To have fun Thanks for understanding my bad day.... I have baked a whole pack of Toll House oatmeal cookies and they are making me feel much better now. When DH comes home from work at 9pm i will open a bottle of wine and that will also help. Think i am bored more than anything since we moved here as we dont know anyone and i'm not working while we are here, so the house feels very empty when he's gone. Now if i had a couple of little ones they would keep me busy..... Think i need a hobby!!!!!!

chenry.. i had a similar experience..

Are you cycling with SIRM? Where? I am with Dr Sher in NY...

i dont think they have a cut off they are about you managing your own cycle in a way.. Dr Sher however prefers to do day 5 blast transfers.. which means you could cycle without a transfer

Fun.. you are right my Father doesnt have a clue. and it is hard for him to be supportive as my stepmother is his 3rd wife and he was clear he wanted no more kids.. she resented never being able to have one

my post about being an only child was a little misleading for simplicities sake.. he had 2 daughters from a frist marriiage who have been disasters.. drug addicts suicide etc...

I have been his son .. dont get a lot of sympathy.. oh well..

The reality is my life is extremely blessed.. I live alife in many ways most people only dream of... this fertlity thing has thrown me for a loop..

I was pg 2x.. using birth control.. didnt keep them for reasons too long to explain here.. glad i am not tied to their fathers but hate what i did..

I feel like i am now being punished........

I have always been able to get anything i wanted if i worked hard.. not this...

I feel so self centered... and i am sorry ladies all i seem to be able to do is rant these days...

Anyway we have to start sending out LOTS of PMA and know that there will be LOTS of BFPs on this board

My last BCP is tonight.. maybe tomorrow i wont feel so psychotic......

Anyone new feel free to ask any questions.. going into my 5th i thinkk i am probably the old hand on this board.. id like to help in any way i can!!!!

hi ladies, wow, lots of action in the last 24..cool :D

chenry, i'm so sorry about your high FSH. i can imagine as another high fsh'er what a piss off that is. i would go into a panic if my clinic wanted to re-test mine. i disintegrated in the last CCT.. so what's your plan now? will they go ahead? have you considered DHEA?

welcome sloan- it's wonderful to have a place to vent, share and just let it 'all hang out'. no one will ever judge you and don't worry about saying 'too much' or the wrong thing.. we'll always love you. i added you to the update board- i assumed you meant starting bcps on friday, but correct me if it's straight to stims

kas,- good rant, congrats on AF- 1 step closer. that's awesome you called and told the nurse, he he.

NY4th- sorry about your dad..that sucks. my parents & 1 sister are unsupportive in different ways , mostly by being emotionally unavailable and pretending nothing is happening for us. i hope you find peace of mind despite his poor behavior.
chris- i bet you're excited as you step closer with the bcps..awesome.
and ajdec!! congrats on ER!!! how wonderful..
.to everyone else-hello and hope you're well!

Hi All
Gosh I need to check the threads more regularly! Thanks for the welcome and looks like its going to be a good busy board that will help us all get through the next few months!

Still trying to catch up with all the goings on (but think am getting there - have registered acu needles in foreheads, battering rams for parents with thoughtless verbiage and quite a bit of other stuff!!)

ADJEC - it sounds like your leading the way with heaps of follies! Hope that trigger shot and then your pick up goes well!!

Baby Hopes – Bummer about the delay. There are many times if feels like there is something or someone twisting that screw a little harder than they need to. Hope your up and running in no time. I missed the detail - but are you scheduled to have a lapro to clear up?

Jenn - Good luck with the laproscopy - I have had a few surgeries for my tubes and both times it was in and out of the hospital with no pain or anything at all afterwards - so you'll be rearing to go in no time!

4th Try - I know all about insensative DH's - of everything that is probably the thing that gets me down the most about this IVF cycle. DH pretty much doesn't want anything to do with the whole thing. When I tried to tell him when the pick up/collection dates would be - he kind of seemed annoyed and asked WHY I needed to tell him the dates . . . "err well how about because if your giving a rather crucial sperm sample you need to be in the same building as me at the time make "your contribution!"

Karen - I really appreciate your thoughts too. Complex difficult times! Its good to get the stuff going on inside your head out. :)

Kas - How is that Acu going? I have been thinking about it myself but think I'll leave this for the next IVF if this doesn't work - it seemed like another thing I would have to try and fit in which would cause me more stress than it would save!!

Sorry if missed anyone, or if got details messed up with names. Best of luck to us all!

