Angie--You're brave to take the hpt---I'm just going to let my imagination run wild for as long as I can  Actually, my cycles usually go 32-35 days so I'm not officially late yet. For once, I'm not sweating it. Usually I'm all devastated every month when AF comes, but luckily this month I'm just excited to start FET. Go Figure!

Meg, Ok this is going to sound so strange, but I am a little like you as in my AF comes later and later, I never know when she will rear her ugly head. However, whenever I am awaiting her or planning on her without fail she will come within hours of having sex. I swear, this month I was planning on her showing up around the first, well the B&^@H came on xmas, shortly after having sex.
I am not saying it's a definate cure, but it could be fun trying it out! Until then I will be jigging my ass for you!

Hey Lady's

Ange yeah i was supposed to be on the same cycle as last three times so i was supposed to start D/R around 21st Jan after i ovulated apparently this pill im on is supposed to fool my body into thinking ive already ovulated so we can skip that part they keep me in surpression then we start stimming that kind of freaked me out and ok truth be told (shantala will back me up i think) im a erm A type of person i have a touch of OCD LOL i need things to be organized and in order, i know i have issues...LOL last time i was at my Dr's office she was called out of the room so while i waited i cleaned up put everything in order..she came in looked around and said ahhh OCD so to throw my plans out of the window on no notice threw me but im getting there im excited now
ooo ok i just looked up Ganirelex its to stop ovulation wow they have you on lots of meds....ive seen it before your going to get some good eggs you know....and yeah can you imagine us once we all start stimming...LOL

Time off work

Post by arizonakiwi »

Hi everyone,

Thanks for everyone's good wishes I feel like the new kid in class and everyone else has a much better idea of what to expect / all the terms and everything - but this is a great resource to find out about what to expect and meet some lovely people from around the world going through the same process.

As this is our first IVF cycle I hope someone can give me an indication about what time off work you generally need.

Is is better to plan a week off leding up to EC and ET or do you normally feel "ok" and just having a having time off on the collection and transfer days is enough.

Also when you start the injections - do the side effects start straight away or take a few days to kick in, also does everyone get the side effects they describe?

Thanks,

Angela

Hi Angela...its both exciting and nerve wrenching isnt it...i have to say 4th try in its a wonderful journey your about to take i promise if i had the money i would keep doing this there is nothing (except the BFN's) that i hate about it and as emotional as it gets it equally as exciting not only that i have met some wonderful dear people along the way you are in the right place for support...
side effects whatever you do dont read the box your meds come in that can freak you out i have only taken Lupron Follistim Gonal F and Progeserone shots so far and to be honest its not as bad as you would think
for me they sting a little bit when injected the Lupron can make you tried and you have mini hot moments but nothing too bad the stimms can cause headaches bloating sore ovarys (but thats a good feeling means its working)and with every side effect there is something to take your mind off it like with stimming after about 5 days you start going for scans and bloods so instead of thinking about the meds you focus on your growing follies i know at first i was really really worried about EC but i love that bit now i get time warp drugs (send you back to the 60's) and then your out you wake up and you focus on how many eggs...
we will be here every step of the way for you too

hugs Aunty

oooo ladies, like always, much afoot on this thread!

Jackie: So sorry to hear about the pooch. coming on the heels of your canceled cycle must hurt even more. We are here for you.

Silva: Welcome to the thread (aka "looney bin"!). Great group of girls here! (oooo, and good luck tonight!)

Macca: Congrats on starting stims this wk... great news! Our transfer will be the same day!

Aunty: ooooo, i am so excited for you! for once it must be nice to have things go FASTER than planned instead of slower!

Arizonakiwi: Welcome to the thread, and to the ivf rollercoaster! We are all here to help you through it. As for time off... i end up needed most mornings of the wk of EC for ultrasounds, etc (o/w i am fine going to work, but i block out patients for the whole am in case the clinic is running late). I take the day after EC off (mostly just to treat myself-- and my job is not very sedentary) and then 2 days after transfer (made a deal w/dh to be down for 72 hrs after ET since we are paying everything out of pocket). As for med s/e, i think it is fair to say that they vary considerably. I think most women get a lot of bloating and at least some ovarian pain. i had 3 different protocols, and the symptoms started at different times each cycle, and varied by the protocol. Good luck to you!!!!

Angie and meg: shaking my (ample) butt in a disco AF jiggy dance for you both!

shantala: bravo on the list (aunty, i think you have a very competent replacement!).

PMApsy: Glad you liked the "dildocam" i mentioned on the other thread... wish i could take credit for it, but heard it from someone else. I find it to be a disturbingly accurate depiction...

All right, so still on schedule... started estradiol today, so working on growing the most beautiful, fat lining possible. Yest clinic told me everything may be pushed back a day (a problem, ladies as i am skipping town to fit 2 days of powder skiing in later this wk... plane tickets and all..). But... good news today...all is still in order, the only thing that changes is that i get to skip a scheduled blood draw tomorrow (What  ! One LESS blood draw... has the world reversed orbit?). Still on track for FET on the 25th. (oh, shantala, did that answer your question?)
6 fresh IVFs plus one cancelation

Yeah yippee yahoo!!!!! I get to trigger tonight and retrieval will be 1-10-07 at 9:45. The doctor I had today was not as positive as the others  she said that I had quite a few that she did not think would fertilize...... Even tho the RE said that she saw 20 countable eggies..... Oh well keep fingers and toes crossed for us just as long as I get 1 to stick this time I will be happy.

arizonakiwi- Good Luck with your cycle !!!!

