It feels a bit strange joining a chat room - in tha past i never time for this sort of thing however the past 6 months has changed that for me.
To cut a long story short my husband i came of the pill in July 2007 and in I feel pregant first try however ended up with an ectopic at 5 weeks (right tube which was saved) which i was fairly philisophical about given we had just started trying and the stats looked good. After 3 months required waiting time i feel pregant on 3rd cycle (Jan) and at 6 weeks had another ectopic, this time in my left tube which ruptured and in which i lost 2 litres of blood - very scary and this time has been incredibly upsetting.
So whilst my fertility issues aren't exactly the same as many of you posting, they are still very real!
I'm due to see my ob/gyn in a few weeks to discuss my options however my DH & I are have probably already made up our mind to go down the IVF route. I'm 36 and he's 38 and we just don't want to waste anymore time.
Its been great to read all of your positive stories over the past few years and i am so hoping we can be as lucky.
I have a few questions that i'm hoping one of you maybe able to answer if you have time. I'm based in Melbourne and wondering if anyone has suggestions re the best IVF clinic to go to? Also wondering how long does it takes to get into the clinic as i had read on some message boards it may take a while. I'm hoping to start in May, 2008.
Hi Susan
Welcome to the boards you've definately come to the right place the ladies on these boards are so supportive and the good thing is that no matter what your infertility issue is none is more valid than the other and theres always someone else here experiencing the same or similar as yourself. it sounds as though you've had it rough in the past hopefully this is the turning point for and your dh.
I'm from Brisbane myself so i'm not one hundred percent sure but as far as i know there are two clinics you could go to in Melbourne which are Monash or Melbourne Ivf and from ladies who have been on this thread before i beleive Melbourne IVF is the better of the two. I couldn't tell you about the wait time. for me in brisbane it was two weeks to wait to get in to see the specialist and then we started treatment with my next period so it was pretty quick.
Your always welcome to post here anytime but just know it may also be helpful to join a thread where you are posting with ladies who are having treatment at the same time as yourself so you may find a may/june thread to log into also. I actually post on afew threads it all depends on what appeals to you and whats relavant to your treatment.
Goodluck hope to chat with you again and goodluck with your future cycle
Take Care JOMAEXXX
Hello ladies
Tiger how are you mate have you decided if your going ahead with a fresh cycle or are you going to use your frosties.I hope you and Dh are both well. Do you still have Hammy?
Hey Kery I'm sure youv'e done a fine job with your boy i'm glad your getting more time to spend with him. Has AF raised her ugly head for you yet i hope so Ds all though a handleful at times is generally pretty good i just think it is a stage he's going through and i guees it will all depend on how i deal with him on how long it lasts or how long he thinks he can get away with his tantrums hes starting to understandmore everyday which will help when i can reason with him and give him choices .
i had my 2nd scan today and all looks good baby is the right size and looking good the doctor says i have to have another ceasar which i'm not sure i'm happy with i'll have to check out my options before letting him talk me into a ceasar soi guess i'll see what happens i have to have bloods donein a weeks time to assist with the nuchal foldscan i'm booked in to have in 2weeks time i also have my first hospital appointment in two weeks time so lots happening for me.
Thanks Jomae for your reply, advice and good wishes - i appreciate it. If any of the other ladies have used MIVF i'd be very keen to hear what you thought and who your dr was. I want to be as informed as possible when i meet with my Gyn/Ob.
Hi Susan
Welcome to the board!! gee you have been through a lot lately. As Jomae said the ladies on this site are all really supportive. Some of these ladies seem to know more than some nurses!! Sorry I am not from Melbourne so I'm not sure about clinics there. The two clinics I went to both did assessment cycles before I could start treatment. They just do blood work and ultrasounds over a month to see what is going on. Anyway welcome and good luck in your journey!!
Hi Jomae
Yep did bloods yesterday and started meds today. I'm only on 50 units of Puregon. Glad to hear that your u/s looked good. What is a nuchal foldscan? Do they think you will need another ceasar because you had one last time?
Tiger, whats happening with you my dear?

