So sorry to hear about the BFN - your time will come, stay positive.
Congrats to all the BFP - it bodes well for the rest of us! I had my FET on Thursday, both frosties thawed with no problems so I am now officially on the 2WW. Managed 3 days of bed rest and then I started to go abit mad, so I'm just going to get on with life as normal although I will take it much easier. What is meant to be is meant to be!
One question though, I had a natural FET, no meds etc. The clinic have told me my test date is the 16th Feb which is about 4 days after AF is officially due on my natural cycle. Is this right, or would I know I was pregnent once official AF date has been and gone? With no drugs to mess up my system surely AF should be on time? Bit confused about it!
I have updated my test date on the list

My beautiful angels!!
sounds like they're testing you 12 days after your transfer, which i think is standard. that's when my clinic tested me. it depends more on when the embryos were transferred than on when your period is due, as it takes a certain period of time for the embryos to put out hcg. hope this helps.
i have my hcg retest tomorrow morning. i'll write in when i know what's going on.
hope everyone on the 2ww is hanging in there ok!

I also, am still really bloated and I am over half way of my 2ww. I am also slighty sore but that may be due to them taking 25 eggs during ec. I am sure if you are otherwise feeling fine, it's nothing to worry about.
The 2ww is far far worse than I imagined. It's driving me bonkers. I am sooo desparate to do a hpt but I am too scared of the outcome. Will have to wait til Thursday.
Good luck to Sairad on Wednesday

Just a quick note to wish all those testers this week lots of BFP's! Best of luck, ladies!
Kate (and anyone else on bedrest!) I totally agree, this bedrest thing is driving me bonkers -- I am trying my best to stay still but am so restless and stir crazy I don't know what to do with myself. Poor DH is doing his best to keep me entertained though I had to send him off to the gym this afternoon so at least one of us would get some fresh air and exercise!
To all the 2ww-ers, here's wishing all of us a PMA in the coming days. Hang in there!

Saraid and Chellejaya,
Thank you so much for your words. They have both helped to reassure me. I was very anxious on Sat. I measured my somach and then again on Sun morning (when I stared to feel a little better) and I was 1 inch less in one night. And I still feel very bloated and uncomfortable too - so it just shows how bloated you can get!
I'm feeling a little disorientated the last few days to top it all - so not sure what that is all about. I'm hoping things will start to settle down soon. I'm back to work today, so I'm hoping that will be okay.
Good luck to you both on the 8th and 9th!

Thanks for all your kind words. Unfortunately due to my work situation I have a limited time period. My company gave me 3 months to try, but I have to get back to China to work, I run a department so its not so easy to take time out. The company have been good, but at the end of the day the work needs to get done.
I know I shouldn't expect it to work first time, but, like all of us, I was really hoping for the best. If I want to try again this year then I have to basically give up my job, which we rely on financially, and move back to the UK, but then who wants to employ a 38 year old women trying IVF?????
I would be interested to hear if any of you are facing similar dilemas.
On a positive note I have 7 frozen eggs, but I dont want to leave it too long before we try again because if we are unlucky a second time then I'll be 39 for the next EC.
Can anyone tell me if they will defrost all 7 eggs for the next try or just some of them? I'll be talking to my clinic today, but I'd be interested to see if its the same procedure with all clinics.

Chinamiff, how many they defrost depends on a few things.
1. How they are frozen - in 2s or 3s or 4s for example. My clinic used 2s.
2. What the normal procedure is for your clinic. Problems during thawing aren't uncommon so they'll want to defrost enough to allow for maybe 1 or 2 embies not making it.
3. They might also take the grade of the embies into consideration (although I don't this for sure it seems to make sense). That higher grade embies are more likely to survive thawing? Someone might know more about this than me.
For our 4 thaws, all with phials of 2 embies, 2 thaws went perfectly, one failed completely and one had a 50% survival rate.
Best bet? ask your clinic what their normal advice would be.

Game Over.
Dates: Aug 02 - May 06
Tries: 5 fresh + 4 frozen.
Results: 1 daughter, 2 m/c, 1 ectopic.
Thanks Debra
The clinic just confirmed they will thaw 2 and review according to the comments you have made. I need to wait until 3 clear periods have passed before we can try again.
Was your little girl the result of the 7th try? Did you do anything different during the treatment from any of the other tries? (bet everyone asks you that question).
How many times to try is a big question for us...maybe its better to leave the answer in the hands of circumstances. How did you decide?

I really feel for you and am sending you and DH lots of positive thoughts for all of this (IVF and career concerns!) to work out. I'm going through a lot of career questions as well. Like you, not sure how I feel about having to give up career for IVF but have taken a temporary leave for several months so that DH and I can be on the same continent (had made it difficult when TTC to say the least!) and we will have to wait and see what happens. Been feeling like I've become the stereotypical 30-something "career woman" who "puts off" family for job, etc. At least we are not alone!
After various tests, a lapro, and lots of research/second opinions, am now on my first cycle of IVF and on the 2ww. Career concerns still looming out there but trying to focus on keeping a PMA and sending happy vibes to the two embs inside....
It is good news that you have 7 frozen eggs (or is it embs?) as from what I understand that will expedite things the next time around -- is there any way that you could do another cycle in China? Or in say, HK or Singapore where the health care is perhaps stronger? A friend here in the UK flew back to NYC to have an egg donation/embryo transfer but then carried out the rest of her treatment here in the UK.
Wishing you all the best and keeping fingers crossed for you.

Hi China
I hope you dont mind, but I though I would give you my thoughts.....I dont share your situation but I suppose being unable to conceive naturally and being in our thirties is something we have in common!
For me, I've had to prioritise having a baby. This was advice that was given to me by a women a lot older without children. I really took it to heart. I resigned from my job (which had become too stressful for me anyway) and decided that I had to make space for ivf, otherwise I may never have children.
I changed my lifestyle, changed my diet, etc to give myself the best chance. I'm busy trying to plan a career change and its so difficult to factor the ivf process in....
I think ivf is so upredictable, so utterly demanding and difficult, that we have to have jobs/lives etc that can accomdate that, otherwise we run the risk of allowing other factors to determine whether we become parents or not. In your heart, I think you need to do some searching and see what it is that you really want.
From reading your post, it seems you have a lot of options available to you, which is great! And dont be afraid to 'bend the truth' with a new employer...they dont have to know you're doing ivf and it doesnt have to impact that heavily on your working schedule.
Good luck with your decisions and I hope you find a way forward that works for you!

This is my very first post... so I may not be up on all the abbreviations and such. Just be patient with me.
Just completed our first IVF (ET was on Jan 26th) and are toward the end of our 2ww. We test on February 8th. I had no idea how excruciating this wait would be. I was feeling really "weird" last week, very bloated and nauseated and was thinking "hmmm, is this what pregnancy feels like?!?!" Turns out I over stimulated and was experiencing OHSS. With IV fluids, it now seems to be under control. But, I had to start taking heparin to minimize the OHSS risks. I was also a little spotty today and yesterday, very minimal, but the first thing I thought was that AF was on her way. The dr has reassured me that OHSS can be a "good sign" if it happens after ET and that the spotting could be from implantation. I guess we'll find out on Wednesday.
Here's hoping for the best for all of you February testers!!
Thanks for listening,
Julie

They do reckon that any OHSS gets worse after ET, if implantation occurs. Sounds good !!!!
You are right, the 2ss is a killer. You're nearly there now. Only 2 more sleeps. If you want your test date adding to the Feb Test List either just say the word, or add yourself.
Good luck !!!
