Waitingkay - I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your son. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Lou- You look amazing. Sorry you got the stomach bug. Hope you start feeling better soon. I had some sort of stomach thing going this past weekend but no vomitting, just the rest of the stuff you had. ARGH.

Ryann- Those babies are so darn cute. I love Bella's hats.

Katieb123- So glad you got to hear the baby's heartbeat. It is very reassuring.

Riogrl-Ouch and weird your having such hard contractions with no cervix activity. With me my mild contractions were making huge cervical changes and when I went into the heavy labor and hard contractiosn I went from 6-10 in 20 minutes. It's amazing how fast things can change.

Baby_blu73- The boys are so adorable.

Blissful- That is so sad about those people losing their lives. I don't blame you for being scared for your husband and not wanting him to sail until after the baby is born.

Annashope-Wow only 17 days left. Hopefully time will fly by for you.

Leora- yay you have made it to the 24 week mark. You must be so happy :)

Bair- I was thinking of getting one of those as well. I suffer from back problems and not looking forward to my belly getting bigger.

Sorry if I missed anyone. I haven't had a chance to go back to far in posts.

AFM: Camping was ok, had a horrible headache Saturday evening and felt so sick and than horrible stomach cramps off and on all weekend than the diarhea hit. (sorry TMI) Than early Sunday AM we got a call that a friend had been killed in a car accident. He died instantly. I feel so bad for his family. He was only 36. This is a friend of the DF's since they were little kids. :(

Did you anyone have a lot of bleeding after a cervix check?

I had a cervix check by a nurse yesterday but no bleeding just cramping, today my OB did it and about 30 min later I had quite a bit of bleeding, I called the office and they said it is normal but it should go away but I am a little nervous!!! We might have her this Thursday, I could not get definite from OB cause he said the hospital is not letting him schedule anything this week but to show up at his office at 9 am on Thu having had nothing to eat!

I had some bleeding... Not enough to classify as " a lot" but enough for me to put on a mini-pad.

hi girls

here's a quick update the u/s this morning went well baby Paul now measures at 5lb which is good...(DH and I are both petite so we didn't expect a giant baby) we watched the baby practice breathing which was also really good and the cervix was 2cm so as of this morning I am done with all cervix checks and ultrasounds...its so exciting to think that the next time we see our precious baby he will be here :)

of course since we have left the u/s place I have had a bunch of contractions and lots of back pain and some contractions were even painful in spite of taking procardia so I am a bit scared but trying to lay on my side and drink lots of water and keep things calm as long as I can. My OB informed me that our file is already at L & D and if we were to go into labor they would not stop it so I am hoping we can make it another week or two but not sure.

Rio I am not sure about the bleeding after being checked....did they strip your membranes? are you dilated at all? How exciting that you may meet your little one in a couple of days :) Please keep us posted

Hi ladies. I'm freaking out just a little. I went out to meet a friend today for lunch and while walking toward the restaurant, I started texting my DH telling him I arrived safely (still trying to get used to the roads around here in TX). In hindsight, that was such a stupid thing for a clumsy person to do because I took a pretty heavy fall by hitting my foot against the curb of the sidewalk. I broke the fall by landing pretty hard on my knees and palms. I did not hit my abdomen in any way. This was the first time I was meeting this friend from a meetup group, so I did not want to make a big deal about it. She offered me disposable wipes to wipe down my hands, which I thought was awfully nice of of her. As we were eating our lunch, I felt my right knee which seemed to be a bit moist against my pants. Obviously, I was bleeding there but did not check the extent to the injury until I got back to my car. So anyway, I'm here in bed now unable to move my knee without excruciating pain. I can't even think about bending it; it hurts too much! I believe my patella is badly bruised. But more than anything, I am afraid for little Athena in my tummy. I have had no pain or bleeding, and I've felt her kick several times - nothing huge, but I can definitely feel her. Should I have called a doctor? I have my first OB appt with a Texan doctor tomorrow. I hope I can get her to do a quick U/S. I just don't want Athena under any sort of stress. Anyone an expert on falls during pregnancy? :?

Ashley - Sorry to hear about your fall, it sounds so painful. I'm not an expert, but I do know that was one of the questions they asked at the beginning of my induction. "Have you fallen in the last 30 days?" I'm sure all is fine, but my theory is better safe than sorry. I would call, because it sounds like you made pretty hard contact with the ground. Keep us posted, hon.

Anna - Glad to hear your final u/s went so well. Keep resting up to get those contractions under control. How exciting that Paul will be in your arms so soon!

Rio - How's the bleeding going? I hope it's slowed down a bit for your comfort's sake. I had some bleeding at my 37 week cervix check, but the midwife DID strip my membranes... it subsided within a 24 hours and became some brownish spotting. I can't wait to see how your Thursday visit goes!

