My dentist said its safe to do some types of dental work in the second trimester. Ask your dr. and see what she says. The dentist also said they like to schedule an extra cleaning since apparently pregnancy can do a number on your teeth.

Hello Everyone

Tburks- It is great to hear from you, and I am glad to hear everything is moving along for you.

I am starting to feel more and more sick. Funny how it took until 10 weeks for it to really hit. I need to stay away from food that is not good for me, because that is what seems to make me sick. I still have only actually got sick once, but I have the sick feeling pretty much all day now. I cannot believe I still have to wait until the 9th until I have my next doctor's appointment. The waiting is what gets to me.

I was thinking of renting a doppler so I can hear the heartbeats myself when I want. I still have to get my husband of it though.

Molly, I bought a doppler with my last pregnancy off the internet. It was a little over $100 but well worth it. It doesn't really work great until about week 14 but as soon as I started feeling the babies I quit using it.

I have another u/s tomorrow. I am curious to see what is going on. I have been feeling a bit crampy (well it is hard to tell if it is actually crampy or just belly ache) and my back hurts ( probably from playing on the floor with the babies all day). Should be my last appt with RE.

For all of you who will be seeing a peri.....be glad. It was a lifesaver for me. They have great u/s machines with 3d/4d. I have over 100 u/s pics from last pregnancy. They have plasmas on the walls to see u/s. It is great. I will be seeing one this pregnancy too since I am high risk due to preterm labor last time.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!

Good Luck on your ultrasound Twinmom, and let us know how it goes.

I am about ready to rent a Doppler. I found some online you can rent for $40 a month that has a digital reader. It is suppose to be the same ones they use at at doctor's office, and should work at 10 weeks. Is this the type you had twinmom?

Hi all, sorry I have been really busy lately things are crazt at work. I had my OB appt this morning. It's so weird they really dont do much. Since i have been with my RE basically all of the early screening tests are done. They did use a doppler type of thing to hear the heart beat, but she said it is really early to be able to hear it with that. They did pick it up for a second but not long enough to register it. But 2 weeks ago it was 148 when they did the internal ultrasound. We decided against the genetic screening, it just felt right, I really thought I was going to do it and then at the last minute I decided there wasn't anything we could do (or were willing to do) to change the outcome so there is no point in worrying about it. I hope all is well with all of you. It seems very wierd to settle into a normal pregnancy and not be so entirely focused on IVF any longer. at 12 weeks when the shots are done it will be even crazier, I will truley be like any other pregnant woman!!!

Hi everyone! Just checking in...I have been released by my RE & had my first OB appt last Wednesday. It was pretty exciting because I got to have an abdominal u/s!!! I've never had one of those, so much nicer than the internal ones! The babies looked great. My OB said she could start to see facial features...crazy!! My bleed is about the same size as last week, but it looks better because the babies have grown. We are going to keep a close eye on it. I'm going to have weekly u/s every Wednesday until I can feel the babies move!! This wasn't even my idea...my OB just wants me to relax as much as possible. I'm still on bedrest, not working. That part has been hard, but it will be worth it in the end. My DH's Grandma passed away Saturday so we're trying to get through that. She was only 66 so we weren't expecting it. She was diagnosed with lung cancer last month. It's hard to stay calm & stress-free with all the sadness around me. It makes us so sad that she won't be able to see our babies.

Tburks: How was your OB appt today? Did u have an u/s? How's your back? My sister always has back problems with her pregnancies & the chiropractor helps.

Twinmom: I hope my peri has a 3d/4d u/s! I guess I'll find out next Monday.

Molly: I've been thinking about getting a doppler too. Let me know how yours works.

Hello ladies, I am so excited I get to see the Perionatalogist for the first time today after work. Things have been good, I am not spotting as much and I only get sick if I don't eat often.

I will post later and let you know how my appt went. Have a great Tuesday.

BarbD- I am so happy you get to see the Perionatalogist today. Everything I have read about them is awesome. I do not get to see mine until 20 weeks, and that seems so long away. By that time we will all know the sex of our baby if we plan to find out.

Shelley- That is cool you got your abdominal ultrasound. I am so sorry about your DH's grandmother passing away. My husband's grandmother passed away this past December, so I can relate on it being sad she won't see our babies.

Did the doctor tell you how much longer you will be on bedrest?

Niki- I agree with the OB not seeming to do much at the appointment. Did they talk to you about genetic testing? It has not even been mentioned to me yet. I understand why you decided against it, and even though I like to know things I would not terminate my pregnancy based on the results.

I had a rough night last night, and was not feeling well, so I stayed home today. I am feeling better now, and just waiting on the doctor to call back on the pains I am having in stomach. I read it is most likely round ligament pains, but I would like to be sure of it.

Hi ladies. How is everyone feeling today?

Barb~ I am with you on feeling sick. As long as I eat often I feel relatively okay. Hopefully m/s will end soon. How did the Peri go? At my 13 week appt with them (with twins) they were able to tell the sex of babies. Their machines are so high-tech and much better than ob's and re's.

Molly~ The doppler is a HI Bebe Fetal Doppler. It says for use of ob's and midwives. Hope you are feeling better. Strange how your morning sickness kicked in so late.

Shelly~ THat is so great that the ob will see you every week for an u/s. That has to make you feel a bit better. Sorry about the bedrest. I feel your pain. I spent 5 1/2 long months on bedrest with the twins. Even had to eat laying on my side. I hope you can get out of that bed soon.

Niki~ I think all the RE appt spoil us. Really the OB is like a baby factory. Get you in and out as fast as they can.....lol. Is your OB one person or do you have to rotate among many dr? Mine is rotating which sucks due to the fact that all of them are NOT my favorite and you never know who you will end up with.

