Hello everyone,

Zachariah Jacob finally made his grand entrance into the world on Sunday, 7th August at 1:19 pm, so avoided the dreaded induction!!! He weighed 7 lbs. 9 ounces.

Labour went well, agonizing or as SophieJ said, bloody painful but of course worth every minute of it. HAd a small tear and was pushing for well over 90 minutes because Zack was ina funny position but sorted himself out just as I delivered, ventouse was needed to help with the last push as my contractions had slowed down.

He was sleeping well but since my milk has come in wants to feed continuously and is having trouble sleeping on his own afterwards (was up form 9 pm to 9 am las t night and he finally went to sleep in his moses basket for about 5 hours this am but now awake).

VAlli, am awfully glad to hear that things went well and Priya is a beautiful name! Everyone else, will write when I've sorted out getting some sleep. Hope everyone is well and babies sound to be just thriving. Hopefully Zack will soon adjust to feeding and sleeping on a more regular basis (yeah right!) and not continously for hours so I can get some sleep!!

Love,
Elizabeth

Hi everybody

Valli -Congratulations on the birth of Priya. I am so glad that you had such support during your c-section, I know how scary it was for you.

Elizabeth -Congratulations on the birth of Zachariah, it must be great now he has FINALLY arrived.

Joshua is now 4 weeks and 4 days old, he has started smiling all the time now and has such a cheeky smile. He was born tongue tied and the health visitor said he will probably need a op and speech theorapy when he gets a bit older. I don't think they will know fully until he starts speaking. It means he will never be able to stick his tongue out or lick an icecream etc unless he has the op.

Joshua was in newborn clothes on Sunday but on Monday nothing fitted him he grew that much. So he is now in 0-3 month clothes. He has so many clothes, we have 3 drawers of 0-3, a large plastic box of 0-6, and a massive plastic box under our bed of mixed sizes. He is still getting presents.

My scar is still not healing so causing a lot of discomfort. I was discharged by the midwife because I had reached the maximum 28 days of care so I am now being looked after by a nurse and a health visitor who are both visiting weekly. They are arranging baby massage for Joshua and me and will take me when we start. I think it will be really good for us because I am suffering from post natal depression and feeling very weepy and low. I was up 22 hours yesterday and I am still not sleeping, it is very hard because Joshua snores like his dad so it is now in stereo!

We are going to a BBQ on Saturday. There will be a group of us walking there so everybody is planning on drinking lots (I don't actually drink alcohol, never have) so it will be fun watching them stagger back. John is taking the bottle of champagne he saved for Joshua's birth -it all happened so quick he forgot he had it!

Kim, Sophie, Jen, & Toni hope you are all ok and enjoying your babes. Kelly hope you are coping with the weather (although it is thundering here) and the next 4 weeks pass quickly for you. Kim -I was told that because Joshua has such a strong neck and doesn't like being flat we should try putting a towel under the top part of his moses basket so his head is raised, even put a thick book under the legs of his moses basket stand so his head is higher. Whenever he is on the floor we should also put something under his top half to raise his head.

Elizabeth - Congratulations on the arrival of Zachariah at long last !! An induction free natural delivery - just what you wanted !!

Valli - Congratulations on little Priya. Make sure you don't try to do too much for the next few weeks, just concentrate on your recovery and your beautiful new arrival.

Jackie - It does take a while to recover from a c- section but as long as you don't overdo things hopefully you'll start healing properly soon. Sorry to hear about your depression but it sounds like you're being well looked after and supported which should help your recovery. Thanks for the advice about putting books under the base of one end of the crib - I'll try that.

Toni, Jen and Sophie - Hope you're all well and enjoying motherhood. Your babies must all be growing and changing and smiling now too.

Smita - Thanks for your congratulations. Enjoy every moment of your pregnancy, you'll be a mum before you know it !!

Loads of love

hi everyone,
so sorry its been about 2 weeks since I've been on here. Parenthood is fabulous but very very tiring. Freya is doing well. Is 4 weeks old today. Her weight gain is slow but I think she is just going to be a small baby. She sleeps during the day and is awake at night!!!!
Jackie ... I can't believe Thomas is smiling all ready. I dont think Freya is anywhere near that stage yet. When she's awake she is normally screaming, so I think a smile is a long way away yet!!!

A BIG CONCRATULATIONS to Elizabeth on the safe arrival of baby Zachariah. How has the first 2 weeks been?? I found that I operated on adrenalin. Carl and I were going out lots. Its now that I am shattered and the thought of going out does not appeal at all.

Congratulations to you to Valli. Priya is a beautiful name, and I bet she is just as beautiful herself.

Jackie ..... should you have walked to the BBQ if your tummy is still abit sore????? and how are you finding the energy to go out???? Look after yourself. Its sounds like Thomas is a thriving little boy, being spoilt rotten but I agree with you, why not. They are so precious that I am picking up Freya the whole time and cuddling her. She also falls asleep on my chest. i must admit though thats not really my choice, but its the only way she will fall asleep.

I've bought another moses basket today ... hoping this will do the trick.

Hope everyone else is alright.
I'm just so thankful that dummies were invented.

I have started a thread on the Parents after Treatment board .... I have no imagination so have called it July/Aug mummies.
See you there

Hi everyone,

Tahnk you for the congratulations aand all your support during that long wait up to Zach's birth. Yes, I agree SophJ, motherhood is great but certainly tiring. Zach in the first few days slept in his moses basket, but then refused, and cried and screamed, He has had two growth spurts already, which measn he breastfed for basically 12 hours straight each time. After this, the midwife advised I have him in bed with me as I wasn't getting any sleep. So, much as I didn't want to, Zach has slept with us for the last week or so. I don't know how this will bode for the future, but at least I have been getting some sleep!! He is a very alert baby and he does fight sleep, so will only sleep if he falls asleep on me on a cushion, or sleeps on the bed with me during the day. Basically, he is permanently attached to me. I don't know how I will cope once Nathaniel goes back to work in September. Any advice please don't hesitate, I love everything about my baby but he is a handful-intense, he already frowns and smiles alittle bit, and when he really cries and works himself up he turns purple inthe face and hits me with his tiny fists!!,

HE has just woken up so I have to cut htis short, sorry no personals, hopefully one day I'll ahve some time.

Love,
Elizabeth

Elizabeth

I have fallen into the same habit of letting Thomas sleep on me for all the same reasons you have mentioned. Sometimes he also turns red/ purple when crying and also holds his breath which can be quite alarming !!
The advice I've been given is to put something under the crib mattress to elevate the baby's head as well as placing books under the base of the crib so it tips forward slightly.

At the moment I'm just going with the flow - when I'm ready to get a bit firmer and let Thomas cry for a while, I'll know, and then I'll try to break the pattern - until then I'll just do what I feel is best.

I see you've found the advice given to Jen on the Parents After Treatment forum - it really helps to know we're all in the same boat at the moment !!

Love

It's great to hear from you! Congrats on 28 weeks! Hope you are doing great! Been though a lot I'm sure but our time is nearing :)

The Level 2 Scan was great! Everything looks great and the baby weighs 3 lbs 5 oz. We are thrilled. A little nervous about how fast time is flying by though.

Minnow

Thanks for thinking of me! I hope you are doing well too! Looking foward to you joining us here as well! Take Care!

We have starting window shopping for prams and nursery furniture - any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as we have discovered we are very naive on the information front and are frightened of making some very expensive mistakes.
