awww CRAP! :x Looks like I'm going to be on lupron for 20 days! I was looking forward to a month without needles! But no, not my luck. I've only had one lupron shot ever and it stung like a mofo. Luckily these are going to be much smaller doses. But Please, can anyone tell me, will they all sting? And what the heck does Lupron do that BCP can't??

ET is going to be on 01/25, yay! My frosties will be thawed on 01/21 (they were frozen at 1 day old).

Hopeful: Don't worry about the lupron. Honestly, they are such tiny needles that you inject in your belly and they didn't hurt me at all. They are pretty easily. I was on lupron for a while before stimming too. From what I understand they put your body in an early menopause. I don't know why they do that, but they were really easy to do and painless. Good luck!!

Vicky: I'm so glad your day is tommorrow. Good luck!!! Do you go first thing in the morning??

Hey Mia - 20 days of lupron, huh? I didn't know you did lupron before a FET. But like Cinders said, compared to the shots you've been through, these will be a piece of cake. Just pinch a bit of skin on the lower belly and the needle is so much smaller than the other ones, you'll hardly notice it. Sometimes, I had a bit of a sting or itching after, but not too bad.

From what I understand (& I'm no expert) Lupron stimulates your pituitary and makes it discharge all the LH, but it's so much that it confuses your body somehow and doesn't allow you to ovulate. Whereas, BCPs raise your hormones so your estrogen won't ever surge to make the LH surge to make you ovulate. So, I guess they're kind of like opposites in how they work.

Good luck - it sounds like just about a month until you'll be back at the 2 ww!

Mia- I gave my Lupron shots in the belly also and also did not have much pain the second time through, the first time through I had alot of side effects that were uncomfortable and painful. Good luck I'm sure you'll be a trooper, not like me!
Jovigal- Great job on EC, congrats! I hope you have many fertilized!!! Grow embies-grow embies!
Suzhan- I haven't really gained much weight in this cyle but everthing is so uncomfortable, I need to be able to wear sweats to work!!!
Cinders- It's so great that you and Suzhan are so close to the same date, it's a good measuring tool. So far I've been lucky and haven't been allergic to any of the meds, really surprising because I'm allergic to everything else, good luck with new meds!
Vicky- It's you and me tomorrow, PMA, PMA, PMA, PMA!!! I'll be thinking of you, good luck and good vibes!

We had some friends over for dinner, made chex mix and watched a Christmas Story! Helped take my mind off all this for a couple hours!!! ooops spoke too soon it's right back at the front of my mind again!

Hey gals, question... Are you supposed to refrigerate the Progesterone after you first use it or just keep it at room temp?

ahh, I see. Lupron is the hotflash causing shot. Hmmm, looks as though my RE is trying something different with me this time. Maybe this will work for me this time. I hope so.

I think that Lupron shot I took with my trigger shot hit a blood vessel or something. That's why it stung so bad. Plus it was .80 ml. I'll be taking only .10 ml daily. I was hoping I wouldn't have to pay for any more meds this cycle. Has anyone had their health ins. pay for Lupron? I think someone mentioned that their Ins paid for it.

Hey I know I am not a part of the Nov 06, but I love to watch the success stories. I was just writing to say that my insurance covered the lupron - but it may have been a fluke. I ordered it from a place out of New York that bills my HealthNet and for whatever reason they covered part of it. It was a miracle as I am in California and not much is covered on our plans. The lupron shots at 10ml shouldn't hurt too much. I just always do them in my tummy and unfortunately I have some cushion in that area. You are using the tiny needles, right?? They are super small. I say run everything you can through your insurance and hope for the best. Worst case you pay, but we all kind of expect that anyway so if they cover any part it is a joyous occasion. Good luck with everything! I wish I had done an IVF in November to be a part of your successful group!

Thanks Amy! I think there is a chance my Ins will cover it. I think someone mentioned before that Lupron is sometimes used for other conditions besides IF and that is why it was covered. :) I hope so because this IVF stuff is making us go broke! :x
I might try the shot in my belly. The one lupron shot I took they had me do it in my thigh.

Unfortunately from what I know Lupron is used for prostate problems. That is why when they paid for mine I do believe it was a mistake. My primary care physician thinks that the insurance thought it was for my husband and that is why they covered it. You should do some research and see what else it is used for so you can find a way to backdoor the insurance company and save some bucks. I totally understand on the going broke. We are not doing anything as we don't have any money for it right now! It is so not fair! I get pretty fired up that they don't cover anything in this field as if I were 15 and having kids on welfare I wouldn't have to pay for a thing... but since I have a job and insurance and a loving husband - I have to pay thousands and thousands to be a mom... don't get me started though! (I am not saying that all 15 year old moms are bad... I just don't see too many successful ones in my line of work...) I hope that it all works out for you!
