PIO question

Post by Marin »

Loopie- hang in there! only 1 more day!

Thanks for the feedback on my fert report! Good to know I am in the normal range.

PIO ?:

Did anyone else read the package insert for the PIO? It says a warning for pregnant women... "There is an increased risk of minor birth defects in children whose mothers take this drug during the first 4months of pregnancy. Genital abnormalities in female and male babies. " Apparently the risk is 5-8 per 1000 males normally, with progesterone its 10-16/1000K.

It concludes, "Therefore since these drugs may induce mild masculinization of the external genetalia of the femal fetus as well as hypospadias of the male fetus, it is wise to avoid using the drug during the first trimester of pregnancy".

I assume the benefits outweigh the risks here? No one mentioned this to me about the PIO. I have to start it tonight.

Has anyone heard anything about this?

Loopie: Congratulations!! That is incredible news. There is so much good news circulating on this board, I just can't believe it.

Marin: I read the PIO insert before starting them too. I was surprised by the warning as well, but rationalized that the risk is still around 0.1%.

Congrats again all of the Newest POAS. Thats great. Take it easy. Ive been really queezy feeling the last few days but it very well could be the OHSS. It was especally bad early in the morning and then in the evenings. Who knows. Im still draining alot but It is much better then being misrible and not being able to eat sleep and breathe normal. I encourage yall to get checked if you think you have to much fluid. It takes a while but you will feel much better if you get it taken care of. Once you are dehydrated you will go from ok to terrible.

21---dont give up a line is a sign of hope!!!!!

LOOPIE: Can it be??? ANother BFPPPP!!!!! :)
So happy for you girl!! (And glad you made it to church today  ) All of you POASers better STOP tempting me!! So happy to see so many girls on this thread get their dreams. And for those of us that haven't gotten it yet, let's keep up our PMA!!!!

Katie: Glad you are feeling better :)

Love: Hope you get a great report tomorrow on your follies!!!

RBJean: Yeah isn't all this good news encouraging?? THERE IS HOPE! :)

Marin: I imagine the warning refers to women taking progesterone in addition to what our bodies naturally produce. BUt one of the effects of the ER is that progesterone is removed along with the eggs, so the PIO is replacing what naturally occurs. The warning is prob for women who have it in their system already.. make sense?? Fert report sounds good. I had 8 eggs, 6 mature 5 fertilized 3 made it to blasts.

Weezie: what's the word on you?? How you feeling?? Didn't you get a 5 day tranfer on the 3rd like me?? Man you girls are tempting me bad with POAS!!!

Ems: Yikes no sex for 3 mos!!! Man dh won't llike hearing that. It hasn't even been 2 weeks and I need steel armour to keep him away!! lol!

Tammy: How are you feeling??

Hello to the girls I missed!!

I am looking forward to my vday test!! I think I have decided to POAS (once I get my bfp) and then empty put one of those heart shaped chocolate boxes and put the stick in there and then give it to him when he gets home!! What do y'all think?? :)

PMA all the way girls!!!!

As for me, I have been sooooo dizzy today and just not feeling well. I think I am starting to get the symptoms. UGH! I thought I may get past those? Wishful thinking? lol. Still exhausted but now just getting sick feeling. I think my boy is starting to feel those hormones. My ultrasound is one week from tomorrow!!! Do you think I can hear the heartbeats that early? we're on a roll.

Mia- I'm totally in shock with you. I thought for sure you would have POAS by now. Good for you. Stay strong. Someone has too. :D

Katie- I hope that you get better soon. Please take care of yourself.

Rio- J&K did IUI, so I didn't ask any questions. The seminar was fantastic! More spiritual than I expected. But then again, I guess that's what happens when you are told you are preggers with 7. Yep 7. They lost one within the first week. And a week after finding out the news, he was fired and stayed unemployed for about 10 months! No one would hire him because no one wanted to carry them on their insurance!!!! She spoke about the 6 most influencing passages from the bible that has gotten them through their life. They are so true to how they are on TV. She is the talker and he is passive. They just finished a book and it will be out in the fall!

I never read the insert of the PIO. Wow. Okay.....are any of you using the Vivelle dots??? I hate them. I never had any moodiness during any of the meds and then all of a sudden, I put these damn dots on and wham! I am an emotional basket case. And DH and I are going at it like cats and dogs. I'm going to ask them if they can test my E2 on the 14th to see if I can't get off them earlier. BTW, I POAS again today and the line got darker. We shall see on Tuesday. Well, I'm outta here. I've got to get some rest before I head back to Houston tomorrow. Ahhh. My last week there. I don't look forward to the move though. Normally, I am the one who packs and moves a ton of things and I help DH with all the heavy stuff. He is a terror when it comes to moving. Cursing, screaming, etc... I can only imagine what he will be like next weekend when he has to do it all by himself.

Wow, only a few days away and this thread has gone mad! Just got through 17pages!!

Anyway, my test was on saturday and it's a tentitive BFP! It was a urine test and the nurse said the line was quite faint and took a little while to develop but it is there (took a picture of it when we got home!). It was all a bit surreal - at first the nurse was saying she wasn't sure, got other people to look at it, then said she was pretty sure it was a positive but would have to come in three days later for a blood test. Of course DH and I were just going 'what on earth is going on'. Next thing we know she's off into the lab and telling the embryologists that we are pregnant (when she's only told us a perhaps/probably). So, hence I'm saying it's a tentitive.

What is reassuring is that as it was a FET, I haven't taken a hCG shot for ovulation (and I didn't when they did ec - used a different protocol) so there is less chance of a false reading. As other people has said over the last few days a line is a line (and you can see it in any light without squinting!).

So, I'm going back in tomorrow morning (tues) for a beta and the nurse is expecting it to be in the 1000s. I'll be 21dp3dt. I just wished my clinic just did bloodtests as standard as it would save all the heartache/worry.

I must say when I read that Alex01 got a really faint line and then a good bfp it gave me a bit more hope - many many congratulations as well.

Oh rio, I had 3 embryos transferred.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow and lets hope my beta makes it to a good level.

Congratulations to everyone else as well!!!

Ladies...

Post by keita1981 »

I've been following this board for a long time. and some of you know me as I posted on post introducing myself. I can't remember if I posted that AF finally started about 2 weeks ago. I should be ovulating either tomorrow or Tuesday...ive been using the opks... so they are getting darker. It is only cd 11 for me. so a week after getting a lh surge, i should be starting the suppression stage. I'll be on the long lupron protocol. anyway, just seeing all the bfp just brings me so much joy. it is such a blessing to see so many bfp. this will be my first ivf. my challenges are in my siggy.

any words of encouragment, is very much needed.
