On end of week one of stims - another week to go - so we'll see how I feel about exercising in a few days! play it be ear I think. It my be my DH who bans me from doing anything before I do!

I was on progesterone last time - which i think they give you ti make the pregnancy stick (you body would produce it naturally is you got PG naturally I think). Its the ONLY drug that did me in last time. I'm sure its the progesterone that makes you pretty hormonal at the end - and basically makes you think you are are PG - which is pretty shitty when you're not.....just to warn you. Not trying to be -ve - but I guess its good to have the info?!

Gem - pleased you got the shopping in - I remember having a MAD nesting instinct last time just before my et - like I HAD to get EVERYTHING in that I'd need for about 2 WEEKS!! Hope you got some jelly babies and chocs in there somewhere?!

Take care all

Hi all - welcome to the week-end!

Gem - go those little embies! Good luck for tomorrow.

Tanya - I know what you mean about different clinic routines. Mine seems to be one of the few that does 5 day transfers routinely. This seems to be quite unusual. They reckon they can tell by the 5th day which is the best one, which they can't always do earlier. The downside is the embies are less likely to make it to day 5. I only had 4 fertilise, and of those only 1 made it all the way through, although 2 were looking OK at day 2/3. I guess there are pluses and minuses - I feel pretty happy with the clinic and feel like we are getting the best care possible, so I guess I just have to trust them.

Staci - have a fun anniversary! We had our first one this year, it was really nice - felt more special than I expected, for some reason! And I've never taken steroids, so I'm not sure what they are for or what they do.

July Ann - can you (or anyone) tell me what the deal with the DE thing is? are the donors friends or strangers? Do they get paid? how come they can pull out? I don't get it - and how come you've donanted eggs to someone else? is that part of the deal? I haven't had any experience with this - I suppose I just thought you had to find your own. I'm really interested to understand how it works.

And Jen, sorry to hear your follies are doing SFA - how many days are you in? I ask because I took ages to shut down - then ages to start up again! So long that the clinic called me a 'mystery'. But I eventually did get going and all was fine - although I have now had the longest cycle ever at that clinic! I really hope they come good for you. But I don't know if that's a possibility.

Squew, try and focus on how many fertilised, not how many you got. I got 10, but only 4 fertilised. So it's not so different - you're still doing fine!

Take care all,

Jaye

Hi girls,

Traci - well done - down regulated already. Hope your HRT goes well and your donor gets lots of eggs to share. Only fair when it close to Easter!

Caz - Hope DH gets on OK with his TESE and you with your EC. Let us know how you do.

Sue25 - Good luck for ET. How many eggs did you get given? How many fertilised? have you any frosties?

Staci - Hope you and DH had a lovely meal out for your anniversary. I think it depends on you and how you stim as to whether you put on weight. I didnt on my previous cycles. Also I dont downreg sometimes as I am a poor responder and short protocol then sometimes works better. I used steriods afterwards last time which was something to do with assisted hatching. I think it all depends on your clinic. Good luck for your stims on saturday.

Gem - Hope your ET went well this morning. Have you any frosties? I had bloatedness and trapped wind las time but it only lasted about a day or so. It was awful and I thought I looked 6 months pg!

Tania - Glad you are finding stims better than sniffs. Good luck for your scan. Dont worry about overstimming - they will keep a close eye on you.

Jaye - 225iu Puregon isnt the highst dose. Last time I was on 450iu daily so you are fine. Not sure if you have had ET yet but if so hope your embies are burrowing in. You asked about egg donors. They can be friends and relatives who give their eggs but often are anonymous girls who share their eggs in return for reduced cost treatment themselves. I am having donor eggs this time round so hoping my donor will produce lots to share. We then each get half of them.

July Ann - Hope your DI goes well.

JenF - I am sorry you are feeling so low. Its c**p isnt it. Dont be too down as follies can come from nowhere in a few days. Keeping my fingers crossed that your next scan tomorrow is better.

