Hello Girls-

Just have a few minutes while dinner is in the oven and DH is feeding Aubrey. Well Aubrey is just getting over an ear infection... poor little thing. I never would have known she had an ear infection - however I took her to the doctor this past weekend because she was very stuffy and I wanted to see if her doctor would give me something for her since we're going away this coming weekend (heading to East Lansing, MI for a college football game). They gave her amoxicllin and so far so good....

Kim- the little ones look so cute... I just saw their pics on photobucket.

Racheal- very cute family pic... handsome little boys you have!

Well the oven is beeping so I have to run.. more later!

Tasha

hi there girls... we are ok... still tired.. Gavin is still only at 3-4 hour sleep streches on a good night.. the last few have been every couple of hours... i'm hoping that it's just more teeth and he'll be better in a few... i know that they said with the GRED that he'll want to feed smaller but more often.. but gosh, i'd like to sleep again.. my 3YO is also going through a scared phase... and is up in the night... But other then that/// Gavin is doing good, and rolling around from one side of the room to the other.... he's also gotten up on all 4's a couple of times... didn't go anywhere just plopped back down on his belly....

tasha- sorry to hear that Aubrey has a EI... yuck... my 3YO had them all the time... hopfully it clears up fast, and you'll be good for the weekend away.. Aubreys dress sounds cute... i get to pick out plain old boy cloths... well have a great trip, and travel safe...

kim- good to hear that your two are getting better... as for naps... the only thing i can say is to try and push them off a few minutes a day, and hopfully it will happen... Gavin takes a little (20min) nap in the am, then a longer one mid day and another little 20 minuter in the evening... that is on the days that he is cooperating... we are still a work in progress.. he is also up a lot at night... my other two fell into the 2x day nap at about 6 1/2-7 months...

rachael- sorry that makayla did not want to smile... i'm sure that she was still a cutie pie... it is a nice family picture... we are going to do that for christmas... i do not get to pick out a fancy dress... boys cloths are boring... and my kids do not like to get dressed up... we are more casual people... so i think that we are just going to do a casual photo... my kids are happy in jeans and tees....maybe i'll get a couple of sweaters... christmas is right around the corner... i love my boys ages, as you can just see the wonder and excitement in their eyes... hopfully my 6YO will not sneek down again this year..

well, i hope that everyone is well, and take care

Hey Colleen--glad to hear from you! Sorry that Gavin's still the night owl. I hope he settles for you soon. How fun that he's gettingup on all 4s! He'll be moving around soon enough, right?

The nap thing is working itself out, kindof. Now that we've separated them in their cribs, they're definitely napping better. We're starting to see almost a 2 hour nap in the morning. Then they take about a 40 minute nap in the early afernoon. Sometimes another 40 minute nap around 3, and then, for some crazy reason, they do another 2 hour around 5? I'd like to see that 2 hour nap happen a little earlier, so it doesn't mess with bedtime. They're still sleeping pretty well at night, but they're waking a little earlier in the morning. They used to wake up around 7. Now it's mor like 6:15 or 6:30. I'm not trying to push anything too hard. But, the longer they nap (and less frequently), then we can do more outings and I can get more done around the house.

Tasha--sorry to hear about the ear infection. Hope it clears soon and have fun at the football game! I'll have my eyes peeled to the TV for the OSU/Michigan game.

Babies are napping, so I'm off to exercise and get some stuff done before work!

Hey gals...I'm trying to change my ticker. I've never used lilypie before, but for some reason it won't actually show my ticker. Any ideas?

Colleen - I will be giving Makayla the flu shot at her six month because both my oldest son and I have asthma. The less we get sick, the better everyone is. My youngest son had his first shot at six months and had no added side effects. I also had a flue shot while I was pregnant because I was so very sick early in the pregnancy and had major breathing issues. I do not believe there are any major possible side effects from the flu shot though. Moreover, if you want the best possible prevention of the flu, all family members must have the shot not just a few. My DH refuses every year and when he gets sick, it is bad. I am almost guaranteed to catch it if he does because individual's bodies can mutate the virus and boom I catch it! I hope Gavin gives you a break tonight!

Kim - I love the ticker! I hope the babies are doing well. I must say they are beautiful! I love this stage. They are discovering things everyday and their eyes just light up with happiness. There will never be another time when they are so excited about cheap, simple things like aluminum foil or pots and spoons!

