Does af last longer after ivf bfn?

Noodle--As far as hpts go, I'm torn. I didn't do any last time except for the one at the doctor's office the morning of my first beta. It came back slightly, slightly, slightly positive. Then, of course, my beta dropped and it was negative. It was so devastating. They are just not very reliable. On the other hand, if it is a very strong positive, I think it would be nice to know ahead of time (I hated that call from the office). Big help, huh? I think this next time I am going to do some myself at home, but I will try to wait as close to the beta test as possible like the day before or even day of to try to narrow my chances of seeing that negative. Holly--My AF has been heavier this month (just got BFN) a LOT heavier (sorry if TMI) but it doesn't seem to be lasting longer than normal. Everyone is so different, though, that I might be the one who's not the norm. I think after all those drugs, it's common for your body to flip out a little.

Hey, do you guys take prenatal vitamins even if you haven't gotten a BFP? The doctor put me on them when I had my false BFP and I've continued taking them--figure it won't hurt. Do you think that's wrong?

Meg- thanks for the advice. I would have to do HPT at work, DH has already told me several times not to do, but I really want to prepare myself for a BFN, will get phone call at work, don't think I could handle. Maybe I'll have them call DH with results and he can tell me when I get home??? I have been taking prenatal vitamins for 5 years, since we started TTC, per DR advice.

I took a HPT too for the same reason...I wanted to be prepared. If you take it, make sure it's at least 8 days after tranfer, 10 would be better to make sure the trigger shot is out of your system.. When are you testing??

Cinders- I was supposed to test Thursday, but I'm out of town for business and cannot do BW until Friday, which is 11 days past a 3 day transfer, what do ya think. Maybe do one on Wed AM, will be day 30 of my cycle and I usually get AF between day 26 and 28, but I'm thinking that would be all screwed up with all the hormones???

Holly - Like Meg, I noticed AF was much heavier, but not necessarily longer in days. I think though it's normal for AF to be different. If it seems to be too long, you might call your RE.

Meg - At a minimum, take folic acid even before your next cycle. It can't hurt to take a complete prenatal or regular mulit-vitamin. Just be sure whatever you take doesn't have an overly high level of vitamin A, which can be bad for trying and/or pregnancy. Are you going to have a cycle review meeting with your RE?

Noodle - Like Cinders, I took an HPT. It showed up (+) on 9dpt3dt and (-) on 8dp3dt (although the next day I looked at it an realized there was really a line it was just so faint, I didn't really see). My beta the day it finally showed really (+) was 46. If Friday's 11dp3dt, I'd say you could try on Tuesday or Wednesday, but just be prepared that you could really get a false negative. Thursday's probably even better. Good luck to you! I hope you're getting that bfp you deserve!

Sassy - just wanted to say congrat's on your great ER/fertilization rate. Now, you just have to wait for the FET - I'll keep rooting for you on the Dec/Jan thread (where I lurk from time to time to keep up with some other ladies I've met on the boards.)

Cindy - saw your post over on the sirm board - thanks, I'm glad I'm not the only one with the crazy symptoms coming and going. I also posted over on the 'pregnant after ivf' board here. It seems like our clinic waits a long time for ultrasound #1 - other ladies are getting their scan 6weeks+ which would be next week. On the one hand, I don't want to scan too early because they might not see a heartbeat (because it's just too early) but that would make me nervous. On the other hand, it would be nice to know how things are going! I'll let you know what I decide.

Suzhan--My RE didn't say anything about a cycle review. Just right into a FET. Is that bad do you think?

Thanks to everyone for the advice about the prenatal--I figured it was just a vitamin and so should continue taking it, but figured it didn't hurt to ask!

Meg - probably not if you're going straight into an FET - I didn't realize that. Let's hope the FET is the magic formula for you!

Good Morning All! I'm doing OK on the 2WW, have ultimately decided not to do a HPT. I am going to have the results go to DH, so if a follow-up appointment has to be made he can do it, then tell me when I get home from work. It's going to suck but I can't imagine getting BFN at work, I took Mon off just in case. Friday cannot come soon enough, only 3 more days!!!! Help me out, and need some good luck and good vibes!!!

Hope everyone is doing great, most posters have moved over to Dec/Jan! Good luck, I keep you all in my thoughts constantly!

Noodle: You are so patient not doing the HPT...only 2 days to go...Does your clinic give results in the morning or drag it out to the afternoon??? I am praying you get a BFP!!!!!!!!

Good Afternoon- with the board down for maint. I almost lost my mind! So far so good, I would do a HPT but DH is forbidding.....maybe what he doesn't know.

Cinders- thanks for the thoughts! my appt is at 10am and I probably won't get results until 3pm, but I'm having them call DH with results, I need to be home when I get the news, all past neg have not been pretty.

Meg- thanks for the good wishes, I need them!

Anyway I'll post when I know, everyday seems to drag. should just throw myself into work....ya' right!

Noodle - good luck on Friday! I'm going to be praying that you get a bfp this time! You're so patient - I could have never waited that patiently - good for you!

Cindy - Hows the new PIO? I hope you're feeling better. Saw your sirm post - you should definitely have them see you if you're feeling so bloated. Hope you're doing okay.

I did the 3rd beta yesterday....came back today at it was 11,000 (at 19dp3dt). So, in 8 days it went from 147 to 11000. I guess I feel pretty foolish in asking for that 3rd beta, not to mention paying for it, but I it's just peace of mind, so I'm happy I did it. I do wonder about how high it is, it looks like I'm doubling in about 30-32 hours instead of 48 hours (if I was doubling the 'textbook' 48 hours, I'd have been at 2400, not 11,000). Anyway, not much more I can do but try to be patient until 12/27 and just keep praying that the little beanie/beanies are growing strong.

Suzhan: That's great about your beta!!!!!!!!!! Awesome..maybe you're having twins??? I called the nurse yesterday and she said the bloating was normal as my estrogen was high the day of ER since I had so many eggs. I don't know what to think. I just started new shots, so I'll see in a few days. I still have hives. Glad your betas are so high!! My u/s is 12/26, I can't wait. I don't have a lot of symptoms except a little tired and feel very hungry every 2 hours..how about you??
