. I hope it doesn't last too long.

Kimi--I'm glad the nights are getting better! 7 or 8 hours is awesome! I hope you're sleeping too! I hope DD feels better soon.

Sarah V--Some mommies don't end up having enormous bellies. I did. WEll, at least in my 5'4" world, it was big. I found a picture a few weeks ago of my belly just a few days before delivery--scary, for sure! But, don't worry--it does go away! Mine is gone, and my little "line" up my belly has nearly disappeared too. It is amazing what our bodies can do!

We survived our trip to the lake this weekend! We didn't get to test out our life jackets yet because the boat was being worked on and didn't get put in the water until our last day. We did take a ferry ride to one of the islands. Ellie loved watching the water! Of course, we were completely off our normal nap schedule all weekend, but they handled it really well.

OKay, off to work! Have a good day!

Hi Sugabeanz and Sarav,
Yes our stomachs get huge. I think mine really started getting real big when I got close to 30 wks. I noticed more eating and more hunger. I've been careful just to eat when I'm hungry and it seems like I can eat and then be starving in the next hour! I think it's b/c I dont eat a lot at one sitting b/c there is no room in the stomach and it takes forever to digest. I'll be so glad when my girls get here so I can start to feel normal again. I have to say I've enjoyed my pregnancy up until these past couple weeks. I'm just uncomfortable all the time and not sleeping well. It just goes with being pregnant. Just don't freak out about it you need to do what you gotta do to keep your babies healthy until they get here.

Thanks SaraV I will love to take on the big task first haha. But you are not too far behind!!!

Well, thanks for all the movement updates. I am not really worried just more curious because I feel them sometimes and not others...but man, I got sick this morning! I never had morning sickness as some of you probably remember but today that was not the case! (At least I hope it was morn. sickness...I feel fine now). Sheesh. Second tri?

I got really excited yesterday to meet my girls. I just want to give them a kiss! If it is true that most people with twins deliver at 34-36 weeks then I only have 13-15 weeks left!!! Time to gain the weight so they can get fat on their body.

The sleep schedules that you all talk about scares me since I need my sleep not to be cranky. I hope mine behave! (as best as they can of course).

sugabeanzs--don't worry! You'll get plenty of training with sleep deprivation towards the very end of your pregnancy. You'll be a champ by the time the babies arrive!

Hi Ladies,

May I ask you guys a quick question - Basically needing some advise and words of encouragement..

I find out yesterday to my suprise that we are having TWINS!!! I'm 9Weeks along, we saw two strong heartbeats and both looking good.

Baby A is smaller than Baby B is that common/normal with Twins?? RE said it's possible that Baby A implanted later and hence that's the reason we never saw a heartbeat 2 weeks ago. we only saw one heartbeat but two sacs..

He did say it's still too early and 50% chance that it could go either way?? i'm not sure now i am worried..

Has any of you heard of this where one baby is smaller than the other?? and when do you stop worrying about misscarriage..

I don't want to sit thru and worry everyday about losing the baby but rather enjoy and be happy and hope for the best!!

pray that they are healthy..

But I just need you guys advise since you'll are so far ahead of me..

Congratulations Sameera! Welcome to the club! If you read back on some previous posts, you'll see that several gals on here had the same size difference you refer to. Since they're fraternal twins, it's pretty common for them to be different sizes. After all, they are two unique individuals. Even now, my baby A--my daughter Ellie--outweighs her brother (baby B) by a few pounds. I wouldn't worry too much.

I do remember feeling the same fear as you about losing one or both of the babies. All I can say, is stay positive. I think that PMA is so important in helping you have a healthy pregnancy. I do remember my RE telling me that once you hit the 12 week mark, the chances of losing one of the babies was significanly low (like less than 10% i think?). Just try to stay positive. I know it can be hard not to worry!

Good luck to you and keep us posted!

Hey Everyone!

My internet was down for 3 or 4 days and although there wasn't much chat I still felt like I was missing something. So glad to be back!

Sameera~ Like Kim said, it is very normal to be different in size. Mine have always been slightly different. Oddly enough, the difference always made me feel like they were individuals and I was sorta happy they were paying close attention to them. Good luck to you! Keep us informed. WE all love new baby talk!

Sugabeanzs~ Not sure what the real normal is but I delivered at 34 weeks. They say the babies don't start really gaining weight (fat weight) until after 32-34 weeks so don't get too crazy trying to fatten them up before then or you are likely to just fatten yoruself! YIKES! As far as sleep goes, it never bothered me but I do think you just get used to it. Your body, like Kim said, will prepare you for it and they babies sleep soooo much when they are newborn that I found I had to wake them up. It will all work out and go by so fast that you will be sad when they sleep all night. I still peek in at least 2-3 times a night. I just miss them when they are asleep for 10-12 hours.

Kim~ I thought Anna would be sooo much bigger also. I was surprised myself. I'm not worried about them but my son looks VERY tiny. He is soooo small and although Annelise is just over a 1/2 lb. bigger, she seems so much more solid. I am always trying to feed him more and get him to nurse extra but he simply eats to live. Unlike Anna who lives to eat. This may be why after 9months of breastfeeding I have been gaining weight! GAINING!!!!! AGHGHGHGH!!! My jeans are so tight! I eat every time the babies do! I need to learn some self control for sure or I will weigh more than I did before I delivered. Perhaps life for me has come to. . . . that dreaded word. . . . .Exercise!!!!!

Better run. . .literally!

Hi Everyone,
Well it's coming down to two weeks for me and I can't wait. These girls are sucking the life out of me lol. I have a head and some feet up in my ribs under my boobs and the other is right above the pubic bone. I am so uncomfortable I can't wait till they are here! We had a NST test done yesterday and all is well I'm at 35 1/2 weeks. The drs are pretty sure I'll make it to my c-section date june 13th.
Sameera- As everyone else has said different sizes are normal. Mine to this day are still different sizes. One is weighing 5.4 lbs and the other is 4.7.lbs. That was two weeks ago so I'm sure we're a bit bigger now.
Sugabeanz- You will get plenty of practice of sleep deprivation. I don't think I've slept the whole night since I've been pregnant. However now within the last two weeks I'be been getting up every hour to use the bathroom and then come 7/8 am I'm wide awake. I do try to take naps in the afternoon but dont' always. I think I'm just having a hard time getting comfortable.
Take care everyone and happy Friday,
Kimberli