Jomae, what a beautiful piccy of your bubs!!!! perrrrfect little bubba, soooo gorgeous. Thank you for sharing the piccy with us. How lovely!!
Kery, how are you getting on with your meds? I hope it is not giving you the craps if you know what I mean!!! I am sending you lots of love and best wishes for the roller coaster ride. I am sure this is the one for you. YES.
and...
Huge welcome to SUSAN!
how wonderful to have you here to the site and esp to this thread. We love our newbie buddys, yes we do. You are most welcome to share anything with us; Anything that your heart desires ma' lady . You asked about MIVF? Well I am with MIVF so let's see:-
1) My doc is Jim Tsaltas. We got him because he was/is my Endo Specialist to start off with. So it was natural for us to go with Jim for our IVF. We felt comfortable with Jim with my endo nuisance. He listened to me, he explained things well and he treated me like a person. If you wanna know more about him pls send me pm.
2) MIVF is OK I think (I have nothing to compare it to yet, sorry). Nurses are nice enough (I am with the red team nurses), Reception is ok, Accounts people are nice, and Chemist is ok too. Location is not too bad - sometimes it is a ***** to find a decent car park though.
3) If you wanna see Jim the usual waiting time for a consultation is around 2 months I think. You will need to get a referral from your GP to see him. So say if you called his office tomorrow - you will see him ealry-mid June? Meanwhile if your GP/Jim says you need to get Day21 ultrasound I recommend you go to Woman's Ultrasound Centre at Epworth Freemason's Medical Centre (ask for Dr. Amanda or Dr. Jacqui). If you decide on Jim they are the docs he usually sends his patients down for all IVF ultrasounds (I hear that other docs do their own ultrasound but not Jim, he is too busy). I am not sure whether this is enough info for you but if you need to know more about MIVF pls send me pm.
As for me, I am extremely busy with my relocation to Sydney. I should get new boxes delivered this Friday for packing. The big pick up day should be late next week. I should have relocated myself to Sydney by mid April because I have a trip to Japan from Apr 22nd. My new contract w work (luckily they gave me a transfer to Syd) starts on 1st May. You're not kidding if you think I am losing my mind - again. So I am in no place to be thinking about IVF at the moment. Until I am settled and relaxed I cannot afford my body and soul to deal with horrid IVF roller-coaster ride. Bit sad but what can I do? Life takes you places and I can only go with the flow, no point in fighting it!!
Hey Tiger
Great hto hear from you!! Gee you are a buzy girl at the moment and sounds like it's gana be like that for the next month for you!! You are right you need to be in the right head space to go into another cycle. Yep I'm back into it, back on the horse as they say Thanks for asking but yea no side effects or anything.

Thanks Kery and Tiger for your advice - it has been extremely helpful. I have done a ring around the doctors today and so far they all seem easy enough to get into. I just need to wait to talk with my specialist in a few weeks and go from there - the suspense is killing me though!
Jomae - that is a beautiful piccy of your babe - you must be over the moon!
I agree with Tiger - we love new people! I'm also a brissy girl so can't help you much with Melbourne but I think all the clinics are pretty good. And don't worry about your story - everyone's is painful no matter what the details. We have unexplained infertility and after 5 years of trying, 3 IUI's and one IVF we had twin boys last year. And now, much to me shock I have found I am pregnant naturally! I was worried everyone would think I was an idiot having 3 kids under 18 months, but most people are so excited that we did it on our own.
Hi kery, great to see you are back at it. I so hope that this is the one for you. Let us know all your dates.
Jomae - Loved the pic! They look like aliens at this stage don't they? I am only 2 weeks behind you, so its going to be nice getting fat(TER!!) with you. (I still haven't lost the baby weight from the last preg!) I am feeling so tired. How are you doing?
Hi Tiger - the big move is happening soon? good luck with that.
Anyway, I need to get some dinner organised.

Kery hows things with you have you done your IUI yet or not quite there yet how are you feeing? No i don't intend on finding out if bub is a boy or a girl i like the suprize at the end although i could be more organized if i did.
thanks for asking Em yep i'm doing fine i'm off for a blood test today to go with my nuchal fold scan next Monday how far are you again your two weeks behind me is that right i think my uterus has moved up higher this week i seem to be feeling more uncomfortable higher in my belly than usually do you remember noticeing any difference with your boys. How are they btw good i hope my ms is still lingering no vomit just nausious and i seem to be extra tired now than earlier on i have been doing more though so i guess thats the reason how are you going any ms for you.
Hi susan hows the clinic hunting going any progress yet hope your well
Hi Em
Don't worry about what other people think. I think it's amazing that after all you have been through that you did it on your own
Hi Jomae
I'm guessing it will be around this friday or the following monday. Yep feeling ok but I have had a headache for about three days now. Not sure if it's because of the meds.

Hi Jomae - yes the hunt continues. The person i've narrowed things down to at this stage is Dr Lynn Burmeister at Monash as she is the only one that has mentioned ectopic in the bio. Anyone know of Lynn and has any thoughts about her?
