Eatly Blasts...

Post by CSunshine »

My transfer was a Day 5 transfer. 10 of our 15 made it to Day 5, but only 5 of them were Early Blastocysts - could have been hours away from becoming full fledged blastocysts, but then again they are technically "behind" the anticipated schedule. So I'm wondering if they're not true keepers. The other 6 didn't make it to Day 6...

CSunshine,
Early Blasts can certainly be keepers... so I've read. It is normal for them to not turn to blasts until day 6 so maybe they turned to blasts after transfer. I've read that the embies thrive in the natural environment (uterus) much better than the petri dish so don't let the fact that the other ones didn't make it discourage you! Did they call them Morulas (that is the stage before blasts)? I has 2 5day morulas tranfered on 8/15 and I was a disappointed but after researching I am totally hopeful! Good luck to you!

Welcome Csunshine!!! - I don't think you have anything to be concerned about because so many women on here are transferring morulas and not blasts, and so many are pregnant. Of course we want more information and seeing more cells seems to give us more information, but you also transferred four of the best ones...so you are in a good place. There is so much support on here and it really helps when you are in the dreaded 2ww. Best wishes to you.

Triss- YAAAAAY!! Congrats to you!!!! What wonderful news. I love when I hear this news, I just start smiling inside. Sorry you are so swollen! Well keep us posted. Your beta looks great!

Rosario - I was hoping so bad you would get your BFP. So sorry about your results. I don't know how quickly the HCG shows up, so I keep thinking that maybe you are still early. My thoughts are with you...stay strong, because you are.

Biddy- You are a hoot! Thanks for your posts. You are driving yourself crazy with those tests. I can't wait to hear your BFP!!! Keep us posted.

Alimoyni- Yippee!!! Congrats, that is super beta number. Sorry about the bloating. That can't feel good. Maybe it is natures way of preparing us for what we feel like in 9 months! So happy for you!

Well I got my news and my 2nd betra is now 87
Interesting, either I misheard the first number or the RE padded it a bit to make me feel better...hmmm? I thought my first number was 37.5...well when I was in the office I saw my paper work and it was 35.8. I couldn't have even transposed thoses numbers. I was sleeping when I got that call so maybe I didn't hear right. Anyway, that put me in a bad mood this morning, but since my second number increased by about 148% to 87 I am feeling better. I will just take it two days at a time, and hope that it still increases at that rate on Friday, and most of all I will keep saying my prayers. Thanks for all of yours!!!

Thinking of all of you!!!

Hi All,

Enfossum - Yeaaaahhhh! What a great jump you made! I am so happy to hear that you are definitely pregnant and things are obviously going well. We'll keep hoping and praying that Friday's numbers are even higher!

Alimonyi and Triss - Sweeeeeet beta numbers! I am so happy for you ladies! What great news!

Rosario - I am so bummed to hear about your BFN. I know that its hard to think about trying again when everything is so fresh, but you need to stay strong and focused on the prize. My heart and hugs go out to you....

I won't have my 2nd beta number back till tomorrow morning cause I hit the lab too late today. I am just hoping for a double number ;o)

I am thinking of all of you and praying that things go our way

Csunshine:
This is what I found on this site when I was looking for info on Morula... look!!! early blasts are way ahead of the game! This is an explantion from "Ghost":

"Early blasts are more advanced than morulae.

The order is:

2pn stage (1 cell with 2 pronuclei)
Cleavage stage (2 to 10 cells)
Compaction
Morula
Cavitation
Early Blastocyst
Full Blast
Hatching blast
Hatched blast

As a general rule, the more advanced on a given day, the better. On day 5, it's common to have morula, cavitating, and early blasts. Full blasts are somewhat unusual at that point."

Elizabeth: You are too much with the computations! Based on the numbers I've seen posted, your levels seem totally fine! People keep saying not to freak out about early beta numbers.

Elizabeth - very odd about that first beta number. I bet the nurse misspoke on Monday. And you're rising appropriately, a great sign! Hope it will ease your mind until Friday.