Am not totally sure how to update the board and keep the formatting - but will try - so can change my status as am currently on the down reg drugs and don't expect to start stimming until probably around 22nd October.

Have a good week all

M

Good Morning ladies!

Ajdec - good luck to you tomorrow!!! You are going to be the start of our great responses on this thread.

Sloan 88 – Welcome!!! I am new to IVF and have found the ladies on this thread to be a wonderful comfort to me. I am excited to have found a group of ladies that understand what I have been going thru for over 4 years now.

Kas101 – that is great that you called your doctor. Mine actually had told me to call them so they know that everything was still going well.

NY4thtry – That was very insensitive of your father. He may be looking at what his other kid were like and didn’t want you to have to deal with the same thing. I am not making excuses for him, but it is possible. People just dont understand what we go thru in order to have children, most of all men, including our DHs.

To Have Fun – congrats on being able to start your BCPs!!! :) :) :)

New to this

Post by robin611 »

Hi guys,
I'm new to this whole thing. This is my first try at IVF. My husband and I have been trying for a year. We are going right to IVF with ICSI due to our age and also the male factor issues we are having. I'm guessing I belong in this thread because I'm starting the stim meds Oct 18th and targeting retrieval/transfer for late Oct/early Nov.

My 2 big concerns are 1) my ability to actually stick myself with a needle! and 2) being "under" during the retreival process. The doctor mentioned something about IV with intubation. Sounds scary to me.

Any insights?

Thanks!

Robin - Welcome to the boards. After the first few needles you will be used to them. ER was also no problem for me. They put an IV in my hand, I went into this room and they put my legs up in this boot kind of thing. My arms were spread open, one with the IV and the other with a blood pressure thing. Kind of felt like I was on the cross owith my arms spread wide open and my legs spread wide open showing my whoohaa to everyone. I don't even remember going out, I was listening to the Dr's and nurses talking and the next thing I knew I woke up in the recovery room. I had a little cramping afterwards but it was no big deal. Don't worry too much you will do just fine. What drugs will you be taking?

Ajdec - Good luck tomorrow!!!!!

Melo_P - Sorry there are so many posts. Some of us are just addicted and post all the time.

Jen - Good luck with your surgery this week. You are having it on Friday correct? I watch the video, I had seen it before but it still made me ball my eyes out. I am such a crier, but that video totally explains how I feel most of the time with infertility.

Karen - You will be on stims in no time. Yeah!!!! Are you getting excited yet?

NY4thtry - I also feel that my life is extremely blessed, I don't a lot of people would dream to have my life but I would think some would love to walk in my shoes. Maybe this is the reason why we are brought down to the ground with infertility issues.

gina1234 - I am happy for you that you and DH had a good weekend. I think taking some time off is good. I am going on vacation next week and can drink all I want and also get to 4-wheel my Jeep. YEAH!!!! All things I couldn't be doing if I was in a cycle. Having some time off definatly releases some stress.

Kas101 - Tollhouse oatmeal cookies sound yummy. Did you put the butterscotch chips in them? That is my DH's favorite. I have been craving some Tollhouse Chocolate chip cookies. I am doing to try and make some before leaving for vacation. Not good at all for my waistline but heck I will be on vacation and drinking all kinds of alcoholic beverages so what more could a few cookies hurt?

Well, AF is here and is making up for being nice last month. I was figuring last month would be bad since I got my BFN but no this month is really bad. Can't wait for her to leave.

Good question... I'm taking Brevelle (300) & Menopur (75). Also, possible Ganerlix (sp?) and HCG. I have no idea what any of this means but that's what on my calendar. Also, estrace before stims start. And P4 in oil beginning retrieval day. Thoughts?

BTW, what is DH and AF? Thanks

Robin - The follistim and menopure will grow your follicles and produce the eggs. The ganirelix will keep you from ovulating while your follicles are growing. As I understand it as your E2 (estorgen) levels get higher, your body will want to ovulate. The more follicles you have the higher your E2 level will be so you take the ganirelix so you won't ovulate. Then when your follies are big you will take the HCG shot to trigger ovulation and 36 hours later you will have ER. After ER you will take progestrin. Progestrin is usually made by our bodies but seeing that the cycle was drug induced the body will not produce it so we have to also take that. Hope this helps. On my first cycle I was clueless so I looked all the medication up on the Internet so I could figure out what was going on. Good luck.

Okay...getting a little nervous about tomorrow...but excited at the same time. For all of you who have done ER before, any idea on what I can expect to feel like after? Is it a "no brainer" or will I have pain? Just have no idea on what to expect... Thanks all!