Tasha - I am glad you like the picture. I loved our pics and we got quite a few of them. I was surprised to get such nice pictures of the boys. They are so hard to get good ones out of, but my girlfriend did a great job. We will do more in the spring.

Angellica - I a thrilled to hear from you. I am glad Roman is doing well. It sounds like you are busy as usual. Hope to hear from you again soon.

Well, Makayla's first campout was cancelled. I hurt my back on Tuesday (twice) and the DR was worried he would have to do surgery. I did exactly what they told me. Two days of bed rest mixed with therapy, I am finally clear from surgery. It looks like this time I will heal if I am careful. It turns out I have two problems. One is a genetic degeneration of the disks and the other is a compress and bulging disk. The location is the last vertebrae before the butt bone (I am not sure the spelling of its name). This means any and all movement affects the disk. Therefore, I have to let the swelling go down, then we will do decompression therapy and major exercising to build up other muscles to compensate for my bad disk. I am really hoping this all works! In the meantime, I am praying I will have the ability to go to Grandma's for Thanksgiving on Wednesday! If I do not, Grandma will be mad. I missed it last year because I was pregnant and sick. Anyway, DH and YDS are going camping near San Antonio and they will be exploring a cave nearby. They are going to have so much fun, and I have to stay put. Oh well, at least ODS and Makayla are here to keep me company.

Question - I have been having trouble-getting Makayla to eat less often. She is still taking the reflux meds, but they are not helping that much. She nurses every hour or so during the day and she is chunky. I know she is not starving, but does she really need to eat that often when she eats two meals of food a day as well?

Colleen, I can understand your query about the flu shot. I get really nervous about all these vaccines. I already got my flu shot, and my DH is like Racheal's--he refuses. All I know is it SUCKS to have two babies with a cold, so the flu is completely unimaginable to me....I'm assuming I'll go with the shot as scheduled. Unless anyone knows anything I should????

Racheal--so sorry to hear about your back! Yikes! That's got to make it hard to pick up Makayla. I know my own back has been sore. Of course, lifting two babies at once can't help, right? One thing is for sure....I am very consistent at making sure I really keep myself stretched out---my hamstrings tend to get really tight, which affects my back--so I have to stretch well every day. So, take it from me, and really make sure you take care of your own body, or else you'll be useless to everyone else. I hope you feel better soon! THank goodness you don't have to have surgery! Oh, is it really okay for me to give the babies tin foil to play with? They seem to put everything in their mouths, and I guess I get nervous....what's okay and what's not? (Of course, besides small choking hazards)

As for Makayla's grazing habits, I really can't be of much help. We're eating every 3-4 hours, and we're not on solids yet. Our doc is adamant about waiting until 6 months. Not sure why, but I figure he must know something I don't. Maybe he just knows I'll have my hands full with baby food flying everywhere? Good luck, though. I can't even imagine feeding that often! :?

hi there girls.. we are doing good... gavin is still up every 3 hours or so during the night, and not taking a bottle or cup (rachael-i'm going to try what you said starting today)

kim- I think that DH's must have a code or something because mine will not do the flu shot either... they even offer it at work because he works at a school...i tell him every year that i'm not going to mother and tend to him if he gets the flu, because it was his choice... Gavin likes to play with so many things... other then little things, let them expore the different textures and the different sounds things make... gavin loves to beat things on the floor, now that he's sitting better.. he gets hitting a spoon or somthing on the floor so hard he'll knock himself over.... and usually lands on his face (poor kid)... he like the non-toy things more then the actual toys.... a spoon and metal mixing bowl... his favorate while sitting in his high chair.... i do not know if you have your little ones sitting in a high chair, i know that they are not any foods, but they might just like to sit in there with you and your DH and play with a spoon and little bowl... it might make introducing food later easier on you.. it is also easier for me to get dinner ready and he is close and ocupied..

rachael- i'm glad to hear that you back is on the mend... be careful.. i too have the genetic degeneration... and spondilathesis (how ever it's spelled) they tell me that my back is that of a 60 year old woman.. i have gone to a chiropractor almost weekly, and it seems to keep it at bay... take care of your back, and work on your core muscles...sorry that you can not go camping, but hopfully a trip to grandmas will be good.. is grandma far away?? we are goign to DH's parents house for thanksgiving, and then i'm going shopping on friday!!!
as for getting her not to eat as often, my doc told me to push it off... he was the exact same way... i would push it off by doing any thing i could .... giving him a toy, walking around, playing with the water out of the faucet (he loves the water)... anything untill he couldn't take it any longer... we are at about every 2 1/2-3 hours now, sometimes even a bit longer.. it took a couple of weeks to get here, but it has made a world of difference... i also found that holding him facing out was better because he wasn't close to the milk source.. and to let you know that doing it was very difficult and took a lot of hands on time and walking around and listening to him cry a bit... but it was worth it...