Meg--sending you an AF jiggggg

Jackie I am so so sorry to hear about your doggie that really sucks I do so hope your luck changes for the better soon.

Shantala- Hope you are getting ready for your turn thanks for all the support.

Silva- Welcome and good luck

Hi Ladies,

Only 12 hours n this thread already add 4 pages. Don't you sleep?!?! Sorry I forgot time differences

Haylie, thanks. u make more motivate. Probably difficulty to cut the 'original' fat. Thanks God, DH was thypoid fever. Oooppsss sorry :D So no eating outside for us again. Oh.. I miss my SJP life :D :D

PMapsy, Is the book also good? I saw the copy on our book store. Im book lover. Id like to read the book first before watching the movie.

SS, I have a new routine. Now, Im a driver. I drive DH everymorning to work (He said he was still weak to drive in traficc jam ), hit the treadmill, go home for breakfast, make luch for me n DH, Drop lunch to DH's office, pick him up again at 5pm. It's been 2 days. Im not crazy yet :D :D I love the idea not driving while pregnant. Im hoping to get pregnant soon, i know i will be sick soon become DH's driver. Don't you know man become woman when he is sick. He complains a lot! I know He will give you your 2nd miracle. just be patient sweetie. I love Ihop. Especially the omelette.Miss it so bad, it’s been 12 year.

Janice, my diet buddy :D Ohhh!!!! Your clinic very strict. I joined spark people yesterday. I sent my first posting on 'Lost 15 pounds by Valentine' I don't know it is possible or not. We'll see. What have you done? I used to have light breakfast only Juice n Milk. Now Im eating full breakfast. I have peanut butter bread n non fat chocolate milk. Sometimes I made omelette (White part of egg) with low fat cheese n tomatoes. I move Juice for afternoon snack. At night i eat vegetable n 2 boiled white eggs. Before sleep a glass of non fat milk. I also change my exercise schedule. I walk in treadmill in the morning with empty stomach n wait 30 minutes before i take my breakfast. I think you are already in good track, you eat healthy food already. Don't push yourself so hard sweetie.

Christine, I hope MIL getting better everyday. Sending you my special prayer :D

Macca, how many pounds you lost? Sorry, i can't hold myself to ask. May be you are right, i should proud of myself. I am not really happy cause those 5 Kg what i earned from last cycle :D That's a very prefect FSH! Wow!!!! GL on stim.

Bec, triplets? wow? So cute. If im not mistaken you mentioned multiple
runs on your family, right? I wants twins too... :D

Erin, Im praying each of us have a very healthy daughter :D

Auntie, Im still doing my traditional ‘Good luck’ dances for you. It’s prefect time. It’s full moon lately.

Meg, sending our traditional dances too for AF arrives soon

Hi to everyone else :D Got to go. I forgot i promised my friend to accompany her find a wedding present for her sister. Sorry about the spelling, no time to fix it. Bye... bye....

Angela (arizonakiwi)--I've done IVF once before and I had hardly any side effects. I was a little bloated but nothing worse than PMS. It really wasn't as bad as I feared considering all the hormones you're pumping into your system. I was pretty emotional, but I'm pretty much always on an emotional roller coaster so it wasn't that strange. I think one day off work after EC is good, although I felt fine and could have gone back to work right away. I only took two days off after ET last time, though, and I regret that. I'm going to take a week or so off this time and really pamper myself and my embies this time. I'm sure it didn't have anything to do with the BFN, but I still regret it. Anyway--welcome and I wish you the best of luck!

Hi Gang! Well, I am hoping that this is my LAST DAY on Lupron and Estrace!!!!! :x I am so tired of all these headaches and bruises on my belly (yes, I have hit a blood vessel or two).

I have an appointment with my RE tomorrow for a sonogram, so I better be getting to bed as I have a 3 hour drive to my clinic ( have to leave home at 6:30 a.m.) and traffic is terrible in the morning.

As long as everything goes as planned, it looks like I will start progesterone injections tomorrow and then on to re-claim my little frosties on January 16. Fingers crossed that they both make it through the thaw (I only have two). :D

Aunty, I am so glad you got to skip ahead! You have been our fearless leader for awhile now and it's time you had a turn at all the fun!

Here's to strong and healthy follies and frosties to everyone! Baby dust, baby dust and more baby dust to all! I'll be in touch soon.

Ok, So I got through the injections solo. Once I got past the 1st stick it was smooth sailing afterward. I ended up having to call hubby a couple times (ain't that a shame!), but I finally did it. The only thing is there has never been any blood when hubby stuck me but all three sticks bled when I stuck myself tonight - made me think I did something wrong, but nothing's hurting yet, so I think I'm ok :-) One more night solo, then hubby better take his job back. I need to be doing this myself as little as possible.

My2nLT: You're so close...You must be so excited...I'm all excited and nervous for you and I don't even know you! It sounds like you've been through this before, so I just want to wish you many, many blessings on retrieval day.

Fingers and toes crossed for you...eyes, arms, and legs too! Good luck!