Sue (Squew) - I'm sorry you only got 3 eggs when you have had plenty more in the past but 3 embies is good and it does only take one. Quality is overall much more important than quality. I have had three goes and in total got only 13 so you really have done well. I too had a phsyic reading last summer and was told I would have twins and that it would be soon as she could smell the talcum powder. Like you I am still waiting but hope it will be my turn 4th time lucky.

Hi to Dagny - Hope your dream comes true as well.

I am still downregging at present but af hasnt arried yet. Scan next Friday and if OK my donor will start stims.

Love to everyone.

Hi All

Well all set for tomorrow at 8.30. At 12.00 today all were grade 1 -2(1 being the best) and at the 4 cell stage, so feeling more positive :) . I cant have 3 put in as I am too young(?!?) they have changed the law since Jan and you can only have 3 if you are over 40! Oh well nice to be too young for something for a change in this IVF thing! They have agreed to freeze my remaining embie as we still have 3 frosties left from before, this will give me 4 enough for another go. Seems a lot of money to freeze just 1 if we can but with the lack of eggs this time I dont feel I can loose any chances and that one might be 'the one' if you know what I mean!
Staci, I am taking steroids this time, this is because I had a borderline reading on my natural killer cells, simplified this meant that as DH had produced half the embie my body was possibly trying to reject it, and the steroids break down your bodies natural defence system allowing implantation to occur. Thats the theory anyway! My clinic has just published a research paper into this as it is also used on women with reccurent miscarriage with good sucess. I dont know if they do things differently in the states but I am sure that your consutant will advise you why. I am also having assisted hatching this time so I hope to god these extra things do the trick!
Gem- Hope your ET went well today.I am more bloated today than yesterday!! With re to trapped wind, I had it REALLY badly last full cycle, some of the girls on here said to take windease, it is ok even when pg to take, it worked for me so get your dh back down asda tonite for some! Hope you enjoy your chips!
Good luck everyone else

Hi Sue

GOOD LUCK for ET tomorrow. I will be thinking of you and crossing my fingers that it all goes smoothly. Grade 1's eh?? Well done :P

I went to see my consultant this morning and we can start again when I feel ready and had another AF. I am hoping it will be around June time so I will be a JCB. It's quite exciting and I must look forward not back. I expressed my fears about not getting many eggs the next time and he said that it can just happen like that and then the next time it is a good batch. He said we don't 'run out' of eggs and having IVF doesn't bring on menopause early. He said that it was the most frequently asked question!! We went to look at head stones this afternoon too so today has been a bag of mixed emotions :?

Gem - Glad ET went well for you. Keep those little embies nice and secure and I'm hoping a praying you get that BFP on the27th, fingers crossed.

Good luck to everyone else too - PMA PMA PMA :!:

Love Dagny xkx

Hi all,

At home today preparing to throw a big party for BIL's birthday. He's just announced he's getting married - but after 'subtle' quizzing, he said they're not planning on having kids for a few years yet - so cross everything I may be able to avoid a close relative pregancy in the near future (not that I'm obsessed or anything).

Hope your ET went well, Squew. Hope you're feeling OK.

Allison - I didn't realise you could be on more than 225 - I felt like a freak, so if you were on 450, I don't feel so bad! Thanks! Why did you need such a high dose? Did you overstim? They kept upping my dose because I kept not responding this time - don't know why, I've been fine in the past. Yes I've had my ET now - hopefully it is happily growing away. I'm due to test on Wed (but will probably cave in and do a HPT on Tuesday).

Thanks for the info on DE, it was really interesting. I've never heard of this arrangement. Isn't it difficult if you are not having luck with having children to know that someone else might be having them? Or don't you think of it like that, as I guess it works both ways? I'm sorry if I'm being nosy, if so just ignore me. But this is the first time I've heard of this.

