Yvee....thanks for reminding me of this thread. I tend to try to forget....

I've been fairly active with lots of walking and cycling but at a slow pace. Have finally ruined my knee with over ambitious cycling today so must get that fixed asap. Better news is that my local pool reopens tomorrow after their 3 week holiday, so I'll be off there to thrash up and down in an irritating fashion in a few day's time.

Traci, blueberries are in season here too. We're out picking them most days although I'm fed-up with having stained hands and nails. We've lots in the freezer now.

Hoping everyone is doing well with at least thinking healthily!

Debra.

Hi All

Whats happened to all my healthy buddies? Maybe you are all being too healthy and out enjoying the sunshine.

Debra - you have put me in the mood of a swim, have not been for ages. No excuses really, just laziness. We have been eating lots of berries as they are grown locally, so they are nice and fresh.

Love

Fell at the first hurdle. Dashed off to the pool only to find out it was closed for training....grrrr. I'll try again tomorrow....I have a physio apt. on Wed so no cycling until after that I think, just to be on the safe side.

Hi Yvee and Debra..anyone else on board?

I do need to update the signature line..will do so this week. Eating muesli and yogurt right now..yum. :D Had salmon last night for dinner. Finishing cleaning the house today - scrubbing the floors on my hands and knees...I hate doing this but the floors looks so nice afterwards :D ..and with 2 dogs there is also grime and dirt. Then acu appointment and then driving back to Vienna..hopefully no summer travelers on the road. It is raining here as well...but tomorrow is supposed to be nice again 8)

Debra - I feel like the detox did my body a world of good...I felt a lot cleaner and that my body tried to get rid of all the toxins...but with a 10 day detox maybe we can do the body just that much better. I have been reading tons lately about the liver and all the functions it provides our bodies...it is a real workhorse and is key to our survival and health. And with all the junk out there - in food, in cleaners, in the air, all the perfume people spray on themselves....it takes a real toll. So anyway I thought I would go for another 10 days. There is also a 6 week detox program...but I am not that committed...yet :D

Have a happy and healthy day 8) 8) 8) 8)

Traci, then chalk that up to healthy minds vs. healthy bodies. I don't think 2 very rare pastries and one slice of pizza will do you any harm at all. Everyday yes, once in a bluemoon, no. Anyway (stern voice) don't forget we don't do the hair-shirt thing on here, just celebrate the goodies! When were you thinking of doing the detox again? I'm thinking I might do the 7 day starting next Thursday. Would you want to join me or is it too soon?

I should throw the question open to everyone, anyone want to do the Zita West liver detox (I've the book so can help re. dos/don'ts) starting next Thursday?

I went to the physio today. Big waste of time, she didn't fill me with confidence at all. Couldn't find anything wrong with my knee and told me to come back next week having jogged enough to make it hurt. Great!

I eventually got my pedometer, shamefully low counts so far. Today is my best and I'm still only at 7800, I'll never make 10,000 by later tonight. It only counts 6 steps or more and I potter around in 5-step bursts it would appear.

Hope everyone is doing well.
Debra.

Next Thursday..I am in!!! :D :D We can trade recipes as well :D :D

I do not feel guilty about my lack of discipline...I really enjoyed it!! :D :D..sometimes we deserve little treats! I just roasted some peppers to have on top of arugula for dinner with pasta and fresh tomatoe sauce (lots of garlic). Now only if DH would get home for dinner....

Debra and Traci,
I might join you on the detox. Can you have wine? I printed out the list from Traci on this thread where she explained to me the basics of the program. My only concern is that I have an out-of-town guest coming for the weekend and I would hate to not be able to enjoy a glass of wine with her. Nothing else seems that hard, now that I gave up caffiene.
Let me know, please.
And are you starting Thursday (tomorrow)?

Hi Randa, We will start next Thursday - August 25th. Unfortunately...no wine at all..it is very tough but worth it :D. The last time I did the detox I stayed away from social events..made it easier for me. :D :D
I will write down the specifics in my next posting.

Cheers, Traci

OK..here we go..I have condensed what is written in Zitas book..I think I have captured everything. Debra - have I missed anything important?

10 Day detox: days1-4 and days 7-10 consume foods from 'eat liberally'and 'eat moderately'lists. Days5-6 consume foods from 'eat liberally'
7 Day detox: days1-3 and days6-7 consume foods from 'eat liberally'and 'eat moderately'lists. Days4-5 consume foods from 'eat liberally'

Absolulte No-Nos: Alcohol, sugar, caffeine, orange juice, refined carbos (white stuff like rice, pasta, bread...), red meats, all dairy, foods containing preservatives or additives, salt.

Foods to eat Liberally: basically all veggies and fruits - except tomatoes and potatoes. Should also be fresh and preferably organic..so no canned or frozen foods. Drinks allowed-water, juice (again fresh and no orange juice), fruit&herbal teas, dandelion coffee, water with lemon juice 20 minutes before breakfast, water..atleast 2 liters.

Foods to eat Moderately: Foods from above list plus...white meat, white fish, eggs, nuts (raw), seeds, dried fruit, grains, oat milk or almond milk (I found rice milk as well), potatoes, tomatoes, live natural yoghurt.

Some tips from my last detox....buy lots of food to have in the house and try to hid/get rid of the bad stuff. I also made a huge pot of veggies annd bean soup which I survived on for days....I found the beans helped when I had carbo craves. I stayed away from anything tempting...like a bakery. You do get headaches cuz your body is trying to get rid of all the toxins...you won't feel results right away..now a little TMI...but what I experienced was near the end I had really urgent stools...like my body could not wait at all   . Oh yes..and warn DH ...I was a little grouchy some days   ...lack of sugar???

Here is to next Thursday!! Anyone else want to join us??????

Traci - I would love to join in, but just don't have the willpower at the moment ... Maybe next time (I think I said that last time !).

Best of luck to you all, and will keep up with how you're doing on a day to day basis. Traci - I know you felt really good after your last detox, so all the effort must be worth it. Debra's away until Sunday, but if you're not starting 'til Thurs she's a few days to catch up.
