SD- 6 Sounds like the perfect number for success!! And I love the PMA with your ticker. Maybe if this cycle ever starts for me Ill do something like that to make me have a better PMA this time around. Let us know once you hear fertilization reports- we are all anxiously awaiting.

crissylove- Sounds like the stims are working great. Good luck at the appt today.

shaymama- Keep us posted on how your appt goes today.

Blissful- Thanks for all the info. I may have to look into that book. The diet you mentioned sounds a lot like the way we normally eat at our house. We usually dont have bread, or pasta (unless its low carb), no processed foods, and I dont drink soft drinks. Any diet that recommends I have lots of ice cream has me as a supporter! Much like you I usually give up all caffiene and alcohol during all this stuff. I make sure to stop once I have started stimming...so until then I keep things at a minimum. Do you know what the "sweet spot" BMI was? As for the exercise we used to walk 2 miles every night but during these cycles we got off track when I would be on bed rest every few weeks. Now DH is always busy with work and I have school...but we need to make time to walk in the rain or snow. Thanks again for all the info.

Ok ladies, My ultrasound went well today. I am moving along to fast so they started slowing me down yesterday and are slowing me even more tonight. My Doc is super concerned about OHSS. :( I am getting a little nervous because now my RE is talking about the possibility of having to freeze for six weeks after ER so I can let my ovaries rest. I really hope I don't have to freeze. I know it is not the end of the world and I need to stay positive but I am so tired of waiting! The RE had me stop the lupron and bravelle and I am only doing 75u of menapur and added a new med. They said I might have to trigger sooner then the 12th. I have blood draws and ultrasounds everyday from now on.

Crissy- How did your app. go today? I am trying to avoid salt and I am drinking a ton of H2O.

SD- I am so excited for you! You are so close to your BFP!! I can not wait to hear what they say on Wed. :D

Shaymama - Sorry about your high E2 and possible OHSS. Lots of PCOS patients have gone through the same thing. I noticed you posted that you aren't eating salt and drinking lots of H2O. I think actually it should be the other way around. You need to drink stuff like Gatorade. drinking plain H20 makes OHSS worse. I have heard drink gatorade and eat protein. Be sure to ask your Dr. but that is always what I have seen with other gals that had OHSS.

Just popping in to give my 2 cents on the OHSS issue.

Shaymama - Sorry about the possibility of OHSS. I agree with to_have_fun. You need to have an increased salt intake, especially in fluids such as gatorade or v8. Water follows salt, so when you have an increased salt intake, it'll drive the excess water out of your body. I had a mild form of OHSS just a few days ago and drank gatorade every chance I got. I feel back to my old self again. Please refrain from drinking pure H20 as it'll make matters worse. Confirm with your nurse to be on the safe side. Good luck!

Shaymama- definitely lifting you up tonight, and I agree with the other girls. Plain water is bad. You want electrolytes and sodium. Too much water will dilute both.

Blair- my pleasure. As you can tell from my long winded post, I love this stuff. If I was independently wealthy and NOT the primary breadwinner in my home I would go to med school and then school for oriental medicine and become the greatest RE of all time. :D The science and the mystery behind it all fascinates me. I think I missed my calling.

To answer your question, Infertility was least common for women with a BMI from 20 to 24 with an ideal of 21 (which happens to be where I plateaued). Based on your earlier posts you sound like you are in good shape. I am no doctor (despite my daydreams) but I would think at this point you would want to maintain your weight and not throw anything in your system out of whack by trying to get to the perfect 21.

For those of you out of the range- never fear. Losing/Gaining 5 to 10 % of your bodyweight can make a significant improvement in ovulatory function even if it doesn't put you into the fertility zone.

SD- congrats on your 5 little embies! Grow babies grow!

AFM- after all my talk about being happy my RE was meeting me halfway and freezing some and taking only 4 to blast, I am positively giddy tonight about the call I received from the nurse telling me we are taking all the embies to blast. They reviewed my case today and determined that was the thing to do given my history and improvements in cryopreservation. I feel great about it, assuming we get lots of good embies. I had only 9 fertilize a year ago but am hoping the antagonist cycle and a better lifestyle we keep me there or better.

So...I will be putting all my eggs in one basket. Hardy har har har! Bet the RE has never heard that one before! 8)

Baby dust to you all.

On the diet... I forgot one of the most important things... ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY NO TRANS FAT! Trans fat and partially hydrogenated oils are the enemies of fertility an longevity!!! Stay far far away, now and forever! ;)

Hi Shay,
It sounds like ur RE is on top of things. I agree with the girls about not overdoing the H20. No more than 6-8 glasses or you could flood ur system. I was told to mix with Gatorade. Best advice anyone gave was to dbl chk with ur RE. My personal experience has been the more I limit my salt, the more I pee. In fact, the instructions my clinic gives is to be low salt, low fat, 6-8 gl/day to help reduce OHSS.
As for the freezing, no biggie. Maybe little Shaybaby wants to be born in December. Take that time to look after and pamper urslf. That's a perfect time to cleanse and nourish your body. Google the fertility cleanse/diet and maybe see an acupuncturist to help build ur lining while you wait for Shaybaby to come home :) keep up the PMA.
As for me (AFM-oops I said it now) I'm having to go daily for bld wk too. I could feel the estrogen just coursing thru my body. I've been light-headed at times. This thing isn't for the faint of heart, but no matter the wait it's worth it to get the outcome we all so richly desire.

Alisa- I would have to agree with sd on this one. I had originally considered going to med school, but after watching DH do it...there's no way I would ever submit myself to that. The stress, long hours, not to mention the 200K in loans is enough to make me run from medicine. Though we do need more great REs out there...I wouldn't put yourself through all that extra stress. I'm glad you got good news after talking with your RE though!!

I quizzed my first boyfriend all the way to valedictorian of his graduating Med school class then set him free to burden someone else with his loans. Ha ha. So I am familiar with the gig.

I finally finished all the school I care to get about 2 years ago (MBA) But will live out my medical fantasy on these boards. ;)

SD- what is your field? Lol on "going all in." I'm gonna miss your being around when you are on vacay girl!

Hi everyone. Sorry for being MIA. We had our retrieval yesterday. They got 13 eggs - and today we got the good news that 12 fertilized! We are doing a day 3 transfer (my daughter was born with a day 3 transfer, so we are sticking with what works!) I am hoping we have two to implant and some others to freeze...but the process changes so much every day! Wishing you all the best and sending good thoughts!
