I think the hormones are getting to me...read the steroid insert and said it causes dementia, depression, abdominal protrusion, weight gain, inability to metabolize carbs, fluid retention, insomnia, etc. So I'm fat, can't sleep, and acting crazy. DH asked what he could do to help and I told him to grow some healthy sperm. Let's add to the steroid list of side affects turns you into a royal b****.

Paige... any news on the embies.
Nicky ... I am having twinges in the middle of my belly, below belly button. Also no sore boobs what so ever, but I have taken this as a crap sign as I never get sore boobs anyway and thought it might be different if I was pg. But then everything feels crap at the moment. really negative. This 2ww is just such limbo land. can't enjoy myself .. can't drink, swim, go to gym, sun bathe, relax in the bath etc etc. Can't go shopping becuae I'm skint. Can't have sex (not that dp will want to anyway because I am being really so miserable).
I suppose getting out of housework is the only plus. Only 2 more sleeps to go.
I feel like doing another test, but getting a negative test yesterday has made me really down, although I know that testing 4 days early is stupid and what did I expect.
Good luck to you all ...... I want you all to push up the ivf positive statistics.

Paige,

If it makes you feel any better, the last time around when I did my first IVF, they had me do a 5 day transfer but, on Day 5, my embies were only at a Day 4 Level of development (they said that was ok and transferred them anyway but I think it indicates a lower chance of success). The Dr. doing my transfer (who is actually the founder of the clinic) actually told me that he strongly prefers Day 3 transfers and didn't know who made the decision to take them to Day 5 (as you can imagine I was quite annoyed as I saw it being the result of dealing with different Dr.'s there all the time). He believes that some embryos just don't do well in an artificial solution whereas they fare very well in a natural environment. Anyway, my point is that I would suggest just going with what your Dr. recommends and doing the 3 day transfer. Just what I would do.....not that you asked!

Hope everyone else is doing ok today.

Hi ladies!
I hope you had a nice weekend!

Paige, I don't think it matters which eggs were ICSI or which weren't it's the best quality they're looking for. Hopefully you'll have too many to choose from!
After our last IVF we had 7 embryos left and they wanted to see if any went to blast before freezing, I thought at least a few would so I wasn't concerned, well none did, when then called to tell me, I cried right on the phone..ugh. They didn't even give me the option to freeze some at day 2. They also told me that embryos develop better inside the uterus.
This time we froze some at day 2 and some at blast stage.

Sophie-Jane I hear ya, feels like we can't have any fun. Except eating, I've been doing plenty of that

Did anyone not take a steroid? I purposely didn't take it this time. I know bad patient. I asked my doctor why I was taking it, and are there any studies? She said no but since they always prescribe it, best to stay with what works. If this doesn't work, I'll take it next time.

Nickie, I have no symptoms either and I'm having a little spotting. Sorry to be down but I really think it's going to be - for me.

Happy Monday!!

All:

Had my day 3 transfer today. It was not a text book experience for the Dr. he said that it was the most difficult transfer he'd ever done, as he had to threat the tube in....and supposedly I'm the shape of a horseshoe? It took him an hour to get it in.
Transferred in 3 embies...two 8 cell and one 7 cell. My Mom came in to help with my 4 year old so I can take it easy...she's so awesome. I'm worried that if I sneeze an egg is going to come flying out. I've spent the whole day with my legs crossed! Does the paranoia leave? My pg test is on 8/6.

Paige,

No, the paranoia does not leave. My clinic assured me that the embies cannot "fall out". But I had to worry the whole time, anyway. Hope you have a better time of it :)

Hiya Paige ... I can asure you, I'm afraid you will be paranoid for the whole 2 weeks. I know exactly what you mean about sneezing... when I had my last ET, I had a bit of a tickly cough and I was convinced I was going to do some damage ...., but if you think about it logically (and I know nothing's logical when on 2ww), it's impossible...

It sounds like you had a horrible ET ... an hour ! .. good God ...You take it real easy now for a good few days.

Sandra & Alicia:

Thanks! As I'm typing my legs are crossed so nothing can fall out ha ha. I'm having some cramping, but I think that is due to the transfer being so difficult. The Dr. said to expect some spotting because of the procedure being so difficult.
I go to an office where it is just one Dr., I see him or the same couple of nurses and techs every time. So it's nice to have personalized service.
I'm craving beer and sushi, imagine that...wanting everything you can't have.

Hiya girls

Paige your shaped like a horse shoe if by that u mean your cervix faces the wrong way mmmm i have the same thing when i had my dye xray ages ago they had a load of trouble getting the tube thing in me then think i may have the same problem as you had when my ET comes round ah well i wasnt expecting this to be an easy ride lol
you take it easy on your 2ww shall be thinking of you and waiting to hear good news.

Today i had my first scan to see if the buserelin had worked and whether i could start my injections but as always with me things dont go to plan the drugs have not worked and my lining is to thick i have a cyst on my right ovary this is why the drugs havent worked but the cyst was caused by the drugs and from my last cycle i now have to take norethisterone ( think i spelt that right anyway you will know what i mean ) for the next 7 days so i have a bleed i go back on the 10th august and im keeping my fingers crossed that all will be as it should be then, it has pee'ed me off rather as i wanted this all over as quick as possible now it has added an extra 2 weeks to the whole icsi thing i just hope the rest runs smoothly but knowing me it wont, they are also now telling me i cant choose to have local anesthetic as its still being trialed and that i have to enter the trial i really reaaly do not want sedation but the nurse was really lovely about it and they are going to discuss it more with me on the 10th all being well.

anyway girls im off to my bed now was up to early this morning and has been a long stress filled day
lots of love to you all

Angela:

Sorry you didn't get the "go ahead" news you were hoping for. It's never easy is it? So your cervix is going the opposite way, and my uterus tips 90% backwards, we're quite a pair.
I hope that your new regime gets everything cleared up so you have the go ahead in 2 weeks. Everyone I know who has been through this process says it's a total blur now, but it feels like forever at this point.

Hang in There!

Angela,

Sorry to hear this will take longer than you hoped. It seems so danged long even when all does go on schedule.

Ang

Oh, how frustrating ... I know you must be raring to get started on the stims.. Still, better to make sure you've got the perfect conditions to begin with and if 2 extra weeks is all it takes, it must be well worth it in the long run.

Try to chill (! - impossible) for now.

Paige,
No the paranoia doesn't leave. Sorry! How are you feeling?
After my first transfer I had to go to the bathroom so bad and I felt like embies were going to come right out. The nurse reassured me that the uterus is like a tight sandwich and there is no way that they can come out.

Angela, sorry to hear that you can't get started, it's so frustrating!! Hopefully you can get going on the 10th!! Do you know if buserelin is similar to Lupron? I was on that with birth control pills and that really quieted my ovaries down before we started the stims.

Found out that my progesterone dropped down to 22, so they added an additional dose each night. Hope it stays up... :?
Also having some spotting, but this is supposed to be normal.

Tracie, Niki, Sophie-Jane how are you doing?

Hope:

Doing well, still having some cramping. I think I'll lay low for another day.
What is your Progesterone level supposed to be? Seriously call your Dr. and ask for an EMLA prescription. You rub it on your skin 1/2 hr before your shot and you won't feel it. Not even a prick. The EMLA cannot get air the 1/2 hour it's on your skin so I masking tape saran wrap on it ha ha. But I think there are bandages you can buy that do the same thing.
Good luck to you! Spotting is totally normal. Don't freak out about it.