Kat - How awful! I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I hope your DF is holding up ok, though I could understand if not. Hope your tummy feels better soon.

Lou - Sorry about your tummy bug. Hope you get to feeling like yourself again soon! :D

Katie - Congrats on the hearing the heartbeat! I love the names you have picked out! I'm a big fan of the way you decided to spell Jakob. Cute!

Ashley- I am clueless as a first time Mom, but I would call my after hours number if I were in your shoes and just ask. It can't hurt and it will put your mind at ease. So sorry about the fall! I am sure its frightening, but its also great you can feel Athena.

Lou- bummer on the bug but glad it was temporary.

Kat- so sorry about your friend. That is far too young... very sad.

Baby blu- I love that pic at the softball game!

Thank you Stephanie and Bliss for your feedback! I took your advice and called. The on-call doctor said that since I did not hit my abdomen in any way, and I'm not bleeding or contracting, I should be okay until my routine appt tomorrow. If it really worried me, I could go to L&D and get it checked, but she didn't think it sounded like I harmed the baby in any way. She asked for me to call the doctor's office promptly at 9 AM to add on a sonogram to look at the baby and the placenta to ensure everything is fine. My appointment is at 9:10 itself, so I'll see if I can get that added on while I'm already there. Fingers crossed that everything is okay!

lost my entire post :( ARGH!

Bleeding is better now, still can't decide on name! Car seats installed now! I really hope Thursday morning it is!

Lou hope you feel better!

Annas - great news on Paul! I am still first ;)

Babyblue - no rupturing membranes for us, loved the pic!!!

Lauren - come back to tell us about BFP!

Bliss - can't blame you for being scared, I would keep DH home too!

Sweetpea - so sorry about your friend and that you got sick, I hope you feel better

Katie - great names, very exciting!

Hope - the baby should be very protected, I hope you are ok, I didn't fall but I had a 2.5 yo jump on my belly several times and two german shepherds do the same and baby is very protected, as long as nothing got hit you should be 100% fine, even if you got bumped in the tummy you are most likely totally fine!

Rio- Glad the car seat is installed and you are ready to go. You will definitely be next to meet your little one!!! As for the name you could just wait until she gets here and see if she looks more like one than the other? SO exciting that you could possibly meet her tomorrow!!!

Ashley- Glad they think everything is ok but that they are still going to do an US just to be safe. Hope your apt goes well- keep us posted. And take good care of that knee…it sounded pretty bad.

Alisa- Cant wait to hear how things go at your NT scan tomorrow. I too feel like pregnancy is still a waiting game. Waiting for apts, waiting to hit milestones, waiting to be over the “all day sickness”…etc. Just glad things are going well for you so far.

Stephanie- Loved the pic of the boys at the game. I wish I could go outside and hang out but here we’ve had a heat advisory and the temps are in the high 90s even though it says that it feels like its 110-115 some days- blah. Wayyy too hot for me.

Anna- Glad Paul is already measuring 5 lbs and that you got to see him practicing his breathing. Sounds like your cervix is holding out for now which is great. Sorry to hear about all the contractions and back pain but hopefully your feeling a little better now. Which brand of maternity support belt did you have? I know some are bigger and bulkier than others so I was hoping to get as much support as I can from a smaller one.

Kat- I have had back problems since I was 17 so I had a feeling pregnancy wouldn’t make it feel any better. I have some disc degeneration and have had cortisone injections but not in the past year+. My OB suggested the support brace and said it really does help those muscles relax some. So sorry to hear about your friend.

Lou- Sorry to hear you had the stomach bug. Hopefully you are on the road to recovery and feeling much better today.

Katie- Congrats on hearing your little ones heartbeat!!! Love both of the names you all have picked out though but hoping for your sake its another baby girl.

AFM- Had my regular OB apt yesterday…not very exciting at all. Urine test, BP, and of course weight and then the MD used the fetal Doppler to check in on the girls. Ive apparently gained about 8+ lbs all together, which I guess isn’t bad since ill be 18 weeks tomorrow. The doctor gave me a prescription for physical therapy pregnancy massages, and said that it could be covered by insurance if I use the prescription to do it. Fine with me…Guess Ill have to call and see if its covered. Other than that nothing too exciting with me, just getting a little bigger every day. The girls are starting to move more and more which is nice and reassuring.

Blair...I'm so glad everything is moving right along for you and that both girls are doing well! That sounds so nice to get a prescription for massages...I wish I had asked for that one! Isn't it such a crazy feeling when they start moving?

