Re: Fall Cycle 2011 (Sept, Oct, Nov) this cycle is the one!!

Post by Sunshine1576 »

Spoke briefly to my nurse Jamie today, who told me they will be putting me on a synthetic thyroid med starting tomorrow for 6 weeks to help lower the level to where they like to see it for this clinic. Checking the thyroid and even the prolactin levels is something that normally is done at baseline but it takes up to two weeks to get the results back. However with that said they still think it was a male factor for our last IUI not working, but even with 7 follicles, that has me questioning maybe the timing? I mean we only had 17 hours from the trigger shot and I was so sick from a 24 virus I couldn't try again.

I keep wanting to find an easier solution or a least a diagnosis something wrong? But you know me, I did ask her about the folic acid and she told me they like to see around 1000mg of folic acid intake so my One-A-Day's with 400mg is not enough on their own. I thought maybe once we got pg we could increase the intake, but I'm not going to dabate this any longer...My doctor prescribed Neevo and CVS called me back to tell me the order has shipped, so I might as well go all the way with following my RE's recommendations. Neevo is a multivitamin with a higher folic acid intake but is easier for the body to absorb. Lastly, my nurse told me to call them once my next cycle starts, but I'm thinking maybe dh and I should give this 6 wks before trying another round of fertility treatment, maybe sometime around mid-October? Not sure if I can wait that long, probably not. Anyway I'm looking forward to next April for the biggest tax writeoff ever. But wouldn't it be nice IF bills could be delayed until after the baby comes home, think of it like a "Family Addition Loan." Ok time for sleep before I get too carried away with my crazy analytical ideas...As for loans, some clinics do offer financing options, but I don't know why ALL of them don't offer financing being that so any of us go through fertility treatment. Maybe they are afraid we wouldn't pay them back and just keep the new baby? I personally know I would give my whole house to have a little one running around.

I got to see Belles, (my neighbor's little girl) for a little bit this evening, she stayed and ate sphagetti for dinner with us at the table. I kept thinking now this is what a family would very well feel like. Lots of love and well wishes to all of you- :D Sunshine1576

I know how you feel akdelp, we are out of pocket on everything except meds (which are covered 90%), so we have been pinching pennies to make this happen without having to put a burden on the family. I am trying not to allow myself to think that it won't work because to be out so much money with nothing in the end would be hard. The job I am currently doing is not a job I can do if I were to get pregnant so I will be hoping to just take a leave of absence for a month during treatment. If it doesn't work then I can go right back into my job and start saving again :( . This is if the company will let me do that, if not then I will just be giving my notice to leave for the end of October.

I am currently on birth control trying to gauge my days (bleed 2 or 3 days after finishing BCP), need to know this since I will be traveling to Cyprus for treatment. AF is not cooperating with me this month, I finished my pills on Sunday and still no bleeding, this has never happened, I have always been 2-3 days after, now day 4 and nothing. I think its because I want it to come, who knows, maybe I'm thinking about it too much.

Anyway I hope everyone has some fun plans for the holiday weekend.

Your veryelcome. I am actualy a Licensed Practical Nurse. I have been an LPN for over 14 years. After graduating I worked in a hospital. I have also worked with special needs adults and chilred, I've worked in OB/GYN, and long term care with seniors. I quickly discovers a knack for supervion and obtained a Nurse Supervisory/Management Certification. I recently worked a's a Director of the Nursing Department at a very large Assisted Living Facility but after several years I realized I needed more time for my famy and that was a position that dis not allow for that. For the past year I have been working a's a Nurse/Health Center Manager for a division of Walgreens. I realy enjoy my job. It is quite challenging, although sometime I do miss the get down and dirty nursing duties I did in the hospital setting. I am currently teyi g to get my RN/BSN through long distance learning.

I am so glad to see more of the Fall members starring to post a bit more. This means we are getting closer and closer to our Fall miracles.

Hi Tamera, I know this wait can be very frustrating. I remember with my first BFN in May I got right back on and started with the BCP's. I'm like you after the last pill AF comes within 2-3 days maximum. I was so frustrated. I think it took 11 days that cycle for AF to come. I will be doing the AF dance for you until she visits. Dint worry she will be here soon.

Hi Sunshine-hope your doing well today. I was over in the summer board and a's you know, 2 BFP's back to back. I hope this trend continues into the Fall!!!

I was reading your post on the Prenatal vitamins. I wanted to clarify that Folic acid is recommended in micrograms (mcg) and typically not in milligrams (mg). It can be measured in mg but the lables always show Folic Acid as mcg which is a much smaller measurement than mg (1000mcg = 1mg). Please make sure of this with your RE so you know exactly hoe much Folic Acid he wants you to take. So, the recomended daily intake of Folic Acid when trying to conceive or of child bearing age is 400mcg. And the recomended dose for Pregnant and lactating woman is 800mcg. However in our case with having fertility issues physicians typically recommend anywhere from 600mcg to 800mcg of Folic Acid daily. I have had many issues with tolerating prenatal vitamins. I have found one that I am finally able to tolerate. It's a little bigger than I would like but it is a soft gel so it is easier to swallow plus it has DHA. The prenatal vitamin is (Nature Made Liquid Soft Gels Prenatal Vitamin + DHA). Below is the information. Hope this helps. It's also not too expensive. I found it at Target and the website has a coupon for $1.00 off.

Is 1200 mcg too much folic acid for one day? I am taking a prenatal vitamin that has 800 mcg, but my friend who went through IVF told me to take more, so I added a just folic acid pill (400 mcg) daily, does anyone know if this is too much?

Tamera-I don't think it's too much but I would definantely discuss it with your RE anyways. Higher doses of Folic Acid are used regularly for conditions like Anemia and Chrones Disease. I have read that doses higher than 1000mcg are also used for treating infertility. There actually have been studies that have correlated higher doses of Folic Acid intake (over 800mcg daily) with multiple pregnancies. I wish you all the best. Sending you lots of love. I hope this information help.

WeHaveHope,
Ny husband went by CVS today to pick up my meds while I was working...and they gave him birth control instead of Neevo. lol you would think they would go over the meds before checking out the customer. I called CVS and told them what had happened, told me to just bring it in and they will take care of everything tomorrow. I know the bcp were from my first clinic way back in April and they must automatically refill them each month. Glad we can fix that, I wouldn't know what to do with extra bcps... I will check out the vitamins at Target, I was just in there today. Thank you!

OMG, birth control pills instead of prenatal vitamins. I tell you, these days you really need yo be so careful with pharmacies. I had something similar happen last week. My RE had ordered the Lidocain Cream for me to use as a topical analgesic when I start using the PIO on my tush. So I went to pick it up and decided to look at the box before I left the counter. Of course, they had gotten it wrong. Thank God I am a nurse and knew the difference because to a non medical person they would have not noticed yhe difference. The pharmacy had given me Lidocain Ointment instead of Lidocain Cream. Well, the ointment is only effective on broken skin, it does absolutely nothing on intact skin. Of course I need the cream because it needs to numb my intact butt so it won't hurt as much when DH gives me the injection. I was able to get it corrected and left with the Lidocain Cream. Point is ask questions, be careful, and be as informed as possible.

We officially have 20 members on the Fall Board. I am so happy to have such a wonderful group to share this journey with. I know for some of us, the Fall seams so far away. But everyday we all get closer. Our time will be here in no time at all. Sending you all tons of baby dust to get us started.
