Ok folks, I'm scared! I have my first ultrasound on Monday, which will be week 7 for me, and I'm so terrified I won't see a heartbeat, or anyone in there. I definitely feel pregnant, tired, peeing like mad, etc. But I also fear it's all in my head since I haven't had a beta in so long...

It's normal to feel this way right? Everything will OK I hope. I just want what we all want: a healthy baby to go the distance. It just feels like on this journey you trade one worry for another up until the day the baby is born. *(What's also playing in my head is my dearest friend had a 10 week miscarriage of a DC a couple of months ago, and her heartbreak is still so fresh in my mind....)

Anyway, i can't wait to get to know you all, and really hope by Monday afternoon, I'll have seen a heartbeat. Does anyone know if you can HEAR one at week 7? Or is that too early?

Osi -- So nice to see you here! I believe we cycled together last fall. Congrats on your baby!

Lostgirl -- I share your fears as well. Even though I saw my baby doing well on Tuesday (just 3 days ago) I am already nervous again. I just feel too good most of the time to be pregnant...lol. I really hope your u/s is perfect and puts your mind at ease.

Karenvancouver -- Yay! So happy to see you over here. I have been thinking about you. You are so totally welcome here and I believe I speak for everyone.

Krcaja -- I'm so glad your u/s was awesome. I hope you feel a bit better now. Honestly, I do have the same fears. Glad you made it over.

Justlikehannah-- Congrats on boy/girl twins! You are going to be the first one here to deliver and share your stories.

Rio -- So glad your fetal echo came back perfect. Now you can really celebrate!

AFM -- My pants are getting tight. I don't look pregnant. Just chubby. LOL. I don't know what to wear. I'm too small for maternity pants and I haven't told anyone at work yet. I'm trying to wear nice yoga pants (Costco) with longer tops and elastic waist skirts. I just feel fat though with my waistbands all digging in. Ugh!

Welcome newcomers!

Lostgirl: Yup... My experience so far has been: Worry about beta, worry about second beta, worry about third beta, worry about ultrasound, worry about next ultrasound, worry until out of first trimester, worry about Down's testing, worry about BH contractions, worry about...

Osi: I had really bad MS too. Cheapy pop sickles were the only thing that provided relief. Don't worry - it should go away.

Justlike: What a beautiful picture! Congrats on your babies!

AFM: I noticed today that my uterus grew about 2 inches in 2 days! I swear it wasn't this high two days ago then POOF! it was a lot bigger!

Lou - Just wanted to agree with Lostgirl on the bellyband. They really extend the life of pre-pregnancy clothes. My MIL got me a couple from Motherhood Maternity and I can still use them and wear my regular "fat" jeans even though I'm already starting to outgrow most of my smaller maternity pants. They let you keep your pants undone (so you can breathe  ) and hold everything in so it's smooth under your shirt. It can peek out of the bottom of your top to look like a cami. Very cute and insanely practical!

hi all! thanks for the welcomes :)

lostgirl- the u/s machines have sound on them and you can hear the h/b through it, and see it too- botht the flickering of the heart on the screen, plus they graph the sound waves and you can see them.. you cannot hear the h/b on doppler usually until 12 wks.. some can hear it earlier, but depends on position of embie. best of luck for monday! and unfortunately i'd agree with happybunny about the 'worry'... i always find something to freak out over.. for the moment- it's getting this first tri over with..

lou- great to see you here! and yes, my pants got too tight a while back and i was grateful that i already had maternity pants to wear from my last pg... i don't htink i would have went and got some otherwise- in my last pg i was a nervous wreck about entering maternity stores- i literally thought someone might tap me on the shoulder to tell me i made a mistake and was in the wrong store! it's awful being uncomfortable in your clothes and they make some great looking maternity clothes, so i think if you're into it- just go get some so that you're comfortable

happy bunny- glad your belly grew!! i love it when that happens :)

hi to everyone else and talk to you all soon!

Karen, lostgirl, and baby_blu -- Thanks for the wardrobe advice. I do have two belly bands I bought when I was 10 weeks pregnant before (two weeks before I m/c). I packed them away but can break them out. And yes Karen, I think I'm going to have to break down and find a few maternity items. I have a Hot Mama store about a mile away along with a Kohl's and JC Penny. So although I feel premature being only 8 weeks, I'm going to venture in to look. I'll have to post a before and after pic of me. I can't believe how much my tummy is showing for 8 weeks. WTF?

ya lou, some people show quite early, even in a first pregnancy.. although this is your second time in a first trimester... i think if you're up to maternity shopping- you won't regret it, you'll be so much more comfortable, and no one will know it's maternity wear either!

i think it's great to show early- it's reassuring and makes it feel so 'real'.. with my son, when i was 5 months pg some people literally didn't believe me when i told them... that was annoying. i was showing by then, but i'm a tiny, fit person, so some just thought i was getting pudgy around the middle.

i'm showing now, but can easily hide it depending on how i dress.. i can't WAIT to be BIGGER!!!

I just wanted to say welcome to all of the new ladies joining us. The list is getting so long, and my brain is sooooo tired, I can't figure it all out! :) Welcome though, and congratulations!!

I will have to do some personals later, but I had to share a little of my excitement from today.

