Hi everyone. I am also part of the "Hoping for a Summer Baby" thread, but would like to be part of your group as well. I am beginning my first ICSI tomorrow. I had my first "real" appt with my doctor today..did the blood work, and gave me my RX for the BC pill. I begin the Lupron injections on August 16. I am so excited. It seems like this day would never get here. My DH and I began trying 3 years ago. With God's favor on our side, we will get a BFP in September!

Welcome Christin!!! The support given on this thread is AWESOME!!!!! I don't think i could have kept my sanity right now if it was not for these special girls. Not only for them to talk with me but to be able to just read all the comments, advice, and strong support here on the boards. Good luck!!

I willl do a list update on Friday so please post the latest dates etc you have and I will incorporate it into an up to date list.

Thanks so much for your positive words of support. I have convinced my GP to let me go have a private beta hcg test. I go today - I cant believe that despite paying for my IVF , it has been a battle to find someone to authorise the Beta HCG!!!!

Christin: WELCOME TO OUR CRAZINESS!!!! that we all LOVE so much and don't know what we'd do w/out each other at this point!!!! We LOVE people that jump ship from other threads cuz they love us so much!! ha, ha, ha....kidding --- the women (and some men) on ALL of these threads out here are just AMAZING!! couldn't ask for a better website if you ask me.....it all feels very real once you start your injections.....is pretty cool!!! and just so ya know --- we all have BFP's waiting in our futures!!!!

And now for me.........as you know (or not) i had my first us/bw since starting my stimms yesterday ---- have 5 LOVELY follies growing in my left (10-11mm) ovary and 2 little-bitty ones (4m) in my right.... doc says he LIKES to see 11'ish ---- but not to be at ALL discouraged (exactly how does one do that after doc says "you don't have enough follies"

) don't get me wrong --- LOVE my doc.....anyway - he said things look really great and that's actually why he prefers doing "early" us (i've only been stimming for 6 days and usually us not done for week to 10 days according doc).........also my LH levels are lower than he likes to see at this phase (??????) not sure what the actual NUMBER is --- just that is low...so all my meds changing up a bit effective today......hoping to grow the itty-bitty ones to catch up to others (GROW FOLLIES GROW!!!!) and i go back tomorrow morning.....will be back w/ an update at that time!! I hafta say - mentally, it was a little bit of a downer....but i guess i should be THRILLED that i have some "really good ones" growing

Hello.

I've got few questions, if you can help me please.

1-I've noticed that many of you mention beta HCG or just hcg.What does this mean? I'm not sure but is it the blood test to test the pregnancy?

2-What is the criteria to tranfer the number of embryo?I'm having the Ec on friday and the transfer could be on sunday if it is day 2.I know they can transfer 1 or 2 but what if they ask me how many do i want to transfr???

Any suggestion,please?

Anie: first of all, good luck w/ your ER/ET!!! hope all goes well

the "HCG" is the blood test to determine if BFP......... in the states - is pretty much what all docs do to confirm pg --- and is done exactly TWO WEEKS after ET.....far as the criteria goes for how many they will transfer back IN???? it COMPLETELY depends on doc and each individual patient......if egg quality isn't so great, and you have 4 - they may well put 4 back in.....if prior ivf's - success/fail - that could be part of decision......lots of criteria.......but most docs usually have their own "limits"......my doc for instance - will never put more than 3 back in.... and all depends on the circumstances.....i don't remember your stats --- how many follies you got growing??? and what size??? BFP THOUGHTS YOUR WAY!!

Thanks for your reply.
I've got 7 follies good size and other small ones.This was on monday's scan so by friday i should have more folies: the small ones should be grown by then.This is my first ICSI for my first baby.My clinic will transfer maximum 2 embryo.Honestly i hope they dcide it because i don't know how many to transfer.

I know there is more chance if we put 2 in but im scared of ending with twins and/or ending up with miscg....

Whatta dilema!!??!!!

Oh! one more thing: I'm 31,1.55cm hight and weight 48kg.....dunno if the body structure could be a criteria as well...

Anie: sounds like we are on about the same schedule!!! i just went yesterday for my first us since starting stimms.....i have 5 good size follies and 3 little baby ones......doc changed my meds effective today, i go back tomorrow and then again on saturday.....this also is my first ivf/icsi --- hoping for the BFP!!! ya know....this may sound INSANE - but i'm actually inclined to put 3 back in if doc will allow it!! i just want it SO bad that i feel like if is something that will increase my chances...... and we end up w/ "many" ---- then we'll deal with it!! AND, won't have to worry about EVER having to go thru this again if there ever came a time where we thought we wanted another!! (which i'm sure would NOT happen if we were blessed w/ multiples first time around)!!

I'm sure the reality of it though, will be doc offering his EXPERT advice on how many and me and dh saying "ok".....which is just fine, i think that mentally --- i'm just prepared (remember i said MENTALLY) for multiples! (CALL ME CRAZY!!!!!)

Hi all

Here is the update from me... I am waiting by the phone for RE to call and tell me when to come in for my trans....I know it will be today thankgod.... I am cleaning my house like a nut preparing for bedrest the next few days i just had my DH flip the mattress so i have a nice fresh comfy spot to nest into...

. Other than that I feel pretty good.. My RE said only bedrest for the 1st 48 hours. Then pretty much just take it easy after that. So thats the story i will keep you all updates as much as i can

Thanks for your kind words.

I have a quick question. Has anyone had success in getting Short-Term disability approved for maybe the last 2-3 weeks of the cycle? I travel a ton for work, and work insane hours. I am wanting to take time off for this, but not really wanting to burn all of my vacation. Just curious if anyone has had luck with getting paid leave.

Christin: NO IDEA on the st disability thing........although - it seems like i've seen other gals asking about it out here on these boards..... guess it depends some on whether or not and how much you want HR dept knowing what's going on.......i don't know to what level of info would be required to disclose????? and for me personally --- i'm not telling a SOUL at my work.....so for me, not an option
