Update

Post by melliot7 »

Had tests done yesterday. I have ovulated for this month. So I started my Lupron this morning. Now just waiting for AF to show up. I expect it around the 27th or 28th of March. So just about one week.

What does DR mean?

I am just glad to be doing something now.

AF with a vengance

Post by Danie454 »

I guess AF was listening to what I said on the board the other day. She came and I think she brought all the cousins as well. I have never had a period this heavy. I guess thats a good sign. Just doing some womb cleaning for the possible new guests.

I have to share a funny story with you all. This morning ( its 9:46 am on Monday 3-20 here in US) I went to the doctor to have the baseline US done. I am going to a teaching school to have this done but I was actually being seen by the director. I guess he feels that he can let the students do the Ultrasounds. The doctor who came in the do the ultrasound looked like a kid just out of Highschool if that. Not that I am that old 33.. but he really looked like he was 18 at best. A nice female doctor who I can only imagine was training him came along too. She sat and interviewed me for a few moments and then he started to do the vaginal ultrasound. He couldn't find my ovarys...... 5 minutes later.. He couldn't find my ovarys... okay now normally I am very patient with people. But after all the lupron and stress.. I kinda snapped...

I started asking questions like.. Are you sure my ovarys didn't come out during my peroid? it was very heavy.. I saw a lot of stuff..

Then I asked him if he wanted me to do it.. And I started saying things like a little to the left.. up a bit.. hehe..

Finally the last straw... I told him that my husbands finished up much quicker then this... LOL

Then the female doctor said okay what ever his name was.. You can get up now.. She sat down and low and behold.. There they were.. Right there all along. Now that I am home.. I kinda feel a little guilty for being mean about it. Although I said everything as jokingly as possible. He was really in there for no less then 15 minutes... I guess I could blame it on the lupron..

On an up note.. I will get a call in a few hours telling me if I am going to start my gonal f today or not...

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Danielle :D

Happy Monday ladies! Hope everyone had a nice weekend and survived St. Pat's day! I started stimms on Saturday and was surprised at how much the injection burned. The needle is the same as the Lupron shots - but this shot bothered me more and I have a huge bruise on my stomach. Side effects - BLOTATION!!! I feel like humpty dumpty!

Danielle - don't beat yourself up about giving the med student a little grief - I mean, 15 minutes, really? Who wouldn't have been irritated?

Kelly - I am sending AF wishes your way!

Angela - your scan is tomorrow, right? Good luck!

Clair & Gail - welcome and good luck to you both!

Lola - I think we are on the same cycle. You have a scan today - let us know how it went!

Kristine - i have yet to reach the 2ww so I can't really offer any advice. I imagine I will be going crazy as well. I plan on renting a lot of movies and burying myself in my work during that time. Hang in there girl.

Jen - you started stimming on Friday? I started Saturday. I have a scan on Weds to see how things are going so far. Hope everything is going well for you.

Melissa - hang in there with the Lupron. I can't remember if this is your first cycle or not, in case it is - I did not find the side effects of Lupron too bad. A couple of night sweats and some strange dreams for a few days then they went away.

Daly - haven't seen a post from you in a few days. Did you have your ET? Hope you are feeling okay.

Allison - just wondering how you are doing. Think of you.

I tried to get everyone - sorry if I missed anyone. Have a great day - keep smiling! :D

Interns

Post by melliot7 »

Daniel

That is funny I had an intern as well yesterday. He could not stop talking it took almost 15min as well. He found my ovaries but then he said there was a spot there that he thought was my bowl.

So I told him on Tuesday I had a 14mm. That we were just checking to see if I have ovulated. He finally agreed that I did.

I said that I should expect a call to tell me about my Lupron. He looked puzzled. He said " Why you are doing a natural cycle."

I jumped up real quick and said No IVF. He said I will take a look at your chart again. So I got dressed and went out to him. The form they use to track me says natural on the top so he was confused.

Later that day I did recieve a call stating to start my Lupron.

I was very short with him. But, I can't say it was because of the meds. I wasn't on anything.

Danie - that was a hilarious story! I think I would have been the same way. It;s a good thing you weren't already stimming- once your ovaries get so big with follies, those scans do not feel good at all! If he couldn't find them then, he needs to find another profession! HAHA

Hey Lisa - yeah my tummy is bruising just with these Lupron shots! That didn't happen last time until I started stimming with Follistim. Those did hurt more than the Lupron. Hopefully it will all be worth it!!

I'm looking forward to my scan on Friday and starting on my Estrace. That will be my halfway point I guess. Seems like this cycle is just dragging along! I guess its nothing compared to the 2ww!!
My family is having a huge garage sale for us and our treatment costs - it's this Sat. so we are preparing for that this week. That is keeping me busy! I am amazed at how the news has spread and all these people are donating items to us. Makes me tear up just thinking about it. I have great friends and family supporting us!

Daly - been thinking about you! Hope the ET went well and you are resting well on your 2ww.

Kelly - did you get AF yet?! Hope she comes soon!