I also had a fortune teller tell me there was a spirit 'trying to come through'. That was about a year ago, and I just took it as a good sign, unfortunately I didn't think to ask when! I did ask another, when I first met DH, whether we would have children. After some deliberation she said she thought we would, but it wouldn't be easy. Well she's half right so far...

Hope everyone's having a nice week-end - special thoughts to those of us on the 2ww, it's just hell. I'm so glad this is the last week-end before I know either way - I don't seem to think so much about it when I'm at work.

Take care all,

Jaye.

Hello all,

Had a great dinner out the other night for our anniversary. I enjoyed a HUGE chocolate martini (I am so going to miss those) and the continuous headache I've had since downregging actually went away for a few hours. Now, it is back to reality as I start the stims tonight.

Caz,

Your DH sounds like mine. I already know I'll have to sneak my exercising in while he is at work since he heard the Dr. tell me no exercising

Jaye,

I didn't realize you were in the 2 ww and so close to finding out! How are you feeling? That's so ambitious to throw someone a party at a time like this. I don't think I'd have the energy! I'm also finding it impossible to be around other people while I'm going through this. I totally understand your feeling about kind of not wanting relatives that get married later to be first. My DH has 2 brother who both got married this past year and I'm sort of dreading the inevitable day when one of their wives announces they are pg....that is if this doesn't work for us.
__________________________________________________

Gem,

Sounds like things are moving along nicely for you. Are you off from work for the 2 ww?
_________________________________________________________

Sqew,

Thanks for the info on the steroids. I tested negative for all the various autoimmune diseases but I guess my clinic just gives the steroids to everyone figuring it can't hurt. They also have everyone take a daily aspirin for the same reason. I hope things are going well for you today!
__________________________________________________________

Sorry for anyone I've missed. I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Traci,

Vodka (chilled) straight up with a splash of either chocolate or white chocolate Godiva. Very good though dangerously addictive so I try to only have them on special occasions!

CHOC MArtinis...HHHHHEEEEELLLLOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! Yum!

Hi all - hope everyone ok! SOOO many of us

Jaye - I'm on 200 of puregon and they seem to think that pretty average so wouldnt worry at all. Good luck for 2 ww - time goes slow eh? But not long to go!
Gem - you too - sounds like its all gone so well - you so deserve it this time - just rest rest rest!
Sqew - how was et?
Sharon - hety babe where are you?
Dagny - I am SOOOO pleased that you are with us and will be thinking of you , whichever month you decide to cycle - good luck!
Julyann/ trace - how you doing??
Staci - I too had headaches when downregging I think you'll find they go when you start stimming mine did. Fingers crossed!

As for me - had scan/ blood yesterday - looks like there about 12 eggs (same as last time). Everything seems ok. Prob have ec on Tuesday or Wednesday.
As for my Dh , Doctor said its very unlikely that we'll find any MORE sperm than we did last time a maybe less or perhaps NONE! GRRREEAT!
We only got 2 embies last time......so starting to get V V nervous about whether we'll even get to et :-(
Altho we have a donor back up -I have agreed with DH that if we have to use it, we will freeze the resulting embies....for now.

This is gonna be SO tough for me, going through all this and then not even getting to the 2WW. But DH REEEAAALLLY wants to have 3 goes - and I have to say that if I was in his situation I would feel the same way. I'm just a bit worried that he hasnt really bought into the donor thing and, might never do so. Maybe it will take the doctors to say to him " we found NO sperm, we never will, so there is NO point in ever trying again" for him to accept it. I dunno, tough old business this aint it?

Anyway - I must TRY to stay +ve as we MIGHT MIGHT MIGHT MIGHT get lucky this time!. and sometimes miracles do happen

Sorry to moan - am actually OK - but just a bit nervous, as you can tell.

cazx

ps - by the way , in case anyone is interested i am going out tonight and having my ONCE a week, VERY large glass of vino! DEFINATELY the way forward! SO excited!

pps - has anyone been watching the GAmes and if so , does anyone else other than me find Katy Hill a bit scary?!