I picked up my 12 year old dd from class this morning, and thought I would look at a couple shops for some girl clothes, and then eat...which is my favorite thing to do these days. Anyway, walked through a couple stores, and browsed quickly, found that neither store had much to chose from in the little tiny sizes, and left. Which was fine with me, because I wanted to eat. :) I was probably on my feet for a total of 20 minutes, when we got to chiptole, I was craving guacomole...The line was forever long, so my daughter waited in line until it was time to order, but in a matter of the probably 3 minutes it took to get through the line, I was going down, fast. I couldn't pay for the food, walked away, and sat, as black was flashing in front of my eyes, my ears were ringing and my arms and legs felt like lead. Sheesh, I thought I was over this after the first trimester...guess not. It hit hard and fast. They were so sweet at the restaurant and gave my daughter a bottle of water for me, packed up what I ordered and brought it to me saying it was on the house. WoW! :) Talk about embarrassing though, although I am so thankful I caught myself before I passed out. That would have been a disaster, my hubby is in Cambodia, and there would have been no one to get the kids. Oh am I forever thankful I didn't hit the ground, as I was so very close. I feel awful still, and am wondering if I need to have my blood sugars checked. Not only that, but pregnant numb skull brain has hit, and I am pretty much useless. Haha. A nap is calling my name, so off I go.

Mellow: What a scary day! Diet is very, very important. I was having massive headaches, weakness and near fainting. My doctor advised me to balance my diet - eat more protein, less sugar (and spread it out over the day). My mother advised me to eat oatmeal for breakfast. I've been eating a lot more protein, less sugar and eat oatmeal and an egg for breakfast and I feel 10,000 times better.

Hi everyone, thanks for the warm welcome

LostGirl - Thank you for the sweet compliment :) Outside of hip aches, pains, and sciatica my body has treated me pretty good. As far as being nervous and worried... I wish I could say it eventually goes away, but I'm almost at the home stretch and still get nervous week-to-week. My suggestion is to surround yourself around positive and out of the box thinking loved ones who always have your best interest at heart. It has helped so much to have a constant flow of people, my DH being at the top of the list, who only focus on the good things that will happen and live with positive expectations over my pregnancy. And though I've had a few bumps in the road (subchorionic hemorrhage @ 9wks; possible pre-term labor symptoms @ 31wks) I've been able to remain hopeful and positive that all will work out just fine through the end of this process.

ALL that to say :)... your appt on Monday will be awesome and you will see and hear (it's not too early) a beautiful heartbeat from that day forward. :))

AFM - nothing much going on. My next appt is Monday afternoon and I should get updated measurements/weights on each baby, can't wait! Take care ladies.

LostGirl - we're so close together on our due dates! At exactly 6 weeks, I was able to see a heart flicker, but could not hear it. I'm exactly 7 weeks today and was able to hear the heartbeat for the first time! omg, it was music to my ears! I really teared up. Some days my symptoms are much stronger than other days, so I always feel like something is wrong. But after hearing that heartbeat today, I feel so reassured that everything is okay with my baby peanut. :)

Mellow - sounds like a scary experience! Glad everything turned out alright in the end, and yay for food on the house! How nice of them! Take it easy and keep yourself well-hydrated and fed! :)

Krcaja - so sorry to hear baby B didn't make it, but happy to hear baby A is doing so well! Glad to have you here!

Karen - also great to have you here! natural or IVF, we're on this journey together now, so of course you're welcome! :)

Osi - welcome! Congrats on your twins! Are you sure your due date is Oct 20th? I'm 7 weeks today and I'm due on the 21st.. :|

JustLikeHannah - you look beautiful! Congrats on your twins!

AFM - Had my second U/S today. Heard a beautiful heartbeat of 127bpm. It was the most beautiful sound I've ever heard! Definitely brought tears to my eyes. The NP (whom I saw for the first time) was a bit rude and lacked in bedside manners. DH was videotaping as soon as she started the ultrasound and when she got to the gestational sac, she did not see anything in it at first. She looked behind her and realized DH taping and said "do you want to wait and see if everything is okay first?" I got so scared. I asked "oh no, is something not okay??" and she started to move the wand around and we finally saw the yolk sac and the little heart flicker. Oh my gosh, I was so relieved!! I nearly had a heart attack. So the baby was measuring 6w6d, so just a day behind. And I've been graduated to my OB now! Bittersweet feelings about that, but I guess all in all, it's a great thing, so I'm super stoked!

Have an excellent weekend, beautiful mommas!

Mellow - Holy moly!!! What a scary experience! I agree with Happy Bunny. They told me high protein, low carb snacks on hand will help with those sorts of spells. I started packing beef jerky and cashews in my purse for outings. I'm so happy everything turned out okay. :D

Hope - How insensitive can a NP be??? Ugh. Some people are just in the wrong line of work. Glad to hear bean is doing just fine! :D

Oh wow I can't believe how the thread is growing!! So exciting to see the wide range of due dates. I've read all the posts but have no time to do personals...I'm in a theatre performance tonight and we have rehearsals today. Not much time last week, either! Ah well I'll catch up personals tonight or tomorrow.

We are doing well - can actually SEE the baby kicks outside the tummy now. DH is gone for two more weeks so I sent him video. LOL