AFM.....last RE appt was on Monday. It went well. Baby was big. Measuring 11w instead of 10w4d so that is nice. SO my due date is b/w 10-19 and 10-22 seeing as I dont know when my last AF was. I guess my peri will be able to measure better and give me a better idea of due date. Not sure when my appt is as the RE is setting up my appt with her.

I just found out my OB really wants me on some kind of bedrest my entire pregnancy! She said I can't go back to work (I'm a nurse at a children's hospital) unless they can find me a desk job where I am guaranteed to be able to sit all day. For now I'm stuck at home full-time, but maybe when I'm 13 or 14 weeks I can start getting out a little in a wheelchair. She just thinks this is probably my only chance to have a baby & we've already been through so much. So...here I sit. Yikes!! My manager said the hospital can probably find some sit-down work for me to do. Unfortunately, we do need the income.

On a happy note, we had another u/s today. Twins looked beautiful! Both growing so much & moving & waving like crazy :) Heartrates are in the 170s. And...drumroll please...the bleed is almost completely healed :) We had a hard to seeing it today!!! Yeah. She said it's kind of like a bruise healing & that right now it's in the "yellow" phase. That makes me feel SO much better!!! Maybe I can actually relax & enjoy this pregnancy soon. Also I got a prescription for Zofran because I've been getting sick about once a day & feeling nauseated ALWAYS. Hope it helps.

Twinmom: Wow, 5 1/2 months! I guess I'm headed that way too! But I definitely don't have to eat laying down yet. Congrats on your "big" baby. What great news :)

Hope everyone is doing well!!!

Well ladies I did have my first OB visit and the pictures where great two of the baby were moving and baby B decided it was going to turn its back on us. Like always they did state that because of my age(37) and my height (5ft), it was going to be very dangerous to carry triplets. They also told me that it would be dangerous for all of us. Baby C is not doing well and they want me to go for testing this monday. The u/s showed some time of problem which they would not elaborate until all my testing are done.

The OB told me that I might have to consider reducing baby C, cause it does not look promising. My DH and I are devestated at the taught of doing such a thing.

They u/s even showed a forth sac that never developed, I am so totally crushed right know and I don't how to feel.

shelley--I am sorry about the bedrest but we have to do what is going to be best for us and the babies. I work in a Pediatric wing at the hospital and they are going to try to give me more desk work as well. I am a PCT and it is hard to do all the stuff that I normally do on a daily basis.

Molly is ok that you have to wait for week 20, that means everything is going good and you are doing marvelous :D

I will keep you guys posted. Thanks for being here to listen to all my worries.

Good Morning Ladies.

BarbD - I am sorry to hear about your current situation. I totally understand how you feel. Keep the faith, I know you will do the right thing for you and the babies.

Well this week I did something crazy. I stopped taking my progesterone and estrogen a week earlier than my doctors wanted me to. My DH gave me my shot on Tuesday in a vein or artery which was quite painful and that was the last staw for me. I can't do it anymore. I hope that all turns out well. I am going to see the Perinatologist tomorrow to confirm that all is well and to set my mind at easy.

Shelleyj5 - sorry to hear about you being stuck on bedrest. But you are doing what you need to, to ensure the health of your babies and that's important. I totally understand the juggling and I am sure you will find a balance.

Ok, hope everyone continues to have a great week. I personally can't wait for the weekend.

Went to the OB this morning. So far, so good. The baby was moving like crazy. Then, the dr. said, “why don’t we do a nuchal translucency.” – even though it wasn’t scheduled. I was all for it. She had some trouble finding the exact angle she needed. But, was able to report that everything looked fine. The measurement was 1.2mm – over 3mm they start to be concerned. DH was a total wreck and couldn’t even look at the screen. I think I’ll have to go on my own from here on out – he said he’ll wait in the waiting room (like the 1950s, I guess.) I told him I’d look for a book to help him feel more comfortable. Let me know if any of you have good suggestions. I have this forum and “What to Expect” so I do know more about what’s going on. To him, everything seems so scary and he’s waiting for the shoe to drop.

Molly
In “What to Expect” it says you can’t always find the hb easily w/ the Doppler, so I thought it might cause more worry. Let us know how it works for you.

shelleyj5
So sorry about DH’s grandmom. That’s really tough, esp. when it’s so suddenly.

Wow, you’re really in for a dramatic (if sedentary) adventure. I hope you like to read. My two days of bed rest after the transfer pretty much made me ready to throw the tv out the window. It'll all be worth it once you hold a beautiful, healthy baby.

Twinmom
At my HMO,after the prelim appts, I can get the same OB from here on out, which is great because I really like her. But, the delivery staff rotates, so I could end up having the baby delivered by a stranger, which is a bummer.

BarbD
Sounds like a very stressful situation. Thinking of you and wishing you the very best. I know there are a lot of people with strong opinions, but you need to do what you think is right for you and your family. I had to make a very difficult decision when they discovered ancephely with my last pregnancy and many of us understand how heart wrenching it can be.

Joannet
My OB thinks REs overprescribe the progesterone and estrace and that it’s really not needed for most women. To be extra sure, you may want to ask your RE to test your levels. I’m supposed to go off 4/9,then come in 4/11 to make sure progesterone is over 30. If so, I get to stay off of it.

siouxsie--I have to do that nuchal translucency on all three babies. Does it hurt? I am really scared for all these test that they want to run on both the babies and me.

I have to do the progesterone shots till 4/9 but they are decreasing it slowly. My last RE appt is 4/15 so I can't wait for that.

Hope everyone is having a good day.
