Guess I should post in this thread now a we are now past the 27 week stage.

Had a 28 week scan last week which just about showed 2 babies (Its getting very crowded in there & the sonographer had difficulty in getting all the measurements she needed).

Looks like both babies are females & weigh 2lb 6ozs & 2lb 8ozs respectively which puts them a few ounces over a singleton baby at this stage according to the books.

Both are fine with strong heartbeats and are now kicking like mad - there are times when my bump looks like something out of that scene in Alien.

I'm feeling very tired these days, have horrible swollen ankles and suffer from dreadful heartburn but otherwise am really enjoying being pregnant.

Because of my age & the fact that I'm expecting twins I've been signed off work until I go on maternity leave. My boss has been great about it & we've come to the agreement that I'll do a little bit of work from home over the next 4 weeks plus take a weeks holiday so as not to compromise my maternity leave. I'm allowed to have 2 outings a week (excluding antenatal appointments)

If I'm a good girl, keep my feet up & rest over this period we should get past the 36 week stage.

Caroline, like you we've been doing some window shopping & have narrowed it down to a choice of 2 double buggies and 2 car seats. John Lewis say that if we order them in advance they can store them for us until we want them - obviously they're geared up to deal with superstitious mums-to-be!

I'm off for one of my two outings this week - a full pregnancy massage :D

Good luck to all those in the 3rd tri.

Love

I hate to complain about being pregnant given all the trouble to get here, but the heartburn is a real killer.

I was advised by the midwife to avoid saturated fats, eat little and often and try to stay sitting up for a least one hour after eating.

Unfortunately, I am addicated to chocolate and biscuits, I only understand the word 'often' when it comes to food (the 'little' part gets lost in translation) and all I can do after eating is undo my trousers and lay down - no wonder I have heartburn!

I am due for another scan at 32 weeks and plan to give up work on 31st October - hope my maternity work clothes last that long!

I found baby carrots to help a little with the heartburn but I remember how unpleasant it was. Have you tried peppermint tea (take a flask to bed for the midnight attacks?). The other thing that seemed to help were 'chalky' indigestion tablets. I had a pharmacist confirm which I could take during pgy and then felt free to chew when necessary, it worked!

Good luck. It's SO exciting to read of your pregnancies!

Hi, I'm not quite ready for this thread yet, but just wanted to say that I had heartburn in my last pg, and I found if I ate cereal for breakfast and had at least 2 other glasses of milk per day the heartburn stayed away. Apparently the milk reduces the acidity in your stomach or something. Dont know if it works for everyone but its worth a try!
Good luck everyone and I'll see you over here soon!

Just thought I would bring this back up -

I hope that you are all ok and coping as you come to the end of your pregnancies.

Good luck with the new arrivals - not long for some of you, and I can't wait to hear how you're all getting on.

Big hugs

Has anyone heard how Caroline (M) is? She was due around 28 October so I was wondering if there had been any news.

Thinking of you all.

Hello Ladies!

Good to hear from those in the 3rd as well as those almost here! Hope things are going well for all of you!

We had our baby shower(s) last week and we recieved so many wonderful things for the baby. Everyone has been so thoughtful and generous. It 's hard to believe we are 1 month away from our due date as of tomorrow. We just finished our last childbirth class tonight and we really learned a great deal to help us prepare.

I have one more checkup this week and then start going weekly starting next week. They will be hooking me up to the fetal monitor each visit going forward as I am 35 and it's routine at my age to make sure the baby's activity level is good. I feel plenty of movement anyways which is very reassuring.

Well ladies, God bless all of you in the weeks ahead. Talk to you soon.

I am now ready to enter the third trimester. How exciting it is to be here. We are continuing with our childbirth classes and getting a tour of the hospital next week. It is all becoming so real and I cannot wait to meet our bundle of joy.

Minnow -
Congrats on hitting 30 weeks! I am almost there - two weeks away. Good point on the salmon. . .Omega 3. They also say pomegranite juice is great for baby brain development.

Take care everyone and best of luck to you as you approach the final weeks.

hi Gavin,
welcome to the third trimester - we're on the home run now! i certainly think that at 26 weeks, we can safely say we are carrying a baby rather than a fetus and the chances of survival if born now increase with every week. i am so grateful for every week which at the moment seems to be whizzing by now.

the baby is still moving around plenty (mostly after i've woken up and then again before i go to sleep) but i can already feel that there is much less room in there for the poor thing. i really am starting to feel the weight of carrying a baby now as my back aches a lot first thing in the morning and last thing at night. my bump is still very neat and in the last week i have had so many people confidently tell me that means it is definitely a girl/boy!! i am still unbelievably vomitting 3 or 4 times a week which is as horrid as ever but i am so used to it by this stage..

my biggest source of happinness is that we have found a lovely house to rent in a gorgeous village near Saffron Walden so i can at last order some baby things and envisage where the little thing will sleep. it is just the biggest relief!! we start to move in three weeks and will do it gradually. the thought of unpacking boxes at 35 weeks is not quite what i had in mind!!

how is everyone getting on with buying all their gear? any top tips would be gratefully received. i think we have chosen our buggy, but there is so much other stuff to get isn't there? i've got a trip out with a fellow pregnant girlfriend tomorrow so i shall no doubt be returning with many bags!

i am due to start my antenatal classes next week and that will be great. at the moment the birth isnt terrifying me too much but maybe i'm in denial!

love to all, take care and hope the aches and pains arent too bad.

Hi everyone

Gavin and Gen - Welcome to the 3rd trimester! I know what you mean about disagreeing on names. DH didnt like any that I liked, except we have agreed on Jenna Grace for a girl. Might change our minds though like you have! I guess we wont know for definate until our babies are born.

Minnow - Im glad you now have a house to settle in and can start planning. Im still a bit hesitant on buying baby things at the moment! Im concentrating on getting my xmas shopping out of the way first! Its the most organised Ive been for xmas this year!

Take care everyone
