Hi Randa, To be honest DH is not totally into the whole IVF thing...I tell him, he listens but he is totally scared of hospitals, clinics, needles...also it wasn't until a couple of years ago that we decided to have children (or a child)...it has really taken him along time to come around to the idea...he does want children and he does support me....but in his own way. I would of course like him to be more into it...but I can't change him.

You are right about egg quality..there is nothing else I can do or control....just hoping the best for September...and now just thinking positive thoughts.

I wasn't overly healthy eating this weekend..some wine and cake ...but I needed this b/c AF is on her way. I can look on the bright side because the count down will start to begin.....

Hi there, what a great thread,

I have just returned from 2 weeks in Thailand, and in a healthy mode again. I think i will find inspiration here! You are all doing so well. I have been off the caffeine for 1 week (lots of headaches), and have started to grow my own bean sprouts ets...pretty good eh? Did have 1 piece of cake last night, but you can't be good all the time! I like the idea of going for 2 things per day, thats realistic.

Happy eating

Yvee - hi and well done on the beanshoots! I go for tofu myself but long for soy sauce to liven it up which of course is a no-no  We've drifted away from the 2 positive things a bit BUT have tried to avoid getting into the beating ourselves up over a bag of potato crisps etc. Too much negativity.

Traci, having gone on and on about how I wasn't going to stop the odd glass of wine, it's suddenly become extremely odd indeed. Maybe 2 glasses a weekend and that's it. It wasn't deliberate and we've a very good box open at the moment which would be super simple to dip into, I just don't feel like it. I am eating lots of fresh blueberries this week as we pick them in the woods behind our house. All very cutesy (and messy) but extremely yummy and of course a super-food.

Weighed myself at MIL's today, big mistake as her scales are 2kgs heavier than mine, will stick to my own from now on. I spent 3 hours sanding down some garden furniture and that's made my arms really, really ache and my back....I feel my age tonight!

Hoping we're all feeling positive!
Debra.

Hi all,
I think I must be the last person on earth to discover the Food channel, but I have! I was afraid that watching food prepared on tv would just make me want to eat more, but what I found was some great tips on how to make things lower in calories.
There is a show called the Calorie Commando and it's this guy who shows you how to make tasty things like meatball subs and battered zuchini sticks, but in a guiltfree manner.
I got LOTS of tips, but I'll just share one for today:

TIP!
For sub sandwiches, scoop out the bread in the middle of the roll and you eliminate more than half the bad calories in the bread! For me, the bread is really about the crust and the fact that it just holds everything together anyway, so scooping out the thick middle of the rolls before making the sandwich and then toasting didn't give up any flavor. (please forgive me if most real cooks already knew to do this!)

OH! And the weight bench I've been wanting finally went on sale, so now I have a weight bench and full set of weights for my upper body and core workouts! (Now I can do something more than push ups or lifting water jugs for my upper arms :D ) My little "home gym" is really starting to come together!

Don't know if anyone else has this issue, but I had to give up on professional gyms (which has worked well for me most of my adult life) because of weather and parking. It rains so much in my new city (Seattle) and the parking is a nightmare. If I have to overcome too many obstacles to get to my workout.... duh... I won't go. And that's what was happening. So now, no matter what the weather, I just trot down the basement stairs and I'm there! My dh even installed cable tv for me!!!! I find time passes so quickly when you're watching your favorite shows on the treadmill.

Happy exercizing!!!

HI Yvee - Thailand sounds fantastic!! I would just eat my entire vacation....I love to eat food from streetvendors...in fact I have quite the reputation...most people ar scared to death (afraid of germs,infections...) but you get the most amazing food...and it is all local!! I thought about writing a book about my culinary adventures and write reviews (my husband always think I am crazy). My next stop is Vietnam :D

Debra - As far as the wine goes...I too am cutting it out...if I am doing everything else in a super healthy manner why not just cut the wine out as well (just to be on the safe side). I feel for you regarding the garden furniture...it is a ton of work!! We have some teak stuff and this year I cleaned (i.e.sanding) and restained it all...I thought I was going to die...but the efforts paid off and it looks great :D

Randa - I wish I could get the Foodnetwork...whenever I am in the US, this is the station I always watch. mmmm...just thinking about a meatball sandwhich on some nice crusty bread... We also have a small workout room ..so much easier!! And you don't need to even worry about brushing your hair!

I am doing good...still eating healthy...although I started adding some carbs to dinner (pasta) and only cooking meat for DH. My exercise is mainly taking the dogs for a big walk, may go for a jog this afternoon. I haven't gotten on the scale....with AF arriving my weight is scewed anyway.

HI Tracii
I was not brave enough to eat from the street vendors, but many of the local people did, so that must be a good thing. I have also been to Vietnam, wnich was fab, they have people on the street called noodle knockers - you hear them coming as they tap a little instrument thing. I found in the food in Vietnam even stranger! Snakes and all sorts!
Think i will stick to my own healthy eating plan. Need to think about excerising...

Foodwise the last few days have been mixed so we won't focus on that now  Exercisewise, I bought a kid's seat for MIL's bike and now cycle to collect DD from kindergarten. She weighs 28lbs so coming back uphill all the way is excellent exercise but kills my knees, which are weak anyway.

Randa, thanks for the sub/empty out the doughy bit idea. I never eat subs - this is more of the open sandwich kind of place - but will remember this should I stumble across one. Wish I had a gym room.....my oddball BIL has an un-used exercise bike at MIL's but we have no contact with him so I can't really ask to borrow it :(

Yummmm, Vietnam. Yep I loved the food there too and Sydney was full of fantastic Vietnamese restaurants.

Traci, the garden furniture didn't get used! it rained all day - after all that hard work....grrrr. Still, almost time to put it away for the autumn. No snow until October probably but it's not been warm since June (when we were away, lol).

Debra,
Biking with all that weight.... uphill no less is really good exercize!!! I have to watch my knees too now days and I can just feel your pain. As for the BIL exercize bike, take it and leave a big note with an I.O.U. :D Knowing you, it would probably be the wildest, most irresponsible thing you've ever done (he he)!

I made the Calorie Commando's turkey meatball sandwiches today and they were yummy! If you want any of his recipes, type his name into google - he's on the Web and the recipes are free!

Here's my two:
1) Coffee walk into village with my neighbor (we do this every Wed morning) appx. 2 miles r/t up and down hills.
2) Only time for one meal today - turkey meatball sub @ 5 p.m. (I don't usually do this, just worked out that way.)

Hope everyone else is having a healthy day!

Hello fellow healthies

How are things going? I have still managed to stick to my healthy eating, but still can't managed to drink the right amount of water, as i find it quite boring - any suggestions? Going to a wedding next week and people are shocked i am taking the car. You can enjoy yourself without alcohol right? Anyway just thought i would say hi and see how you are all doing.

The blueberries tasted pretty good...they are in season here now so they were really sweet  . I love the original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory...how is the new one? In fact, the original was filmed just down the road from us...yup in Munich! When they go up in the air at the end, you can see downtown Munich and the 'Frauenkirchen'.

Went to grocery store yesterday and bought lots and lots of fruit. Tonight we are BBQing...maybe I will pick up some fish. Tomorrow night DH wants some pork so I will make a nice pear chutney to go with it, with a 'wild' salad and mushrooms. mmmm---I am making myself hungry.

No exercise for me this past week...AF from hell is my excuse...but I did walk the dogs alot in the woods.