tasha- hope that your trip went well, let us know

take care everyone

hey girls,

sorry i haven't checked in for a while. Things have been busy...just got over DD croup and then DH and me ended up with sickness bug! I have also been in hospital for treatment following an abnormal smear which was found just over a year ago when the IVf was happening. Where has that year gone!

Colleen- Glad that Gavin has been a bit more settled. On the issue of not taking a bottle or cup I had trouble with DD whch is why I started Joshua on a bottle earlier! We DD I ended up using a special teat and bottle made by 'MAM'. It is shaped differently so that they can almost latch onto it. I also had to go to a friends house and ask her to feed DD(my husband and I had both tried without success!) Once she took that we were fine, but it took weeks of trying a couple of times a day. Hope you manage to sort something soon

Rachel- Sorry to hear about your back and missing the camping trip. Take care of yourself. DH has this problem as well and had surgery twice in our first year of marriage. He has been better since but will always be a problem. Glad you managed to escape any surgery.

Angellica- Good to hear from you and glad that all is well.

Apart from the germs we are all well. Joshua is doing great and is such a settled baby (very different from DD as a baby!) He has 5 feeds a day 3 1/2-4 hourly. He sleeps through most nights til about 7am. I can't believe he is already 14 weeks and really is no longer a little baby altho he is still only 11ib 7oz.

Will try and check in again soon. Take care

caseyP--sorry to hear about the croop! yuck. I hope you're all recovered and doing better. Joshua sounds like he's doing great! I'm glad he's sleepign so well for you. THat makes such the difference if you can get some sleep, right?

Colleen--I hope you're able to go shopping today! I didn't even consider it. I actually got to sleep in today. DH took care of the kids this morning. Although, he got it easier than I usually do. The babies usually wake up around 6:30 or so. But, they slept in til almost 7:30 today. I guess they were wiped out by all of yesterday's company and fun! As for toys, thanks for the tip. The babies love playing/chewing on their spoons. They're not quite coordinated enough to hit their spoons onto any bowls yet, but they do like to try and chew on the edge of the bowls...go figure! We're not sitting up yet, so things might change then. As for the high chair, we haven't put them up yet, because of lack of space! Our house is already overwhelmed right now with playgyms, exersaucers, jumparoos, etc. I have NO idea how I"m going to fit anything else in! :? I did, thank God, think ahead, and instead of 2 high chairs, we got one chair and one "grow with me" booster seat. So, that'll save us a little room. I might just end up doing 2 booster seats. We'll see.

HOpe you all had a great THanksgiving...have a nice weekend!

Hello Girls-

Long time no talk... sorry I have been MIA for a few weeks. Work has been crazy (I'm planning our work X-Mas party) and our nights have been just as crazy. Aubrey is not sleeping through the night anymore - she's been waking up once or twice a night for the last 3 weeks. She wakes up screaming.... most of the time she is starving, but other times she just cries. I'm thinking we're getting close to our teeth coming in... hopefully she settles back into her schedule soon. We go for our 6 month checkup this Saturday - we have decided to have her get her flu shot. DH got his flu shot already and I'm going for mine next week... hopefully we'll all be germ free this winter. We're also getting ready for X-Mas and our vacation to Palm Springs, CA.

I hope everyone is doing well... sorry I have to run it's bath night!

Oh, yikes, TAsha! So sorry to hear about the wake ups! I hope that passes right by our house... I'm sure teeth are headed your way. I know mine are drooling like nutz right now and they can be fussier at times. Is Aubrey eating solid foods? Could it be from that? I've heard that some babies can have digestive troubles with the solids. Good luck. I hope these wake ups end really soon.....

quick question gals...how long should my babies be able to keep using the exersaucer? I bought it used at the twin sale here in town, and I don't have the directions. What about the exercise mat/gym? My SIL wants to borrow my stuff (her baby is due in January), and I'm more than willing to loan to her, but I have NO IdEA when I'll be done with this stuff?
