Bad Beta

Post by HopefulinVA »

Well I am very sad to report that my beta came back negative. Although, I kinda had a feeling because all of my symptoms left yesterday and I started feeling my cycle coming on. I get very definitive signs every month (loss of appetite, boobs stop hurting, fatigue). I was trying to stay positive until I saw a little spotting early this morning. Then I saw more after my test. After I took out the vaginal ring (progesterone from the study I was doing), it was obvious. I got the call at 1:30 this afternoon. I am sooo depressed. We have 4 frozens left from our first attempt in 2005. Unfortunately we didn't get to freeze any this time. None were good enough. Sorry to put out such sad news, but it's where I am right now. Is there anyone else feeling like this? I don't know how many of you got your results.

Triss22-
Thanks for the encouragement. I need it right now. I am just bummed. I'll throw myself into work and stop mopin in a few. We've been TTC for 9 years. So unfortunately, I am used to disappointment, but it never gets easier. It's always a grieving process, ya know? I hope I haven't discouraged or put a damper on anyone else. Sorry guys! I'm a little self absorbed right now...

Thank you, also. I'm trying not to cry continuously. My DH is also out of town on business so that stinks too. So I'm trying to stay occupied. I'll probably read for the rest of the night. I got the news while I was at lunch with a friend...I was bawling like a baby at the table. Had to hide in the bathroom when DH called. :( It was kind of a mess. I don't think I can do IVF again. I think we will definitely use our frosties, but I don't know when. I have my final appt. next week sometime. We'll go over options then. I think after over 9 years, the frosties will be it for us. I think I am tired of riding this roller coaster. But who knows...

Hopefulinva- When will your dh be home? You really need to be around someone right now if you can. I think you are an incredibly strong women to have been trying for so long. Try to read something positive...or maybe a long warm bath. Let the tears flow...it is part of clearing your emotions. It sounds like there is so much success with frosties without all the same struggles as a fresh cycle. Just let it all out.

hopefulinva - Aww, I am so sorry to hear your news. I agree with Enfossum that you are incredibly strong-willed to have gone through 9 years ttc. With that will, you will also get through this. I am sorry that your DH is not around to wrap is arms around you right now, but hopefully he will be home soon and together you can decide your next step. Don't give up - you have come so far. You have lots of ladies here to listen (read) anytime you need. That's what we are here for....

Enfossum - i am thinking of you and sending positive thoughts your way for a doubled plus beta tomorrow. Say lots of prayers tonight, as will I, and think positive. Grow embies grow!

biddy - i felt the exact same way you did...sore boobs and some very mild cramping. i did not poas but had a positive beta yesterday. try to think positive and send good vibes and energy to those embies of yours. They need it to stick....

truebeliever - wow!! great numbers - woohooooo! I am very happy for you. hope you start feeling better soon. i too am bloated and it sucks (but i am not complaining).

They also checked my progresterone level and it was a whopping 258 which is why my belly is so swollen. They are rechecking the progrestrone and Hcg levels on Friday. They said they will probally cut back or stop the progesterone if the level is still really high.

Aliymoni- that is excellent news!!! Congrats on your BFP! :) I hope my second beta goes that high. Very happy for you. My progesterone is pretty low. I can't remember the number, but they said it was fine. I am still waiting, which seems like the longest day of my life!!!!

Well is offically a BPN. I did a beta at work and it came back negative. I wonder if i can ask to stop the progesterone today. I guess this means I have to save money again or get good insurance in MA to cover IVF.

Am also 40 - on IVF #3. Retrieval was Aug 12, 2008 and we had 4 early blastocysts transfered on 17th. Same stims - Menopure and Gonal-F... That worked well last cycle but our protocol prior to that was different. #2 was BFP (Febr), but we had to clear it out with methotrexatehope due to ectopic/abnormal development. Am sincerely hoping we're lucky this time, but I'm very nervous due to the transfer of "early" blastocysts. Hope your cycle is going well!