Appreciation

Post by CSunshine »

Evening ladies! Thank you for the positive vibes. IVF can be such a strain on every ounce of sanity during low moments, so full of hope, sorrow, frustration, pity and so many other dramatic emotions that it's really helpful to know I'm not alone! And boy am I not alone. Reading the posts here, everyone has a story, a history - issues to overcome. I went through a number of IUI's to have my first child and I am thankful for her daily. I started IUI's again in Jan and Feb /07 to no avail. Then discovered in the March attempt that my TSH (thyroid) levels were too high, so I'd have to resolve prior to continuing infertility. That April my thyroid was completely removed due to a cancer diagnosis. Turns out it wasn't cancer after all, but Hashimoto's Disease. After the thryroid regulated (June 07) I got pregnant naturally for the first time ever. Turns out it was ectopic and I had emergency surgury in August to remove the pregnancy and tube. Doctors referred me to IVF due to tubal loss and previous lack of success with IUI. First attempt was a bust. Second was another ectopic (or abnormal as it was never found in the tube and I had an HSG months later). Methotrexate became my friend. This third attempt finds me trying to delicately balance my desire for a child with the reality of my age and insurance coverage. It's easy to become obsessed and I find myself withdrawing from my local community, which is full of easily fertile stay-at-home moms. So it's really nice to hear from you all and about you all. I am sane. I am normal. This is just one of lifes little/big challenges and we will all reflect on it with special insight in the future. Few outside the IVF world can really understand and empathize. Sorry to rant... just have to let it out. Even our DHs'can't really fully "get it". My perspective. Luck and health to all! Congrats to the newly pregnant and all the support and strength to forge ahead for those of us still trying to get there! It will be worth it.

Woo hoo, I slept a bit better last night. Thank goodness. I am scheduled for another beta tomorrow, and I hope to see a big number. :)

Update...

Post by TrueBeliever »

Hello Ladies... I want to send a congratulations to the new BFP's and the one's that this isn't your month I am praying for you to continue to be strong.

As for me, I told you all that I had been in pain since about last Friday or so. I went in for an ultrasound and was diagnosed with OHSS. I have fluid that has built up in my abdomen, which has caused all my pain. I was told to rest, drink plenty of Gatorade and increase my protein intake. I have another apt Monday morning to see if that helps, RE said if not they may have to drain the fluid. I am in pain, but I can say it is a relief to finally know what is causing it.

I had my third beta today and it was 2035, so it is still rising normally. So, things are looking well. Hopefully I can get over this OHSS hurdle and get to have an ultrasound soon!!!!

Hi Ladies!

Csunshine- Welcome! Thanks for sharing your story - you are obviously very strong to overcome all that you have. Hopefully this is your time and we'll send our hope and prayers your way!

Truebeliever - Wooohooo! Congrats on your great beta scores! I am sure that they will get your OHSS under control. WE can't wait to hear about your U/S - maybe multiples?

Enfossum - glad to hear you had a good night! I am still thinking of you and praying for another great number tomorrow!!!

On my front, I got my 2nd beta back and it was 725! I was a little concerned at first b/c my impression was that it was supposed to double. However, after speaking with my nurse, she explained that they are only looking for it to go up by 50-60% in the first 48 hours, and mine went up by 84% so it was great news. I will go back to check my e2 and p4 levels on Monday and will throw another beta in for good measure. So I will keep you all posted. Nothing like having to wait for yet another date to come!

Hope everyone is doing well....

Good morning Ladies!

Enfossum - My numbers are pretty high but I am not sure what to think. When I look at the beta charts, it seems that I am in line for twins, but then the nurse and everyone else says not to put too much stock in the numbers. Guess I will have to wait till my u/s on the 5th of September...

Biddy and Rosario - Good luck today and tomorrow - we are all pulling for you to come back with BFPs!!!!

rechecking on Monday.

Hope your feeling ok Triss - my OHSS is literally a pain but knowing a baby is in there makes it easier. I have gained 6 pounds of fluid in 4 days so they are just closely monitoring my weight and abdominal measurement.