Hi to all the new ladies!! Good luck to everyone!
HUGS,
Allison

Niccy don’t worry about the injections. I was petrified, I was shaking so much when I had to do my 1st one. I use an auto - injector which is fantastic. I do bruise after doing them for a couple of weeks but they are not too bad. The side effects, effect people differently, I tend to get headaches and a lot of bloating ( I look pregnant at the moment!). Good luck, you will be fine.

Kelly I will do an AF jig for you :P

Danielle your story made me laugh, I cant believe he couldn’t find your ovaries

Lisa what a pain about your bruise, I couldn’t do it in my stomach, I inject in my thighs. :?

What a great idea Allison a garage sale, it sounds as if you have so much support. :D

Hi Girls,

I've loved reading all your posts today. It has made me laugh. I dreaded the thoughts of the inhjections. First time round I used Gonal F on an auto injector which was alright. This time I am on menopour and have to use a good old fashioned syringe and needle. There is that much liquid to get in that I always end up shaking and moving the needle which hurts.

Talking about trainee doctors when I went to have my tubes unblocked there was a student doctor with the anithatist that had started in that department that day. The consultant asked him to put the canula in my hand. Now I don't like these going in so I had had the emla cream put on both hands. The student tried twice and couldn't get the needle in so I said very kindly that I would like the consultant to do it as he had done my last anisthetic and he is a lovely man. He tried twice on my left hand and then twice on my right side and just could not get the needle in. Eventually he decided that as I was getting a bit wound up he would give up and put me to sleep with gas which was really funny as no one in the room had done it before and he was talking them through the technique as I was just lying there.

Anyway I got my own back on him as when I came out of theatre my pulse shot right up for no apparant reason. They had to keep me in recovery for 4 hours trying to bring it down and kept fetching him out of his next operations to look at me. He did say that he used to like me until then to which I replied that I liked him until he couldn't get the needle in. We never did find the reason for the pulse rate shooting up although it took 48 hours for it to come down and at one point they were talking about taking me to coronary care for observation.

Also in all of their proding they managed to touch the tendons on both hands and for 3 weeks afterwards I couldn't use either hand without getting lots of pain.

The moral of the story if a student doctor comes near me again with a needle I am going to run a mile.

Well it is scan time tommorow morning so I will try to post and let you know how I got on although we have got a very busy day at work so may not get on the computer until tommorow evening

Take care everyone

Hiya ladies

Hope weekend was good for you?

Danielle - you made me laugh with your story. I'm a nurse and know what some med students are like. Good on yea for giving him a hard time. When I did my first treatment we had a doctor who used to do the Monday morning clinic he was a obnoxious little upstart. Unfortunatley he dared to give me some stick about 8 days into my DR and I launched at him(verbally), he just stood there looking at me open mouthed and just walked away very quietly. I gained the nickname "Hormone Harriet" from my collegues. I tell you what from that day on he was always as nice as pie when he saw me. I think I scared him!

Niccy- Don't worry about injections. I too used an auto-injecter and had no problems at all. I used to inject in top of thigh. I'm on 300iu of menopur and found the drawing up more time consuming than anything.

Angela- Good luck with your scan tomorrow.

Alison - Snap. My husbands family are having a hugh car boot sale in April to help us with funds. They have been so supportive. Good luck with scan on Friday.

Lisa- Hope things settled down with the bloatiness.

Gail- Hi Gail I remember you from August buddies. You had OHSS very badly. I'm glad to see you have started FET again. Fingers crossed.x

Jen- Hope the stimming continues to be sympton free.

Kelly- Hope AF shows up real soon.

Melissa- DR means "down regging" which you have started today! Good luck.

Hello to anyone I've missed. Here's hoping for loads of BFP'S for us all.

Hi Melissa - I obviously am not a doctor - but I know it is normal for the shots to burn a little. The fact that it is several hours later would concern me a little (only b/c it was your first shot). I am usually a little sore the next day (especially after my Bravelle/Repronex injection) but I wouldn't describe it as "burning". It probably wouldn't hurt to call your doctor's office/clinic just to be sure - they will most likely put your mind at ease.

Allison and Clair - sound like you have wonderful friends and family surrounding you! How nice of them to help you out!

I am having a great time reading your stories about interns, etc. About a month ago when I was having one of my first exams - the doc completed the exam, removed the speculum, and I jumped up a little too quick and jammed my knee into his shiny bald head and knocked his glasses crooked - I was hugely embarrassed, to say the least. Now it just makes me laugh when I think about it.

All of you enjoy the rest of your evening, morning, whichever applies - I am going to roll out of here (work) and go home and put some pants on that will actually FIT around my swollen belly!!

Hi girls

Still waiting - can't believe AF is doing this to me!

Danielle - thought your story was fab, med students can be a real pain, when DH went to the eye clinic the consultant had a student with him, and each time the consultant did something, he'd then show the student and explain it all, took forever for him just to put drops in to make the pupil dilate - DH was getting slightly impatient!