Ashley..I'm so sorry about your fall-sounds very painful. I hope you get the reassurance you need at your appt today...and rest that knee! On a happier note-I'm glad you're reaching out and meeting people in your new home town!

Anna...Yay for Paul reaching 5lbs! That was the most reassuring weight that the twins hit! I sure hope he stays put for a another week or two and grows, grows, grows!

Rio...EEEEEEK! I can't believe you may be meeting your little girl tomorrow! That is so exciting! I can't wait to see your post letting us know! I never bled after a cervix check but DID end up in L&D with lots of contractions. I hope you're feeling well!

Kat...I'm sorry camping didn't quite go as planned with you getting sick. I'm also so sorry to her about DF's friend. That is such a terrible thing to go through. Did he have a wife or kids?

Lou...I hope you';re feeling better! Your bump pic is so cute! I love how you pose for them :) As for weight gain I'd say you're just fine. I ended up gaining 30lbs with the twins.

Katie....YAY for hearing babies' heartbeat! That is so amazing! And I love your name choices. If Isabella were to be anything else she was going to be Olivia!

Stephanie...Those boys are so darn handsome!

Bliss....I live in Chicago and saw that story on the news. What a terrible accident. I'm so sorry it has you worried about DH now. I wouldn't blame you at all if you made him quit!

Lauren...Thanks for crashing! I didn't give up and am now actually getting 8oz each time I pump!

Kay...I hope you and DH are finding comfort in eachother-please know you can find comfort from us any time you need it as well. I am keeping you both in my prayers.

mamaboo...I hope your procedure went well! Let us know when you can!

AFM...I can't believe the twins are 1 week old already! They haven't had any apneas, decels or bradys since Sunday, so the neonatologist thinks they may be released this Sunday. They have so much to do in order for that to happen so I hope they stay strong enough! They need to gain weight (they had their first gain last night-Bell is 5lbs5oz and Dylan is 5lbs 9oz), they have to have no more episodes, they have to continue to take all their food by mouth (otherwise the feeding tubes go back in!), and they have to pass the carseat test. That's a lot for those little guys! They have been doing awesome with their feedings. In the NICU they have 30 minutes to finish a feeding and it used to really get down to those last seconds for them to finish their minimum amount. They are now both at 45cc's and when it's breast milk they finish it really quickly. When it's formula they take a little longer, but still don't take the full 30 minutes. Except my little Bell at her 8pm feeding was being a little lazy!

The NICU closes for doctor rounds from 8am-11am so I am there from 11am-4pm. I come home and feed the dogs and cook dinner. DH gets home from work and we eat and head over there from 6pm-10pm. We come home, rest on the couch for a bit and go to bed. Then it starts over the next day! I can't wait to have them home with me :)

I feel great though. If there's a silver lining to having your baby in the NICU it would be the fact that I have had a chance to heal and rest.

Thanks for all your kind words on my babies...I think they are pretty awesome :) It's kind of nice because the NICU nurses are actually signing up to be able to take care of them on their shifts. It's nice to know they are loved even when I am not there!

Rio - So exciting that you may be having your little one tomorrow!! Can't wait for your next update (and pics too!)

Ryann - Excellent news that Bella & Dylan may be home as early as Sunday! I hope they pass all of those necessary milestones and get their NICU walking papers. :D

Annashope - So glad to hear you've made it to the point of no more cervix checks, woo-hoo girl!!

Stephanie - Loved the pics of the boys at the softball game. So cute!!

Ashley - Hope your knee starts feeling better. That sounded terribly painful, OUCH!

EOE - Love reading everyone's updates and hope all is well!

AFM, things are going well here but I find I've got very little time to write. :) Maribel turned 2 weeks old yesterday (which seems amazing to me.) When she went to the pediatrician last Wednesday she had only gained 1 oz since her discharge weight was taken at the hospital, so we went back today for another weight check. She only gained 3 oz in a week which is below what we wanted to see. She's breastfeeding frequently (every 2-3 hours during the day and 3-4 hours at night) and when I pump I get decent amounts, so they think that my breastmilk may just not have enough calories. For now then I'll breastfeed for 10-15 minutes at each feeding and then offer her some formula afterwards so she still gets the benefits of breastmilk but gets the extra calories from the formula. Hoping next Thursday's weigh-in shows a nice increase. Anyways, here are a couple pics of Maribel at 2 weeks old.

Oh Amanda! Maribel is just beautiful! Doesn't time fly when you're having the time of your life?!

Ryann - Awesome news about your babes! How great that you get to spend so much time with them everyday.

Blair - We're in that awful heatwave, too. It's like hell (literally) during the day! DH's games are in the evening so it's "cooled" down some. The boys love being outside. Since my older kids both have February birthdays, I'm enjoying being able to take them outside myself.
